24 hours earlier.
Ife woke up suddenly to the alarm clock by his bedside. It was 4am in the morning, his usual wake up time. He turned to his side of the bed to see if Omar had also been awoken by the sound of the alarm. But
Omar was still soundly asleep with her leg curled up on the bed in a babylike pattern. He narrowed his gaze closer to her and smiled.
โ She looked beautiful and harmless in her sleep.โ He thought and stretched his arm and feet. He would have wanted to do his morning barbell exercise, but this was Dubai, and there were no barbells in his room except he goes to the gym.
He opened a nearby drawer beside his bed, and brought out his laptop, whisking it in his arm with his phone in his other hand, he headed to the adjoining sitting room.
Placing it carefully on a breakfast table, he began to scroll through the documents sent to him by Mr Perkins one after the other.
That was when the call came in.
He picked his phone from the table and checked the caller ID. It was one of his secret mole in the establishment. There were only two feeding him with the top secret information.
He had barely tapped on the receive call bottom when the voice of the caller echoed in the background.
โ Your step father is at it againโฆ. He is really hot on your tail and is currently planning something worst.โ The voice beamed into his ear.
“What is the drill?โ Ife asked in seriousness.
There was a pause.
โ You need to take the next available flight down to Nigeriaโฆโฆ he knows you are in Dubai and is scheduling a meeting for 2pm tomorrow with plans to inform you late so you wouldnโt be able to show upโฆ..he wants to turn the heart of the members of the board against you!!!โ the voice on the other end said to Ife.
Ife sighed.
โ Does he know Iโm married yet?โ Ife asked.
โ Noโฆ.. but he suspects you will fast track your wedding plans.โ
โ Ok thanks so much sirโฆ. You have been very helpful to me.โ
โ You are welcomedโฆ. Just be careful out thereโฆ.. Goodbye.โ
Ife sighed again.
โ Goodbye Mr Lawal.โ
Moments after he hanged up, he turned and saw Omar standing a few meters behind him, still on her pyjamas.
โ Is everything ok?โ She asked.
โ Yes it isโฆ. Itโs time.โ
โ Time for what?โ
He sat on the couch and gazed at her.
โ Itโs time to return to Nigeria.โ

Back to reality.
โ I told you all he will show up.โ Mr James said with a grin plastered on his face.
Mr Williams; one of the oldest board members, cleared his throat and spoke.
โ You are welcomed Mr Ife Mike Davisโฆ. Shall we proceed to the reason why we are gathered here.โ
Mr Coker straightened from his position and quickly masked his amazement. He knew Ifeโs presence will bring more complications to his ploy, but he will fight to the end. He leaned forward and spoke.
โ You are welcomed Ifeโฆ. Despite the fact that you kept us waiting for a couple of minutesโฆ.. nevertheless, without wasting our time any further, let us proceed to the matters arisingโฆโฆ we are gathered here in review of the proposal submitted some weeks ago about the activation of the leadership by vote system instead of the leadership by shares we are used to.โ Mr Coker boldly said.
โ And why should we review that?….. We all know that Ife is the rightful heir of this company by virtue of inheritanceโฆ. And you Mr Coker, is just a caretakerโฆ.. so why should we activate the leadership by vote just a week to Ifeโs wedding if you do not have any ulterior motive behind this?โ It was Mr James who spoke, But Mr Nwachukwu immediately countered him.
โ Haba Mr Jamesโฆ. Why are you talking like a child!!…. We all know that Ife, although a heir of the company, is still too young and has not much experience in running the company. Besides, his methods are just too modernized compared to our laid down traditional approachโฆ.. Mr Dele Judas, can attest to that factโฆ.. Or isnโt it true Mr Dele?โ Mr Nwachukwu directed his question to Mr Judas.
Mr Judas; also known as Mr Dele by the board members, nodded his head in the affirmative and spoke.
โ I agree with what Mr Nwachukwu just saidโฆ.. and in addition to thatโฆ.we need a matured mind who has a lot of experience as our leader.โ Mr Dele Judas said.
Ife scoffed unbelievably but maintained his silence.
Mr Arnold furrowed his brows into a frown and pointed a finger at Mr Coker.
โ Why now?…. Why are you suddenly pushing for the leadership by vote a week to Ifeโs wedding.โ He asked Mr Coker angrily.
โ Because he knows that the moment Ife gets married, he will be immediately asked to handover the leadership.โ Mr Arnold interjected, fixing his gaze on Mr Coker.
Mr Coker scoffed.
โ Enough of this bantersโฆ. I am still the head of Mike Davis Entertainment until the moment Ife gets marriedโฆ. And so what I say stands right now!!โ He declared, banging the conference table furiously.
Ife laughed out loudly and faced his step father squarely.
โ You lie step father!!!….. I always knew you were power hungry and warned my mom about youโฆ but she wouldnโt listen!!…. And now look were it led us?….. Never ever will I let history repeat itself again and today is the day your evฤซl deeds will be exposed!!โ Ife challenged Mr Coker boldly.
Mr Coker laughed defiantly.
โ And who are you to challenge me?…. You had better be a good boy and be quiet or else you will be dealt with!!โ Mr Coker yelled.
Ife laughed out loudly for a second time.
โ You want to deal with me?โ he repeated Mr Cokerโs word and scoffed.
โ Just like you kฤซlled my mother and attempted to kรญll me!!โ Ife challenged him loudly.
There were loud murmurs among the board members.
Richard clenched his fist in รกnger and charged towards Ife.
โ How dare you speak to my father that way?โ he shouted as he charged towards Ife, but was held by two of the board members.
โ Mr Richard, please calm downโฆ. Letโs not break into a fight.
Ife gave a scowl and faced Richard squarely.
โ If I were youโฆ. Iโll be thinking of getting a good lawyer for my dad right now because your father is about to be jailed!!โ
โ What?… Ife how dare you speak to me in that manner?โ Mr Coker shouted furiously.
Ife pulled out a picture from his suit and threw it at Mr Coker. The picture landed on the table.
โ Do you recognize this man?….โ He asked Mr Coker with a straight face.
Mr Coker took a glance at the picture and was dumbfounded.
Ife saw his expression and smiled.
โ I thought as muchโฆ.. his name is Spider and you sent him to my apartment to kฤซll me!!…. But not to worry dear step father, he has been taken into the police custody and is being questioned right nowโฆ. You two have a lot of catching up to do in jail!!โ
Mr Coker exchanged a glance with Richard and turned back to Ife.
โ I donโt understand what you are saying?…. Are you accusing me of attempted mรบrder?โ Mr Coker stuttered.
โ Yes I am!!…. But that is not all!!โ Ife said and threw two other documents on the table.
โ What is this?โ Richard asked in confusion.
โ This is a newspaper publication were I have openly declared that if anything should happen to me and Omar, the police should have you arrested!!…. You can also check online for more information.โ
โ And what of the second document sir?โ Mr James asked Ife.
โ This is the document of my marriage certificateโฆ. Which means I am legally married now and so I want my dormant shares activated and the leadership handed over to me with immediate effect!!โ
There was another loud murmurs among the board members.
โ You mean you are maโฆ married?โ Mr Judas stuttered.
Just then the door opened and Omar walked in gracefully.
โ Distinguished board membersโฆ. I will like to officially introduce to you my wifeโฆ.. Mrs Omar Mike Davis.โ Ife said with a grin on his face.
