Misunderstanding
When Vincenzo returned home that night, the first thing he did was to check on Freya. When he got to the door, Myra was just leaving with the plates Freya had used to eat.
“How is she?” He asked.
“She’s fine. I think she’s getting along with her new life.”
Vincenzo nodded his head with a heavy sigh. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, sir.”
As she was about to leave, Kelly showed up from nowhere. “Just returning from work and all you have to do is check up on her while your girlfriend is bent on worrying about you.”
Myra wasn’t in the mood to listen to her boring conversation, “I’ll leave you two to be.” she quickly excused herself.
“What’s your problem tonight, Kelly?” He questioned. He was already tired of her nasty attitude.
“My problem is you, Enzo. You are my problem. How can you have me and you’re checking up on another woman who has nothing to do with us.”
“That woman is in that condition because of me. I brought her into that fate.”
“No, Enzo, it’s all her fault she had the accident. I see no reason why she has to be a problem to us.”
“Look, Kelly, I’m really stressed out and definitely not in the mood for this. We’ll talk about this tomorrow.”
“We are talking about this now, Enzo! That girl needs to leave this house for good. Besides, she was leaving fine in her home before the incident happened, she should probably go back to her home for all I care!”
“Well, that’s what you care about. But you need to know I own this house and I have every right to bring whoever I want into my home and I also have the right to walk you out this instant.” Kelly’s heart shattered at his words. “So, if you still want to stay here, then it’s time you learned how to mind your business.”
He ignored her, making his way into Freya’s room. Freya was staring at him with cold eyes as she heard all they had said. He felt guilty for exchanging words before her door, an argument that was meant to be just between the two of them. But then, he couldn’t help with acting normal since Kelly has chosen to be a pain in his ass.
“I’m sorry about that, you shouldn’t have heard all those shits.”
“I think it’s time I leave. I don’t want to be a problem to your relationship.”
Vincenzo was hurt, but hid it. “No, you are not. Kelly shouldn’t be your problem, she’s only stressed out, but don’t worry, I’ll deal with that later. How do you feel now?” He asked, changing the topic.
“You don’t have to change the topic so easily. We both know my stay here will cause a lot of problems and she doesn’t for once appreciate my presence. She doesn’t deserve to leave this mansion, I will leave instead. I think it’s time you take me home.”
“You don’t want to do this, do you?”
“I do.”
“I respect your decision, Freya, but I’m sorry to say this, I can’t grant your wish. You just got out of the hospital, you need attention more than any one. I can’t let you live in that house all alone!”
“I have Daniel, he can take good care of me even if Olsen isn’t.”
“Well, Olsen would do the same if he was me.”
“Olsen is not you. He can never be you.”
“I never said he is.” They were calm for a brief moment. “Your health is what matters right now, any thing aside, it can wait later. I know you still hate me, I won’t stop you, and I won’t give you reasons to prove my innocence. But like I said, you are going nowhere.” He turned to leave but made a stop, “But if not checking up on you will make things better, then I’m willing to do that.” He left in annoyance.
Angry at both women at the same time.
Soon, Myra walked in. She was expecting to see Vincenzo still in the room since the expression that was once on his face when he returned showed how eager he was to spend hours of his time with her, but after the argument which conspired between him and Kelly, she knew things would change.
But then, the look on Freya’s face played a role in her thought. She had assumed some thing must have conspired between Freya and Vincenzo.
“Please tell me you didn’t argue with him.”
“I don’t deserve to be here, Myra. Because of me he got into a fight with Kelly.”
“Kelly shouldn’t matter in any of these, Freya. I think it’s time you learned how useful you are to him and stop letting side thoughts get in your way.”
“Did you hear all she said about me?”
“At least Mr Vincenzo covered your ass, isn’t that enough? Are you evening minding what that bitch says?”
“At least, she had a point.”
“Now I see, you’re the one who isn’t making a point here. You always let side talks get in your way that’s why you find it difficult to see the real pictures. Open your eyes for once, Freya and stop being fooled by worthless things. You know what, I’m done convincing you. Come on, let’s get you to bed.”
Meanwhile, Vincenzo shut himself in a different room to think, not wanting Kelly’s nagging attitudes. He couldn’t believe tonight would turn out to be this way, it pained him that even at this point, Freya was finding it difficult to see how much he loves and cares for her.
She had let her hatred for him take over her. Not like he blames her, he quite knows he deserves more of her hatred. But… But, on the other way round, he deserves her forgiveness.
But then, she wasn’t offering any of these to him. And he knew it was time he let’s go and accept the fact that she doesn’t deserve him.
