[Enigma House – El Crow’s Suite]

There were bloodstains everywhere.

The bed. The floors. The walls.

The cruel, cold shade of red dominated, especially inside the bathroom where El Crow was in.

He stood in front of the mirror, palms rested on the sink bowl and face confronting his own reflection.

He watched as the bloody sweat filtered out of his skin again. It was coming out effortlessly to gather on his skin and cascade down his face.

Not just the face. He was also sweating on his body.

He’s not white anymore. He’s red as a ketchup paste.

There were several rolls of used and discarded tissues on the floors and on that sink bowl itself.

Grunting, he tore another tissue and wiped his face and whole body, then he discarded it like the others.

He didn’t only sweat, he felt pains in his body too. A intense body ache which was setting his system on fire.

As he wiped with tissues, his body responded with torturous agony, and he’d wince before wiping again.

Arturo stormed in.

Seeing the bloody tissues on the floor and El Crow’s reddish skin, he stumbled.

“No… there’s gotta be something. This can’t be happening to you because of that brat Roselle!”

“Roselle?” El Crow faced him with a low groan, body heating harder.

“She was beaten by Castle in the ring. Heard she was taken away with a bleeding…private part.” Arturo struggled to say the last part.

“This isn’t her.” El Crow faced the mirror again, getting another huge roll of tissue for his blood wiping.

“What are you saying?” Arturo frowned confusedly.

“My sweating blood isn’t connected to Roselle.” El Crow panted. “I know how I feel when it’s about her. I know how my head bubbles when the stupid soul bond flares. This is not her. This pain isn’t reaching my head but I’m aching allover my body.”

“Really?” Arturo calmed a bit. “Then why is this happening to you?”

El Crow dumped the bloody tissue and walked past Arturo, returning into his room where he met everyone—Senior Castle and the rest.

Seeing his red skin, their eyes tilted.

“Dude, what the hell!” Blade gasped.

“Is there like a way to go about this? You can’t stay red,” Castle said.

“Does it hurt?” Bishop asked.

“Like a bitch.” El Crow breathed with difficulty, pushing his window open.

He stood by it as the blood began soaking his body again.

“At this point, he’s gonna sweat out all of his blood,” Lovato worriedly said, fingers folded.

“But he’s not gonna die. He can’t die,” Kent said in little relief.

“Can’t die, but the pains? He’s obviously in pains,” Blade said.

Their eyes went back to El Crow who’s still by his window.

El Crow held the window hinges with his bloody hands, staring at Skylar’s window across his own.

The only person he had a close interaction with and even licked her blood last night was her.

She’s the only suspect, but there has to be an evidence to prove it before he can make moves.

His eyes were evilly bloodshot as he rested his whole frame on the window, grunting with pale lips.

“I’ll go see any witch in the quarters. There has to be a solution to this somewhere,” Arturo said when his eyes couldn’t take it anymore.

“I’ll go with you sir.” Castle moved, and they both stepped out.

—

[Dread House]

Midnight removed the transfusion pipes and took a deep breath, signifying the end of it.

Roselle’s bleeding stopped since few minutes ago when her body began taking in Skylar’s blood.

Now she only has to wake up.

Skylar stood from the bed she sat on, but before she could move, she was crossed by Satan’s figure.

She went still, and seeing Satan’s eyes, she knew something else was definitely coming.

She sat back.

“What happened in the cage last night? Why did the cage shatter?” Satan’s question was fluid.

The first thought that came to Skylar’s mind was lying, but that won’t be of help because she’s being watched everytime.

Satan probably knew the answer to this question already. It’s a trick.

“I had a fight with the stitchmouth. He came to find me at the cage,” She confessed coldly.

Using her smallest finger, Satan lifted Skylar’s chin, and their eyes struck.

“I knew something was abnormal somewhere when I saw the extraordinary moves you both made during your fight in the ring, but then my Armies reported to me that they saw you and El Crow breaking the cage metals last night. The strongest metals existing?” She muttered.

“It was Aftermoor.” Skylar threw her eyes away. “I failed to kill him, so I suffer heartache whenever he’s close. But I get mysterious strength whenever he’s close too. He also gets the strength when I’m close.”

“And I’m guessing you got healing ability too.” Midnight touched Skylar’s shoulder. “Considering the fact that your broken shoulder is set.”

Skylar smirked.

Midnight was as smart as he looked. Keeping things from him was fatally impossible. He knew everything, and that’s why fooling him was hard.

Midnight was like Satan’s police.

“And you’re aware that I don’t care the slightest about your heartache around him, right?” Satan said.

“You’ve never cared about me!” Skylar looked up. “Stop making it sound like you’ve ever cared!”

Midnight flung his palm at Skylar’s face. The slap echoed.

Skylar’s cheeks stung, but she didn’t react of move. It meant nothing.

“Bloody ingrate!” Midnight barked out. “You were taken from an orphanage where there’s no future. Now you’re already one of the top fighters in this city. Ask anyone about Skylar Vox in New Orleans, it’s a big name, but if you had remained at the orphanage, you think you’d have made it this big?”

Skylar stood challengingly, grinning.

“Orphanage?” She faced Satan. “Swear to the soil of New Orleans that you really took me from an orphanage. I know I have no memory of when I was taken cos I was still a baby back then, but there’s no way you could have taken me from the orphanage! I made researches about my Apex blood, and it’s only attached to wealth! People with Apex blood are naturally born into wealth so wherever you took me from, it’s not a damn orphanage!”

This time, it was Satan herself who folded her fist and sent it to Skylar’s face—a deadly punch.

Skylar staggered and fell on her butt as blood lined out of her nostril.

Satan went on a squat, her short hair covering one of her eyes as she stared diabolically at her.

“How many times have you tried to kill me and escape? Three times! And each time, you were always caught and brought back by me. You can’t run away from me, cos I own this city. I’ll find you before you get to the nearest bus station. You can’t defeat me, cos I and Midnight personally trained you and sharpened your ability. And you know another thing?” She grabbed Skylar’s neck.

Skylar grunted in her mercy.

“The next time you enter the ring with El Crow and fail to kill him or give him a brutal wound that’ll ground him for years, I’ll have to kill you and look for another Apex blood vessel. You’re not the only Apex blood type in this world, Skylar Vox.”

With that, she let go and stood from her squatting position.

Skylar stood from her ground position too, her neck bearing imprints of Satan’s five fingers.

Her nose still had the blood bleed, and she didn’t bother to wipe. She stayed rigid, cold, hardheaded.

Midnight passed the invite to Satan, and Satan passed it to Skylar.

“Here, you got an invite. I have no idea why Marisa Cesar would even want you at her banquet.”

Skylar looked at the invite, and when she saw it’s really Marisa Cesar on it, she literally snatched it.

She opened it and saw her name on the invited line as VVIP.

“How is this…. possible?”

“You were invited as VVIP, meaning you get to bring a plus-one. You’ll go with Roselle.” Satan said.

Skylar didn’t wait to hear the rest. She left the office hurriedly, heart slamming with joy.

She had never been this joyful all her life. She has never been.

She kept checking the invite out without looking where she’s going. She bumped into some Dreads.

“Look where you’re going, bitch!”

“Are you blind?!”

But she wasn’t hearing their curses. All that’s in her mind was the invitation in her hand which felt like pure, golden gold.

Marisa Cesar, New Orleans sweetheart?

Marisa Cesar, her role model,
invited her her banquet?

She smiled warmly, stopping in front of the house and inhaling.

First, the hair cutting that has been planning? It’s time for it.

She’s gonna go cut this hair to short and free herself from the annoying prickling everytime.

She jumped on her motorbike.

—

[Treatment Room]

Roselle sat up immediately Skylar left the room. She looked better now, and healthier.

An Army brought in a cup of warm tea. She took it and drank directly from the cup, slowly.

“Why the fuck would Marisa Cesar invite her to the banquet? Her?”

“You get to go too.” Satan sighed.

Roselle shot up, tossing the teacup away. “As a plus-one! Skylar got invited originally, but I’m going as a plus one! I am your daughter, not her! The right thing to do is take the invite and burn it so no one goes!”

“Shut up!!” Midnight yelled angrily.

Roselle faced him.

“You think we didn’t think that?” Midnight glared. “Of course we did, but that won’t work! We’ve been trying to get Marisa’s attention for years, and now she sent an invite for someone in our team as VVIP? You even get to go as a plus-one. You know how many royals are struggling to get a plus-one spot to the banquet? You should rest and go wear a pad!”

Roselle faced Satan.

“Now that you heard what you wanna hear, how do you feel?” Satan sighed, taking her seat.

Before Roselle could talk, Rosita cake in with crossed arms.

“Sometimes, I wonder if I’m a part of this family at all.” She scoffed.

“What are you talking about?” Roselle scowled at her.

“Why are you the one going to the banquet when I’m the one who knows how to set connections? I’m the one who talks better!”

“Talk better?” Roselle laughed. “Rosita, my mouth is not for decoration, I talk too like a human! Don’t try to glaze yourself. Besides, mother and Midnight knew what they were doing before choosing me to go. Stop being jealous!”

Rosita’s lips curled. “Yunno when Skylar failed to beat El Crow, she was locked up in the Shame Cage, but you failed to beat Castle, and you’re here receiving treatment? You should be ashamed of your existence!”

“Jealous bitter freak!!” Roselle shouted, pointing. “See that bitterness you exhibit? That’s what’s gonna kill you later! Bitter whore!!”

“Roselle!” Satan cautioned, but she didn’t stop.

“I’m gonna go to that banquet, dress in my most luxurious dress, impress Marisa Cesar and bring more glory to this Team, but you? Stay bitter!” She laughed at Rosita’s face.

Rosita blinked, unaffected by her taunts and jeers.

“I’ll be here when you return from the banquet with shame. I just know you’ll fuck up one way or another.” She muttered and snickered at Satan and Midnight before stepping back.

By the door, she looked turned.

“Oh, and the rogues who were arrowed to death in the Cage of Shame? I did it,” She lied. “Just so you know, I’ll always support Skylar.”

With that, she stormed out.

“You and that Skylar will die untimely!” Roselle cussed.

“One more word, Roselle, and Rosita will go in your place.” Satan said.

That was enough to make Roselle stop talking.

Roy came in, carrying a unopened pack of pads.

“Heard you needed them,” he said.

Roselle walked out with a hiss, and Roy followed her with the pads.

“I was about to ask you to start investigating the dead rogues cos I know Skylar doesn’t kill with arrows, but it’s actually Rosita?” Satan said.

“When Rosita is angry, she’ll say anything to hurt people, so I have doubts if she really did it. I’ll still investigate it.” Midnight responded.

“And this might be the right time to put her in the ring,” Satan mentioned. “The next match is next week, isn’t it? Rosita will be representing this team.”

“I know.” Midnight said.

Satan looked at him, and they shared a stare so dark it made the office lights flicker abnormally.

—

[Middle Tier – Quincy’s Room]

Renee’s head felt better when she opened her eyes to take in the room lights. Her hurting bones and aching flesh were back to normal too.

She struggled to recognize her environment at first, but seeing the italicized Adams surname on the wall, she shot up in bed.

She’s in Quincy’s room.

“Fuck!” She got down from the bed quickly, and at the same time, Quincy entered with a takeout ice cream.

“You’re up?” He smiled. “I got you ice cream, your favorite flavor.”

Renee didn’t bother wearing her shoes. She dashed for the door, whizzing past him like air.

Before she could open the door, Quincy blocked her, closed the door, and pocketed the key.

She turned her back on him.

“Open this door, Quincy.”

“No I won’t, and if you keep running away from me like this, then maybe you have another elder brother.” He mumbled in a low tone.

“What happened between us is an abomination!” Renee snapped with a sniffle. “Stop acting like it’s nothing! If you didn’t send a letter to your crush, we wouldn’t be in this mess!”

“Skylar is not my crush!” Quincy denied flatly. “Can’t a boy just try to befriend a girl because he likes her aura? I like Skylar as a friend, and I know she’s lonely and friendless even if she doesn’t say it. I only want to be her friend and maybe get trainings from her to take us to Top Tier! If I was crushing on her, you’d be the first one I tell. I never keep anything from you, Renee. Please, I’m—”

“But it still happened, Quincy.” She cut in, voice teary. “Your face was between my legs and—”

“It never happened!” Quincy snapped. “If we pretend it never happened and just live our lives here, make our way up to Top Tier and gather enough money, we’ll be fine.”

Renee turned, facing him. Her face was already wet with tears.

Quincy quickly held her face, wiping the tears as they fell.

“It never happened, Renee, ok? It never happened. Don’t think about it, and we’ll be fine.”

Renee nodded, sobbing as she wrapped her arms on him in a sisterly embrace.

Her tears wet his shoulder.

Quincy hugged her back, rubbing her hair fondly and at the same time blinking back his own tears.

—

[10PM]

Skylar returned, looking different. She looked different whenever she got an haircut, but this was insane.

It was the lowest she got.

This wasn’t a bob that reached her shoulders or a damn wolf cut. It was a shorter cut which gave her the boyish vibe she wanted. Handsome and beautiful at the same time.

She got an extra tattoo too—on her left arm where El Crow shot her at that year. She drew a red apple tattoo to cover the wound scars.

As she got off her bike and sauntered into the house, Dreads made way for her. No one would want to cross.

“Heard she got invited to Marisa’s banquet.”

“THEE Marisa Cesar? How is that possible?”

“Marisa’s invite list is private as fuck. Royal bloods even compete to get invited yearly.”

“And of all people, Skylar?”

“Roselle and Rosita would be crashing out right now.”

“Roselle is going as a plus-one, so I heard.”

“Roselle is going too? They’re so lucky!”

“Wait…is our Team about to go global with this invite?”

“No matter how global we go, the stitchmouth is still Marisa’s son, and his team boss is still her ex-husband. They’re still at more advantage.”

Skylar made her journey her priority. She didn’t stop till she arrived at her suite and threw the door open.

She sat on her bed edge, opening her phone gallery.

Not one picture of her, but there were so many pictures of Marisa.

They filled her gallery from start to finish. She kept scrolling around, staring with high admiration.

Most of the pictures were from years and years ago when Skylar hadn’t been born. Pictures of Marisa Cesar inside the ring, fighting.

Pictures of Marisa Cesar collecting medals, belts, trophies.

Marisa collected thousands of them.

Marisa Cesar, the best and only fighter who beat more than five hundred men before her retirement.

She had no team in her own time. She fought alone and won alone for years before her retirement.

She wasn’t only strong, but too beautiful. The strongest female fighter in the world.

She was and is the standard. Kings, monarchs and sovereigns wanted her. Even Presidents and Billionaires wanted her, but she rejected them all.

Skylar has respected Marisa since she heard her story, and she made her a incomparable role model.

She had been hoping fervently to meet her. Who knew the opportunity would come this easily?

Now she can’t wait for the banquet D-Day to arrive.

She stood from the bed, and the cleaning woman entered, placing Skylar’s folded clothes in bed.

“They’re all cleanly washed and carefully ironed,” She said.

Skylar moved closer to her, but the woman shifted away.

Before Skylar could say anything, she left the room.

“She’s weird as hell, but who am I to complain when I’m weird too?” Skylar muttered, walking to her closed window.

It’s been quite these days. The stitchmouth hadn’t been bringing sluts to fuck by his window to intentionally disturb her.

A breath of fresh air.

She opened the window, and the sight she met made her heart glad.

El Crow is by his window too, and he looks like a freshly plucked ripe pepper with his body redness.

He’s still sweating blood, standing still by his window, pained.

It worked.

The opaque liquid worked.

Skylar’s mouth bent into a unhinged smile when their eyes met.

Of course he won’t die, but the pain is what he deserves.

Despite the pain clawing at his soul, El Crow’s stare stayed poisonous, clashing with her venomous stare.

Their eyes stabbed each other till they were mentally tearing each other’s souls apart.

Skylar’s chest began aching hard, and she quickly threw her window shut, grabbing the chest and groaning.

She can only use her extraordinary mysterious strength when he’s around, but at the same time, she gets heartache when he’s around her.

Well played, Aftermoor.

Well played.

This is absolute nonsense.

There has to be a way to use her strength even without him around.

Now that she thinks about it, going to Ayana won’t be important.

There should be a way for her to summon Inferno.

But for now, she’s going to prepare for Marisa’s birthday banquet.

—

[Marisa Cesar’s Manor-Private Room]

The room looked like a record room with the frames hanging desperately to the walls, trophies sitting pretty on shelves, medals suspended from spirals, and belts on hangers.

The large room was fully full of Marisa’s achievements and pictures, so much that there’s no space to walk in. Even the floors were occupied.

The little space left in the middle is for a small couch and footstool.

Marisa sat on the couch, head hung on the headrest and lulling side to side as she stared drowsily as her achievements.

She’d frequently visit this room just to stare at her own pictures on the wall and her achievements on shelves and suspenders and hangers.

This was her peace room.

No alcohol. No wine. No smokes.

But there’s a plate of cookies on the floor which she picked from and took a bite, chewing modestly.

With her second hand, she pulled out a drawer below the footstool.

Inside the drawer, there’s a really small doll with long hair and fierce eyes—and tall legs.

For a while, Marisa watched the doll with intrigued, hooded eyes.

Then she got a small comb from that same drawer, brushing the doll’s long hair gently, slowly.

“I’m finally meeting my Tall Doll,” she whispered in a dark hush.

— — —

[Days Later – Dread House]

It was finally the banquet day.

The anticipation on everyone’s faces was glaring. Dreads looked anxious to see what Roselle would be wearing or which car would be taking her.

They stayed alert at the balcony, rooftop and driveway.

Rosita sat on the balcony edge, vaping silently.

When Roselle came out, she didn’t break their expectations.

Theme of the banquet; Dress To Kill. Color; Black.

Roselle wore a backless butterfly dress, carefully crafted for her.

It was long, covering her knees, but the butterfly design was the actual masterpiece, and her high br+sts, thanks to push-up bra.

Hip pads made her hips curvy.

Her fragile white hair swayed prettily with the air, and her heels looked even more expensive.

Skylar appeared a minute later, wearing a nylon dress on low heels.

Roselle blinked, laughing.

“You’re really gonna go like that?”

Skylar took off the nylon in front of everyone, revealing her original dress crafted with chains of silver.

It reached the middle of her thighs, and it’s got thin straps. She didn’t need push-up bra. The silver chains in the dress pushed her br+sts up naturally, and her delicate neckline carried the dress so hard.

Plus the new haircut, and those long sexy legs.

She set fire on the nylon dress and then continued her walk, the silver dangling and making faint noise.

Roselle stopped talking.

Satan had told the clothing store to bring dresses for them, and she choose before Skylar, so why did she not see Skylar’s dress then?

“I’m right behind you, Skylar!” Rosita intentionally shouted.

“You’re the real deal, Roselle!” Roy added too.

Roselle smiled, entering the car first.

Quincy and Renee came out to the balcony too. Quincy gave Skylar a thumbs up while Renee stayed mute.

Skylar entered the car with Roselle.

It’s a Mercedes S-Class.

She hates cars. She’d always pick her bikes, but she had no choice.

Only Roselle sat at the backseat. Skylar sat in front with the driver.

She smiled as the drive began.

—

Thirty long minutes was what the drive took. Thirty full minutes.

They arrived at the woods, and Skylar wondered what was going on.

What kind of person was her role model? Why would she choose these cold dark woods as her home?

As she came out of the car with Roselle, she couldn’t stop staring at the manor, wondering.

“She’s so strange,” Roselle hissed. “Heard she’s so proud she said other humans don’t deserve to live around her, so she choose this place.”

And instantly, the uniformed stewards stepped out of the manor, smiling radiantly in one direction.

They bowed to Skylar alone.

“Glad to have you here, VVIP.”

Roselle blinked.

Why were they bowing to only Skylar?

—

[Enigma House – El Crow’s Suite]

It’s worse now.

The body ache. The blood-sweat.

The shakiness, sickness and paleness.

It’s unbearable now.

It’s been confirmed that he was poisoned, but Arturo was unable to get a medicine that’d cure the poison.

The witches in the quarters didn’t even know what he was poisoned with in the first place.

No one could decipher it, so he could only lock himself in here and suffer in sickness and brutal pains.

The most amusing part is that as he was sweating blood, there was no blood shortage in his system.

In fact, his blood level stayed normal, so where is the blood he’s sweating coming from? No idea.

Now, it’s not only the blood-sweat. The soul bond was flaring up again. The fucking soul bond.

And right now in his head, he could envision Roselle.

He could see her in a exclusive banquet. He saw it clearly.

He got down from his bed in his bloody white shirt and white pants.

He couldn’t walk straight.

He couldn’t think.

All he’s seeing is blood and Roselle.

He lifted his pillow, picked a handgun and staggered out of the room barefooted in his madness.

At the park, he got in his car and drove off like a lunatic.

Blade was the first to see his car driving off.

He alerted the others.

Bishop and Kent rushed out too.

“Where the f+k is he going like that?” Kent asked breathlessly.

“No idea. Unless we follow.” Blade swallowed.

Castle rushed out too.

“He’s gone?” He panted.

“Senior Castle!” Lovato emerged, clinging to his arm.

“Stop it!” Castle took his arm from her crankily. “El is running mad! This isn’t the time to act like a baby!”

Lovato shifted back, tears gathering in her eyes already.

“You don’t shout at her like that!” Bishop snapped at Castle.

Castle’s eyes flicked.

—

[Marisa Cesar’s Manor]

Roselle still couldn’t stop thinking about the disrespect of the stewards.

They greeted Skylar and not her?

Because she’s a plus-one?

She was fuming as they were led into the hall that’s tucked somewhere inside the weird mansion.

The stewards opened the double doors, and both Skylar and Roselle stopped by the entrance, staring at the settings of the interior.

Orchestras played peaceful instruments of cello and violins and the sax, but the piano was still unplayed. The piano seat is empty.

Marisa herself wasn’t in sight yet.

No single man here.

The guests were all young girls like them. And they’re obviously daughters of rich families, royal blood, billionaire brats, wearing dresses worth millions, carrying careful updos and cocktails.

Some of them even wore different versions of Roselle’s butterfly dress.

Seeing that, Roselle faced Skylar.

“See? Nothing can buy class at all. It’s a natural gift, and if it’s not there, it’s not there. Skylar Vox. Watch how I take your place as the VVIP guest.”

Skylar said nothing.

“Everyone in this city knows Roselle Osborne. Watch how I prove that.” Roselle added arrogantly.

She adjusted herself, and the wealthy girls finally noticed them.

Most of them dropped their cocktail glasses with wide eyes.

They began rushing over to them.

Roselle smiled widely, walking to meet them too, but…

Air left her lungs when they rushed past her like they didn’t see her.

Roselle paused and twisted, looking back to see them surrounding Skylar.

“Hi, Skylar Vox.”

“Hey, you look good in that dress.”

“I’ve always loved your sexy legs.”

“Your matches are my favorite thing to watch on TV.”

“You’re more beautiful in person.”

“I’m lesbian. Can we hook?

Skylar stayed still, receiving the questions and admiration from the rich girls. She smirked hotly.

Her dark eyes found Roselle who looks frozen where she stood.

“You can’t relate, can you?” Skylar mouthed at her with clear ridicule.

TBC.
