Mr Titore returned home from business trip for the birthday party of his only son, Leonard.
“Honey welcome, how was the trip?” Asked Mrs Titore.
“Your son’s birthday is two days time so, what is your preparation?” She asked.
“I suggest we should use the house as venue and invite family and friends. About what I will present him, I decided to present him a car”. Cooed Mr Titore.
“That’s nice”. Smiled Mrs Titore. My own gift is surprise.
They kept on discussing some other things when Leonard stroted in with proud manner.
“Good afternoon Dad and Mom”. Greeted Leonard.
“How are you doing my prince” asked Mrs Titore.
“Great “. Answered Leonard. “Dad how was the trip? Hope you enjoyed “?
“Yeah “. Muttered Mr Titore.
“I’m going to the mall “. Leonard said as he walked down to the door .
“Won’t you eat”. Asked Mrs Titore. “I will be fine mum”. He said walking out of the house.

Leonard and Roxanne went to the mall to pick some interesting things they will need for classical modelling which is in three weeks time.
They kept shopping until Roxanne noticed Leonard was picking something that is kindly distinct from classical model.
“Do you need that?” She asked pointing at the boobles Snickers he was holding.
“Yeah, forget to tell you. My birthday is in two days time on Saturday and I will like to celebrate it with friends and family. I also invite you or you won’t come”. Asked Leonard incessantly while Roxanne hummed softly ” I will”.
“This necklace will look good on you so, why don’t you buy it”? She asked pointing at the jewelries box and Leonard picked the necklace, she continued to nudge Leonard to buy this and that. Soon, Leonard got exhausted and they left the mall to the car and continued their discussion.
“Roxanne what will you present me on my birthday or you won’t”. Asked Leonard.
“I will but surprise”. Laughed Roxanne passionately.
“Okay…hmm I have this which is bothering my mind.” Leonard said
“What is it?” She bite her lower lip.
“Who am I to you”? He whispered .
“I don’t really know maybe foe”. Teased Roxanne.
“I’m serious here, let’s call a spade a spade Rox”.
“I don’t understand we’re nothing more than friends or brother and sister”. She beamed with smile while Leonard just stood stolidity.
“Can we move”? Asked Roxanne when she noticed Leonard was silent all through.
“Yeah, sure!” He stammered.
The drive home was quiet as no one brought discussion.
She bid him farewell as she alighted from the car going to her compound.
She became angry because of the sight she saw in front of her. Her both parents and some relative, she left home very early after her parents went to work. She felt like running away from the sight but circumstance can not let her think of such, she took slow and steady step to where whatever has been displaying, she saw a young man standing in the middle talking. No one even noticed her presence.
“Good evening”. She greeted everyone insolently.
“Are you not Roxanne, the daughter of my well known brother, why are you this disrespectful? You greeted us like a piece of shit”. One of the man who sat next to her mother said while Roxanne vexation increased.
She wanted to say something to him that he will regret being among the meeting but she swallowed it for another day since he was her family worthless and useless member.
Instead of saying I’m sorry she ignored them and tried to climbed the stairs when the chubby man pulled her back and dragged her to the midst of the meeting. Everybody started to insult her.
“What kind of nonsense is this? You have to be complaisant not to be rude and arrogant”. The chubby man said and a young lady also said.
“I can’t believe my gave birth to a piece of shit. Ignominious daughter”.
The insults was too much for Roxanne that she hoped the ground should open and swallowed her. The worst of it all was the man in the middle slapped her and she fell to the floor and her parents did nothing to it but what brought tears to her face was when one of the demons said that:
“You are such a spoilt brat like your brother Roxard. You suppose to die instead of him young bitch”. She was pained to bone and tears split down her face like waterfall.
She glanced at her mother who was glaring at her and her father who was pitying her.
“Enough of the insults, you can take your leave”. Said a Bald head man who she knew to be her grandfather. She stood up unable to carry her legs, she finally entered her room sobbing.
She locked herself inside the room thinking about her dead brother and her wicked mother. She slept without super that night.

Roxanne arrived at the school the next day feeling bitter, she narrated her encounter with her pusillanimous family to Leonard who felt sorry for her and promised to take her out after school.
