The lecture concluded, and Jimmy’s friends hurried over to him.

“How’s it going, man?” Samuel asked.

“Going great, I guess,” Jimmy replied.

“How’s Aunt Susan? Have you heard from her?” Austin asked.

“I called Uncle Jude, and he said she’s fine,” he said, as Austin patted his shoulder.

“Seriously, are you really going to call it quits?” Samuel pressed.

“Yeah, I don’t want to see her getting humiliated because of me,” Jimmy confessed.

“But you love her,” Austin pointed out.

“I still do. I want to give her time to heal from all the trauma. She deserves someone better, someone more advanced,” Jimmy explained.

“Jimmy,” Taylor interrupted, her voice cutting through the conversation. “Can we talk?” she asked.

“What do you want, Taylor?” Jimmy replied, his tone cautious.

“Let’s talk privately, please,” she insisted. Jimmy hesitated, but his friends nodded in encouragement for him to go with her.

They left the classroom and walked to the basketball hall, where a few students lingered around. As Taylor leaned in to kiss him, he instinctively pushed her away.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Please, Jimmy, I want you back. Let’s give each other another chance,” she pleaded.

“No, Taylor. We’re done,” he stated firmly.

“Please, I know I messed up. Let me fix things,” she said, reaching for his hand, but he withdrew it.

“There’s nothing to fix. We can never be together. We are done,” he reiterated.

“I can’t live without you, Jimmy,” she said, her voice breaking as tears began to fall.

Jimmy sighed, exhaustion creeping into his demeanor. “We’re not compatible. I love someone else, and you know it. It’s best if you stop trying,” he said, turning away from her.

Taylor watched him walk away, sorrow etched on her face. Her friends, who had been secretly observing, emerged from their hiding place to comfort her.

“What did he say?” Anna asked, noticing the increase in Taylor’s tears.

After a brief pause, they settled down, continuing to offer her comfort.

“I believe the only way Jimmy will want you back is through his mother,” Anna suggested, prompting puzzled glances among them.

“What do you mean?” Ruby asked.

“It’s simple. Now that the entire truth is revealed and Aunt Susan is no longer in the picture, you can meet his mom. She’ll accept you back into her son’s life,” Anna explained.

“Do you think that will work?” Taylor asked.

“It’s worth a try,” Anna affirmed, and they all let out a collective sigh.

*Susan’s Apartment*

At the dining table, Susan and her brother were sharing a meal, yet Jude couldn’t shake the somber expression that lingered on her face.

“Um, when do you plan to return to the office?” he asked, attempting to lift the mood.

“Soon,” she replied, her gaze fixed on her plate.

“It’s been a week; you need to get back on your feet,” he urged.

“I am fine.”

“You’re not, sis. I’m worried.”

“Don’t be, Jude. I’ll be okay; I just need time to gather myself,” she insisted. He sighed, concern marked across his features as his phone rang. Upon seeing the caller ID, he reached for it, but she stopped him. “Don’t answer it,” she said, confusion washing over him.

“Why not?”

“I know it’s Jimmy calling; just don’t pick up.”

“Come on, sis. Don’t be so harsh toward him; he genuinely cares about you.”

“Please, just stop. I don’t want to hear it,” she replied sharply, rising from the table. Jude sighed wearily as she walked away, and the phone rang again. Reluctantly, he answered, beginning a conversation that would change everything. Jimmy sighed from the other end of the phone, hearing Jude’s update

“She doesn’t want to talk to me, does she?” he asks, his voice low.

“Give her time, Jimmy. She’s hurting.” Jude said gently.

“I just want her to be happy… even if it’s not with me” he says.

“Don’t say that, Jimmy. You don’t have to give up just yet. I know she loves you too; she’s just afraid,” he said, and Jimmy sighed heavily on the other end of the phone.

Meanwhile, at Greg’s house, everyone was gathered around the dinner table, except for Jimmy, who had steadfastly refused to join them despite Rachel’s numerous attempts to coax him down.

“Mom, it’s been a week since Jimmy stopped eating with us. Don’t you think it’s time to lift his grounding?” Rachel asked.

“I will, once he learns his lesson,” she replied. Just then, Jimmy descended the staircase, dressed and ready to leave. “Where do you think you’re going?” she inquired.

“I’m hanging out with my friends,” he stated firmly.

“You can’t leave while you’re still grounded.”

“Mom, please, give me a break. I know you grounded me from seeing Aunt Susan. You’ve won; we don’t see each other or talk anymore. She’s blocked me on every platform, even her contact list. I need to live my life! I’ve been idle for weeks. Just let me breathe the air of freedom for once,” he implored.

“Fine! I’m glad to hear you two no longer communicate. But if I find out that you’re still meeting or talking, I won’t just ground you again; I’ll send you out of this country to continue your studies, and that way, you’ll never see each other again.”

“There’s no point in threatening me with that. I was planning to leave anyway,” Jimmy retorted as he walked away, leaving them to sigh in his wake.

Later at the bar, Jimmy and his friends settled in, relishing their moment together.

“Finally, your mom let you out,” Austin teased, taking a sip from his drink. Jimmy shrugged, a smile playing on his lips.

“It’s really a pain in the neck,” he replied, and Samuel gave his shoulder a reassuring pat.

“Don’t worry too much; it’s going to be fine. You’ll get through this,” Samuel encouraged.

“Let’s toast to freedom!” Austin exclaimed, and they clinked their glasses together before taking hearty gulps.

As the night wore on, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Samuel and Austin drifted into the crowd, dancing with a few girls, while Jimmy remained at his seat, savoring his drink. His friends had urged him to join, but he was content to enjoy his solitude.

“Hey, handsome,” a lady approached him, her smile inviting.

“Hey,” Jimmy replied, returning her warmth with a grin.

“Mind if I join you?” she asked politely, and Jimmy nodded, gesturing for her to take a seat. “Lovely night, isn’t it?” she continued, and he nodded again, sipping his drink. “So, why don’t we make some fun out of it?” she said, her fingers brushing lightly against his hand.

“What kind of fun?” Jimmy asked, attempting to maintain his composure.

“Really?” she chuckled, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “A fun that will take you to another world.” At her words, Jimmy instinctively withdrew his hand.

“Sorry, not interested. I have a girlfriend,” he replied firmly.

“Oh, really? But I didn’t see her around here. Are you just using that as an excuse?” she pressed, advancing closer, and Jimmy began to feel uncomfortable with her boldness.

“I…” he started, but was caught off guard when the lady leaned in, sitting on the table before him and caressing his face.

“Don’t be so tight; I know you want me,” she said, leaning in to kiss his cheek. But just then, a hand shot out, blocking her advance and startling both her and Jimmy.

“He’s mine,” Susan declared, and they turned to see her, slightly tipsy and wobbling as she stood.

“A…Aunt Susan,” Jimmy exclaimed, surprised.

“You know her?” the lady asked, curiously.

“Yes, now back off!” Susan commanded, her tone leaving no room for argument. The lady frowned but retreated angrily. “Go on, loser!” Susan called after her, then turned back to Jimmy, a playful smile on her lips. She stumbled slightly and landed in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck.

“What are you doing here?” he asked, holding her gently around the waist.

“You! How dare you let another lady touch you!” she replied, and Jimmy chuckled, bemused by her drunken antics.

“Don’t be angry, I wasn’t going to do anything with her”.he said and Susan pout, making a sulking face which made jimmy laughed. “How many did you drink, you look wasted”.He teased.

“Take me home, jimmy”.She said.

“Sure, let’s get you home”. he stood up helping her into his arms and gave a nod gesture to his friends who were watching from the crowd and he left with her.
