Innocent Thief – Episode 11

“Okay, I choose Emmaline Scott”. She said and Emmaline jaw dropped in surprise.
“How can she chooses me”. She asked herself as she stride to the front of the class.
“You choose the right person but I will like to select another two candidates then we’ll all vote. Keaira Gavis and Harsha Taylor , please come out.” Mrs Jarrett called and they walked out with their own thoughts.
“Now let’s vote for them. Whoever has the lowest count shall be dismiss from the candidates. Now vote.” She announced and everyone started to write the name of the candidate of their choice. After they had written it, they submitted in the box on the desk in front of the class.
Mrs Jarrett moved to the box and counted the votes. She took a marker and went to the white board in front of the class and wrote the score on it . Harsha was 4. Keaira was 6 and Emmaline 16 .
“So, now Emmaline and keaira please stay.” She said and Harsha left. “The second step is the test, anyone who pass the test will be made class rep. Though it’s visible that Emmaline win the election but she is new in this school, everything will be clear after the test.” She said and gave to them two questions paper to answer.
After the test, she collected their script and folded it into her files.
“I will announce the results tomorrow morning, good day to you all.” She said and left, the class began to murmured.
“Why don’t you chose your old friend instead of me?” Emmaline asked Zoella as they all walked to where her car was parked.
Zoella had made it her daily duty to be helping them off the street to their houses instead of trekking and taking cab.
“I’m confused, I don’t know what to say I felt dejected.” Zoella replied.
“If she chosed me, that is how ain’t gonna be voted for and I know the reason people didn’t vote for me, it’s because I’m poor and not qualify enough. ” said Harsha.
“And keaira it’s because she is too proud and rude.” Said Zoella.
“I’m scared now, I don’t know who’s gonna win”. Emmaline doubt.
“Don’t worry about that, you gonna win.” Harsha assured as they entered the car.

Emmaline jumped in victory as Mrs Jarrett declared her as the winner. She was now class monitress, though it was for few months because their examinations were approaching little by little.
Zoella sat down in female restroom crying in frustration when her friends saw her. They rushed to her and knelt besides her.
“Here have you been since?” Harsha asked in disbelief.
“Why are you crying?” Emmaline also asked.
“I’ve done it again”.
“What??” They both asked in unison.
“I steal Mr Collins phone.” She replied. “And the principal has gave to me another letter.”
“What letter?” Emmaline questioned.
“Suspension letter, two weeks”. She cried as Emmaline and Harsha look at each other.
“I tried so much not to steal it but I don’t know how it happened.” She said in tears.
“Sorry, you don’t have to cry”. Harsha said.
“The examination is coming gradually, how will I cope when I won’t come to school for two weeks.” She grumbled.
“We ll do the help don’t worry. We will be coming to your house every weekend to to give our notes to you so, you can study for the exam.” Harsha said.
“That’s not a problem. By the way, your house is not too far from mine.” Emmaline also replied.
“Can you do me a favour.” She requested.
“Yes. What?” They asked in unison.
“I want you to bring my bag here I’m going home. I can’t wait for the closing hours.” Zoella muttered.
“Ok, let me do that. Harsha stay with her so she won’t do anything crazy.” Emmaline said and left.
On her way to the class, she met three crew standing, blocking her from moving.
“You are not qualify to be the class monitress. How could you be luring yourself with that thief?” Anne said mockingly.
“She is not a thief.” Emmaline defend and they burst out laughing.
“She is not what, can you repeat that sentence? She is not a thief then what is she? ” Becca asked in-between laughter.
“We don’t have to talk to her, I know she will also start stealing one day. Actually my things is not available this year, come next year.” Yuonne mocked.
“Why do you have to be pain in this butt? You know nothing except to be calling yourselves ABY girls , do you gain anything from being a bully ? Are you born this stupid or do you even have moral lesson at all? You give everyone peace and joy when you leave the class. If you ever do this again, I’m gonna report you guys and you gonna regret it. You insipid.” Emmaline rained insults on them as their jaws dropped in embarrassment not knowing what to say anymore…
