Edna didn’t want to release Marvel
Marvel was willing and ready to go play with her sister
She had so much looked forward to playing with Zena
She seems excited that Zena was asking her to come so that they can go and play
She stood up but Edna refused her going
Zena was relieved and offcourse happy that her Mom refused and started walking away
I had to go tell Edna to allow Marvel to go along with Zena.
“I can’t allow Marvel to be out of my sight, especially with Zena who will probably abandon her to go play with her friend..”
The two ladies there spoke almost at the same time, telling Edna to sometimes let go of Marvel so that she can be herself, be dependent and free.
Edna states her reasons and fear
One of the ladies, Beatrice agreed and said Zena can go and leave Marvel
She said Edna’s fear was valid, if she was in Edna shoe she will also feel the same
Tracy, another lady in their means who happens to be Hilda’s Mom disagreed
She advised Edna not to be too attached with Marvel
She also mentioned some of the things that might happen with her attachment.
I agreed with Tracy immediately
Tracy said that since her own daughter, Hilda will be there, there’s absolutely nothing to fear.
Tracy called Hilda and asked her to look out for Marvel and Hilda nodded quietly.
I urged Edna to let Marvel to go have some fun with other kids, promising her that I will put an eye on them
I will always watch to know exactly where they are
Edna finally agreed
Marvel was excited but Zena wasn’t
Well, she doesn’t really have a choice, she will have to welcome Marvel as a paymate.
Marvel’s happiness was very obvious as she tagged along with Zena and Hilda
I needed to join the men but I won’t be able to watch Marvel if I go join the them
I called Jonah who was playing with his friends to keep an eye on Marvel.
Jonah complained that it will mean for him to stop the football game because he can’t be doing both thing at the same time.
Jonah listen to everything I say and if I ask him to quit playing and watch his sister he will definitely do so
But that will be unfair
I want all my kids to have fun during this camp out
I asked Jonah to go back playing.
I began to wish at that instant that we had a maid or a nanny for Marvel that lives permanently with us.
Edna has refused when I suggested it few years ago.
She only allowed Julie who doesn’t live with us and only around whenever Edna was away.
I wish Edna has listened to my suggestions
I wouldn’t have to stop my own fun to watch Marvel
Beside, Marvel was fine
They were playing a tag game
Zena tags Hilda, Hilda tags Marvel
Marvel runs around trying to touch one of them
They laugh as they dribble her
She was having fun, laughing and chasing Zena and Hilda to be able to tag them by touching any of them
If she manages to touch one of them, who whoever she touches will pick up the tag game and will try to tag another person to be free.
I wonder why Zena complained that Marvel can’t play properly
Marvel was playing perfectly fine like a normal kid.
It was all fun and they were happy
Marvel don’t obviously need anyone watching her
What exactly could go wrong?
Absolutely nothing.
I took drink from the box cooler outside the camp and decided to go look for the men and join them
They were just returning from the lake side
They said the lake seems dáñgerous, probably a croc or alligator maybe in it.
They said that they noticed the lake river moving with force and had to leave.
The men also said that late yesterday night, they heard a disturbing noise coming from the forest last night.
Although the lake and the forest is just a mile away from where we camped but it was better to be aware than going close.
It wasn’t safe out there
It’s a good thing that we’re not alone in the camp, also if anything should happen we have a hotel room
Or we can get into our car and be on our way back home if things get serious.
The camping environment is safe enough
There’s a wall demarcating our camp, the forest and the lake.
There’s so many opened gate for people that loves to tour
They only close it around 12am in the night
We’re safe as far as we don’t decide to start going were we shouldn’t.
I was drinking and having a nice time with my friends as the evening breeze greeted us calmly.
We sat around a table, far from where our tents were pitched
Our laughter echoes, it was a large environment.
Edna and the other women were at another far end.
Zena and Marvel with Hilda play at a different side
Jonah too was playing soccer in the small open field.
Activities were ongoing
People were going up and down
The men made chicken barbecue and carried it to where we sat talking and laughing.
I have had about five bottles of drinks
Four alcoholic and a Malta drinks
My head was about spinning, that’s why I decided to top up with the Malta drink instead of more alcohol
We dived into the barbecue chicken and another round of drinks
Different topics were raised, we talked and argued none stop
It been over two hours I left the kids to come chill with the men
It’s been loads of fun
Just then I saw Jonah running towards where we sat
I remember calling the attention of the other men as I pointed to Jonah smiling
“That’s my son, the heir to my throne…my entire empire…”
They laughed and nodded in agreement.
I know that alcohol was already taking over my control but atleast I’m with my family and I won’t be driving to anywhere.
Once I’m done here, I will go to bed straight
“Jonah is a big boy now, he was just a little boy the first time we came camping, how time flies…” Martin said as he took a bite from the meat in his hand.
“This days kids grows so fast, just a blink of an eye and they’re all grown..”Drake added
“How old is he now, 16years..I guess? Julius asked as he drank deeply from his bottle
I began to laugh, I know Julius was begining to see double due to all the alcoholic drinks he has taken
He’s not alone, my own brain was begining to move in circles
I was laughing beyond control and talking out of order
“No, he’s not only 16 years, Jonah here is actually 28 years, he will be getting married next weekend. Hope you will be there.. at his wedding? I’m sure Sam won’t fail to invite you…” Martin said sarcastically
We all burst out laughing.
Jonah chuckled a little as he remained standing.
It seems he wanted to say something to me but I was too occupied with the moment of fun and didn’t give him room.
We laughed so hard until I was almost began to choke.
I drank deeply again from my drink in hand, hitting my chest.
I stood up to go urinate, after I was done I returned back
Jonah was still waiting
“Hey boy, do you want some barbecue…? You can take some to your sisters too…”
My head was filled and already spinning
I stumbled as I felt dizzy like a drúnkard, well I was obviously one at that moment.
I returned to my sit and pick up a chicken lap
I bite into it before stretching out to Jonah who said he didn’t want any.
I didn’t even ask him why as I finished the meat in no time before taking another drink
I guess why Jonah didn’t want to eat could be because he seems worried over something or I didn’t obviously wash my hands after going to urinate
Whatever is his reason, I’m not even thinking towards that direction.
I’m rather too happy to worry.
He knows better not to interrupt when adults are talking and that’s why he waiting, hoping maybe I will ask him what was on his mind
“Dad…dad… Is Marvel with you? She’s missing…Mom sent me to come check if Marvel is here…” Jonah finally said as he could no longer wait for me to be calm enough before he asks
The questions took me off balance
That was unexpected
What do he mean that Marvel is missing?
Could this be a joke or what.
