ALEXANDER POV
I woke up feeling weak as I realized I was in the hospital, the only thing I remember was getting off the phone with my mom and then running into a pole after a car light flashed into my eyes making me to lose control of the brake.
“Gosh”. I groan weakly.
” Alex”.
I heard Richard’s voice as he rushed close to me.
“Richard?”.
” You are awake, how are you feeling?”. He asked curiously.
“How did I get here?”. I asked as I managed to sit upright on the bed and noticed a white bandage tied around my head.
” Some good Samaritan brought you here last night, am so happy you are awake”. He said calmly and just then I felt a hit on my shoulder”You moron”.
“What did you do that for?”.
” Do you know how worried I was, How dare you get yourself involved in an accident when you know how worried everyone can get”.he scolded.
“It’s not my fault, it just happened”.
“Were you sleeping on the steering wheel or did you drink? Why didn’t you allow your driver to take you to wherever you were going?”.he said and I sighed tiredly at him.
“But I am fine, it wasn’t something serious”.
” Really?”. he hit my shoulder again and I groan in pain.
“Will you stop hitting me, am the patient here”.
” You moron, I almost had an attack when Aurora called to inform me what happened to you”.
“Aurora?”. I asked surprisedly.” Where is she? Was she here?”.
“Of course she was, she was restless all through the night when she found you in this condition”.
” Where is she now?”.
“Am not telling you”. He said.
” Come on Richard”. I said and he hesitated for a while.
“She left to get some food, she will be back”. He said and I let out a sigh of relief. ” Don’t you ever scare us like this again”. he said and we smiled at each other.
Just then, the door opened revealing Aurora and Nina’s sad faces as they walked in. I noticed Aurora holding a lunch bag and I could see the surprise look on her when she saw me.
“Alex”. She called and ran into my arms and I hugged her tight.” You are awake”.She sobs.
“Am sorry I made you worried”. we pulled away from each other and I caressed her face cleaning off her tears.
” How are you feeling? Should I call the doctor?”. She asked and I rolled my head.
“Am fine, seeing you with me”. I smiled and kissed her forehead.
” How are you feeling sir?”.Nina asked and I smiled at her.
“Am fine, thanks for asking”.
” That’s a relief”. She said.
“I bought you some food, you should eat”. Aurora said and I smiled at her.
” Are you ok?”. I heard Richard talking to Nina as they stared at each other.
“Yes”. She replied.

Later in the day, I was discharged from the hospital and Richard brought me home.
” Is Nora not at home?”. Richard asked as he helped me to my room and I lay down.
“I don’t know”. I replied.
” Ok, just try to relax, and let me tell your maid to fix something for you”.
“Ok, thanks man”. I said and he walked away and then my phone rang, I saw the caller ID and I smiled picking it up.
📞” Are you home now?”.Aurora asked from the other end.
📞 “Yes, not to worry”.
📞” I am relieved now, I was so scared”.
📞”Am sorry for getting you worried”.
📞”Don’t ever try to leave me or try to get yourself hurt”.
📞”I promise, I won’t”. I sighed.”I miss you right now”.
📞”Me too”.
📞”Will you come over?”.
📞”Seriously!” she chuckles
📞”Yeah, I don’t think I will be able to survive the pain in my head tonight without you taking care of me”.
📞”But your friend is there”.
📞”Yeah, Richard is too boring”.
“Huh? Am boring?”. Richard said immediately he stepped in with a tray of food.
” Yes, you are, I prefer Aurora coming here to take care of me”. I said teasing him. he hesitated for a while and then picked up a pillow from my bed and threw it at me.
“You ungrateful fellow, I would have hit you hard on the head, if not that you had a bandage on it”. He said and we laughed.
📞” Am sorry Richard, don’t listen to him, am happy you are there taking care of him”.Aurora apologized over the phone as I placed it on the last speaker.
“Don’t mind this silly Alex of yours”. he replied. ” Is time to eat and take your medication.
“I will eat that later, am still on the phone”. I said.
📞” Come on Alex, I will talk to you later”.Aurora said.
📞”But we just started talking before he came and ruined it”.
📞”No, he didn’t, you eat, so you can get well soon”.
📞”Okay, fine, but on one condition”.
📞”What could that be?”.
📞”That you will come over to my house tomorrow”.
📞”What? Alex, you know that won’t be possible”.
📞”Why not? Deal or no deal? If you don’t accept my condition, you will see me at the office tomorrow”. I threatened and she sighed.
📞”I won’t let you come to the office tomorrow, the doctor said, you need two days’ rest, but, I will come tomorrow”.
📞”You promise?”.
📞”I do”.
📞”OK, I will chat with you later, I love you”.
📞”Love you too”.
We hung and I smiled and started eating the food Richard brought for me as he sat down operating his phone.
“Are you really serious about that?”. he asked and I raised my face to him.
” About what?”.
“That Aurora should come over when Nora is in the house, you know those two can’t stand each other”.
” I don’t care if Nora can’t stand Aurora or not, Aurora is not just my Secretary, but someone special in my heart, Nora knows about it, and besides she is not even at home”. I said and continued eating.
“Yeah, I noticed it, where did she go?”.
” I left her at his parent’s house yesterday, they invited me for dinner”.
“Oh, I thought as much”. he said.

NARRATOR POV
It’s been two days since Alex’s accident and Nora has not returned home. She and Charles were cuddling each other on the bed.
” Do you think he might be worried about you?”.Charles asked.
“He never cares, so, I don’t mind, being here with you feels peaceful”. Nora replies.

Later in the day, Nora returned home, and Kate came over to greet her.
” Welcome back home ma”.
“Thank you”. She turned to leave when he heard Alex’s voice upstairs talking with someone on the phone.” He is home?”. She asked Kate and she nodded.
Alex came down still on the phone and their eyes met, Nora was surprised to see the bandage on his head.
📞”Sure, I will be back at the office tomorrow” ” He hung up and Nora rushed to him quickly.
“What happened to you?”. She asked curiously and tried to touch his head, but, Alex pushed back a little.
“Is nothing serious, am fine”. he replied as he sat down.
” Tell me how it happened, am curious here”.
“I said is nothing and besides where are you coming from?”.
” From my parent’s house of course”. She said nervously.
“Really? I just got off the phone with your dad an hour ago and he asked about you and I told him you haven’t been home for days now, so where were you and your dad told me you left the house after that dinner”. He said and Nora became speechless.
” I”.She sputtered.”Actually I–“.She got interrupted.
“You know what, I don’t care, just want you to know that you are under my roof and your protection and the baby in your womb, are my concerns”. he said and left for his room.
” That was close”.She sighs in relief.”But what happened to him? Where he involved in an accident?”. She asked confusedly.

After work hours, Nina and Aurora walked to the bus station to catch a bus.
“How is Alex doing?”. Nina asked.
” He is getting better”.
“That’s good to know, but did you still go to his house?”. she asked and Aurora sighed.
” I couldn’t go, my grandmother suddenly felt sick and I had to take her to the hospital”. Aurora said.
“Oh, how is she now?”.
” Back to her feet again”.
“That’s good, but did you inform Alex about it?”.
” No”.She sighs.
“But why?”.
” I don’t know, I know he was expecting me to come and I already made a promise to him, but I was scared to call or reply to his text message when he called that day”.
“Aurora, you shouldn’t have done that, he might be worried you know”.
” I know, but I replied to his text messages this morning to say I am sorry for disappointing him and he hasn’t replied”.
“That’s because you stood him up, I guess he is upset, but not to worry, you two can settle it tomorrow when he returns to the office”. She said smiling, then her phone beeped with an incoming message from Richard, she read it and her face became sour.
” Is everything ok?”.
“Yes”. She smiled forcedly.
