Susan was already at the beach, waiting patiently at a reserved table. It was a quaint, private spot, and she busied herself by chatting on the phone with Jimmy, curious about his whereabouts. The atmosphere shimmered with a warm glow, the moon and stars adding an air of sophistication to the night.
“Where are you?” she asked.
“I’m here, but I can’t seem to find you,” Jimmy replied. Susan scanned the area and soon spotted him in the distance.
“I see you! Turn to your left,” she instructed, waving enthusiastically as he turned and caught her gaze. He began to walk toward her.
“Sorry for the delay,” he said as he reached her, wrapping his arms around her in a warm hug and planting a gentle kiss on her cheek before settling into the seat across from her.
“I was starting to worry,” she admitted.
“Well, the traffic was a nightmare,” he explained.
“You drove here?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“No, I took a cab,” he clarified.
“Alright, let’s order,” she said, calling out to a nearby waitress, who approached them promptly.
She placed their order while Jimmy watched her, a warm smile gracing his lips. After the waitress left to fetch their food, Susan turned to find Jimmy gazing at her intently.
“What?” she asked, a playful smile breaking across her face.
“You look beautiful,” he said, causing her cheeks to flush. “I hope no one bothered you while you were waiting for me?”
She laughed, shaking her head. “What do you mean?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about. Did anyone ask for your number?” he probed, a hint of jealousy in his voice. Susan found his protectiveness endearing.
“Don’t be so possessive, Jimmy. No one approached me. Even when a couple of them did, I turned them away,” she assured him, and he smiled in relief.
“I’m glad you did, because I would have had some words with them if I had seen it,” he replied, and Susan chuckled.
“Very funny.”
“This place is amazing—so cozy,” he remarked, taking in their surroundings.
“Yeah, I just discovered it recently,” she said.
“Is this your first time here?” he asked, curious.
“Not quite. I came once before… for a date,” she confessed.
“Oh, I see. It’s nice,” he said, their eyes meeting in a shared moment of understanding. Just then, the waitress returned with their order, setting the dishes on the table, and they began to eat, laughter and conversation flowing easily between them.
After savoring their mouthwatering dishes, they strolled hand in hand along the beach, engaging in lighthearted conversation and relishing the moment together.
“I wish I could hold onto this moment with you forever,” he said softly.
“Jimmy…” she replied, and they paused, facing one another as he tenderly caressed her face.
“I know the path ahead is challenging, but I promise to never let go. I will fight for us,” he vowed, his fingers gently tracing her cheek. She opened her mouth to respond, but Jimmy silenced her with a soft kiss.
It was a romantic interlude as they kissed passionately, Jimmy cradling her face while Susan wrapped her arms around his waist, returning the kiss with equal fervor.
Hours later, as Jimmy drove her home, he noticed she had fallen asleep, her head resting against the seat. A smile crept across his face as he stepped out of the car and made his way to her side. He undid her seatbelt and lifted her into his arms, carrying her toward the building. Upon reaching the door, he rang the bell, and Jude opened it, stepping aside to let him pass.
He gently laid her down on the bed, removing her shoes and accessories before taking a soft cloth to wipe away her makeup. Once he finished, he switched off the lamp on the shelf, covered her with a blanket, and kissed her forehead before quietly exiting the room.
Emerging into the living area, he found Jude sipping a drink at the mini bar while working on his laptop.
“Hey,” he greeted, taking a seat across from him. Jude poured him a drink, and they clinked glasses, savoring the moment together.
“I can see you’re looking after my sister,” he said, a smile spreading across Jimmy’s face.
“I hope you’ll give me the chance to take care of her even more in the future.”
“You have my full support. I trust you with my sister; you’re exactly the kind of guy she needs in her life,” he continued, and Jimmy let out a soft sigh.
“But I don’t think she’ll allow me that opportunity.”
“She’s starting to open up to you.”
“I just hope this isn’t a dream, because I never want to wake up from it. I’m so in love with her, and I can’t imagine stopping.”
“I know, and I can see it,” Jude replied, taking a sip of his drink.
“But I’m terrified that I’ll wake up one morning only to find she’s shut me out again. I simply can’t bear that.”
“She won’t do that; you two are meant for each other,” he reassured him as they exchanged smiles.
“Thank you, Uncle Jude, for your support and for giving me a chance.”
“You’re always welcome. Knowing my sister is in good hands brings me nothing but joy.”
They chatted for another hour before Jimmy rose to leave.
“I should start heading home.”
“Wait, aren’t you staying over?”
“Nah, my mom will probably worry. I’d rather not face another lecture,” he replied.
“Alright, I’ll walk you out,” Jude said, standing up. Just as they turned to leave, Susan’s voice stopped them.
“Jimmy,” she called softly, and they turned to see her standing at the top of the stairs, her eyes drowsy with sleep.
“You’re awake,” Jimmy said, and Susan descended the staircase, wrapping her arms around his waist, catching them both off guard. Jude smiled and excused himself.
“Why are you leaving?” she asked, and Jimmy sighed as she looked up at him, his hands gently cupping her face.
“Do you want me to stay?” he asked, and she nodded.
“Sleep with me tonight.”
“Okay, if that’s what you want, let’s go.” He took her hand, and they climbed the stairs to her room.
Meanwhile, at Greg’s house, Taylor paced the living room, trying to reach Jimmy, but his phone wouldn’t connect. Rachel emerged from her room, surprised to find Taylor alone.
“What are you doing?” Rachel asked, turning to her.
“Um, nothing, just waiting for Jimmy to come back,” Taylor replied.
“I don’t think he’ll be home tonight.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Look, it’s past 10 PM. He won’t be back tonight. I suggest you head to bed.”
“But he’s out with his friends; why would he sleep over?”
“Why are you so worked up? I thought you two were no longer together.”
“Who told you that? We’re still together,” she insisted, and Rachel scoffed.
“Well, suit yourself,” she said, heading back to her room.
Taylor frowned and glanced at the clock on the wall.
“You can’t hide from me forever, Jimmy. I’ll make sure we’re back together for good,” she declared, waiting for a moment before walking to the room Mirabel had offered her, since Jimmy had locked his room before leaving the house.

As days turned into weeks, the secret relationship between Jimmy and Susan began to blossom. They spent countless moments together, their connection growing stronger, all while keeping their romance hidden from Mirabel and the rest of the family. Jimmy had a ready excuse for every time he slipped out of the house, and Jude couldn’t have been happier to see his sister so vibrant and alive in Jimmy’s company. He wished that this joyful chapter could last forever.
Meanwhile, Taylor refused to back down, constantly seeking ways to get close to Jimmy. Yet, he remained steadfast, never granting her the opportunity she sought. Mirabel, however, was relentless in her belief that they should rekindle their romance, despite Greg urging her to let it go. Undeterred, she pressed on. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Susan continued to explore the depths of their love, savoring their moments together without interruption.
