Killian’s POV
The drive from Knight Gaming to my penthouse is short. I lead Anita inside, she’s looking around in awe.
“Wow, you’ve got a nice place” she said.
“Thanks”
I remove my jacket and puts it on the sofa nearest to me.
“Baby?” I call for Claire. But I’m met with silence.
” Baby, I’m home” still no answer.
I guess she’s still at Ryan’s school. I turn to Anita, she’s already made herself comfortable in one of the sofas.
“My wife isn’t home now, but she’ll be here in no time. Do you need anything to drink?”
” No. I’ll just stay here for now”
” I can show you to a room, so that you can freshen up and rest for a bit.. untill she gets back” I suggest.
She thinks about it for some few minutes. Then she shakes her head.
” I’ll stay down here for now, you can go and relax though” she said.
“Okay, but if you need anything, just call for me” I told her then I head upstairs.
Anita’s POV
I never expect Killian to be married already, his grandmother made it clear that we make the perfect couple. So why did he get married to someone else?.
I’ll stay and see who this woman is….if I find her not worthy of Killian, I’ll just get her out of the way.
Killian’s supposed to be Mine.
Claire’s POV
I enter the penthouse, I hear the sound of the TV playing. Is Killian back from the office?
I check my wrist watch, it’s just 1:15pm. Killian is supposed to be at the office by now, why did he come back early?.
Oh no!
I hope he hasn’t found out about my job, or I’ll be doomed.
I quickly head inside, getting myself ready to apologize and explain why I needed to work.
“Killian, I…” My words stuck in my mouth when I see the scene that befalls me.
There’s a woman, sprang on my sofa, in nothing but a towel wrapped around her chest. I take slow step forward.
No, no. It’s not what I’m thinking. Killian won’t, he can’t, he promised me. He made a vow, he just can’t…….
Finally, I’m standing in front of the woman, obstructing her view of the TV.
Taking a proper look at the woman, an involuntary gasp escape my mouth. She is the same woman I bumped into at the restaurant.
“You?!” She exclaims.
She stands up from the sofa, chuckling as she stands up.
“What a small world… What are you doing here? Oh, are you the maid? The clothes I wore just now are dirty, I want you to wash them for me” she said……kinda in a ‘I own the house’ tone.
I look at her and scoffs. And I thought she was a kind person.
” You are joking, right?” I ask.
“Nope, I need the…”
Just then Killian strides toward us, a wide smile on his face when he sees me. I keep a straight face, he needs to explain to me who this mysterious woman is…
“Baby, you are back” he kisses my forehead and swats to Ryan’s level. “And you too cham.. is your stomach still hurting?” Ryan shakes his head. “Good” he kisses his forehead too.
He stands up and turn to the woman.
“Anita, meet my wife Claire. She’s the mistress of the house” then he turns to me. “this is Anita, my childhood best friend”
I don’t know why, but I have this strange feeling that Anita is trouble.
She stretched out her hand, a sickening smile on her face.
“It’s nice to meet you, Claire”
I reluctantly shake hands with her, she held my hand a bit tight and I winced.
I withdraw my hand.
“I need to bath Ryan now” I sent Killian a look that says, we need to talk!.
I take Ryan’s hand and head upstairs to Ryan’s room. I enters Ryan’s room, set the bath and quickly bathes him.
I’m in the middle of changing his clothes, when Killian comes in the room. He hugs me from behind and kisses my neck. I move away from him and lay Ryan on his bed. I pat his back gently untill he falls asleep.
Then I gesture for Killian to come with me to our room.
We enter our room, I close the door and turn to Killian. He opens his arms for me to come in, but I send him a glare.
“Who’s that woman, Killian? Why did you bring her to our house? And without telling me first”
Killian sighs.
” Baby, she’s my childhood friend, she’s homeless now. And you know I can’t let her roam the street when I can help her” he said.
“Your childhood friend? How come I know nothing about her?” He stays silent. “And why didn’t you discuss with me before bringing her here?!”
“Baby, there wasn’t time…..”
I cut him off with a very harsh glare.
Sometimes I wonder if the man I married is a fool. Can’t he perceive the bad vibes oozing off her?.
“You could have booked an hotel room for her, you shouldn’t have brought her home. I don’t like her” I said.
” Come on, baby. Anita is a nice girl, I promise you that. I spent my childhood days with her, just give her a chance”
Childhood this, childhood that.
” Your childhood you is not your adult you, so as her. She needs to leave this house, right now”
” But baby…. “
” No Killian” I interrupted him. “I don’t want to hear it Killian. I get that she’s your childhood friend and you want to help her, but can’t you do that by giving her some money? She can get a hotel room herself, she’s not a cripple after all” I said.
Killian stays quiet for a moment, then pulls me into him. He lifts his hand towards my face, and begin to caress my cheeks with his thumb.
“Alright, my love. We don’t have to argue about this, let her stay for just two days. I promise I’ll make arrangements for her to leave” he said.
Two days? Since when does Killian argues with me? If I let that woman stay two days, she might never leave at all.
“I. Want. Her. Out. Now” I said, each word laced with anger.
Killian pulls away from me, he shakes his head.
” Claire, why don’t you seem to understand. Her parents did so much for me and Keira, when my parents were busy fighting, they were there for us. When my grandmother isn’t available, they were there. Now you want me to abandon their daughter now that they are no longer here to take care of her?”
Say what? Her parents are dead? I scoff mentally.
The woman I saw downstairs just now doesn’t seem like someone who’s suffering. If she’s having some difficulties, how can she maintain her skin and hair like that?.
“She’s lying, Killian. She have an ulterior motive. We have to send her away, before something goes wrong” I said.
“She will stay here and that’s final”
“What?”
“It’s the least I can do, to repay her parents kindness” he said. He moves forward to peck my lips, but I turn away. “I’m going back to the office, please be nice” then he left.
I can’t believe what just happened. That woman is clearly lying to Killian, how can he be so blind to see it?
What should I do now? How can I get her to leave?
Anita’s POV
I watch Killian coming down, so I pretended to be asleep. He walks closer to me and tap me on the shoulder. I fake waking up and yawn.
“I’m going back to the office, if you need anything talk to my wife about it. Or call me” he said.
I nod. Then he left.
I glare at the direction of his room, where Claire is. I should be the woman inside that room, I should have being Killian’s wife, not that ugly duckling.
But no problem, I’m here now, I will make sure Killian divorce her. She won’t know what hit her.
