“I don’t know” Said Mrs Brown sadly.
“How could you said you don’t know where your husband is mom. Is there something under your sleeve? Please talk to me”. Roxanne pleaded
“I said I’m fine Roxanne.” She yelled frustratedly and smiled fakely. Roxanne did not wanted to annoy her mother, she sighed and quickly walked away to her room.
She stared through the window, the same nothing changed.
“What is happening to mommy, what is she hiding away from me? Where can daddy be and what caused the sudden weakness”. Many thoughts kept flashing through her mind which she got no answer for. She picked her phone and put call through her father.
“Hello Dad, where are you? I’m already home”. She said incessantly and her father told her he was on his way.
She freshen up and went downstairs to have her lunch. After eating to her satisfaction she went back to her momma.
“Roxanne, can you bring me my phone please “? Asked Mrs brown and she nodded and went to her mother’s room. She reached her mother’s room and took the phone as she was about to turn her eye caught a glimpse of paper on the bed.
She took a brief look at the paper, her mouth fell agape at what she saw.
Her mother has congenital heart defect and she was a victim of Arrhythmias disease which will occur surgery.
The surgery will occur in two days time and they didn’t told her anything. She wept bitterly and placed the paper on the bed, she mopped her face before leaving the room.
“Mommy, this is it”. Roxanne said placing the phone on the table. “Thank you”. She mumbled and Mr Brown entered.
“Daddy welcome”. Roxanne greeted trying to control her sorrowful and grievous emotions.
“How are you doing princess? Hope you enjoyed your classical model”. He asked and she nodded sadly.
“Daddy, what’s wrong with mommy”? She asked.
“What??? Oh! Nothing… nothing, she is just tired”. Mr Brown lied.
“Why are you lying to me, I deserve to know everything Dad but you kept lying to me. I know she has arrhythmia disease and she will pass through surgery but what happened to her, what caused all this tell mee” . Roxanne cried as tears fall freely from her eye.
Mr Brown was speechless. Suddenly, Mrs Brown began to shake preternaturally on the chair finally she black out.
Mrs Brown was rushed to the hospital and the doctors carried series of test on her. It was confirmed that the congenital heart defect had got complicated .
Her breathe had worst than before that her breathe was supported by oxygen till the surgery would be carried out.
The day the surgery will be carry out, Roxanne wept for God to take total control and save her mother’s life. Her mother was carried to theatre room but the doctor did not allowed anyone to enter with them.
Two hours passed, neither the doctor nor nurses came out. Mr Brown was pacing up and down in the passage while Roxanne sat down sorrowfully. It had been three days since she had been in in the hospital with her both parents. Fear and nervousness gripped her as she prayed for the safety of her mother. She believes that what God cannot do doesn’t exist.
“Dad what take them so long like this”. Roxanne asked and Mr Brown turned to her with red and swollen eye.
“I don’t know but let’s have faith in God”. Mr Brown said unsure.
“Daddy I have a feeling, something is wrong”. Said Roxanne tearfully.
“What do you mean? Nothing bad will happen to my wife, God will save her life “. He said.
“I’m feeling it from my heart Dad, my head is heavy something is wrong”. She sobbed bitterly. The doctor finally came out of the theatre room, his expression explained it all. Mr Brown rushed to him.
“Mr Frank how is she? Was the surgery successful, I hope she is well?” Asked Mr Brown incessantly meanwhile Roxanne just watched sorrowfully.
“Hmm hmm hmm”. The doctor cleared his throat before he continued his speech. “I’m deeply sorry, we lost her”. He broke the news and Roxanne burst into hot tears.
“Nooooo! She can’t die, can she?” She asked looking at her father. “Please doctor help us”. She cried.
“There’s nothing we can do, we tried our best but we lost her”. The doctor said
