Through The Shadow-Episode 7

     ” Thank goodness you are here” Louisa breathe out.

“Where is she?” Bayley asked, panting heavily..she had continuously ran to thiis place.

“In the cellar”

“Cellar?; what’s she doing there?” Bayley cocked her head in surprise.

“Hiding from me if am correct”

“Oh crap…this is definitely not fair. Come on let’s get her” Bayley said dragging Louisa along.

“What if she run away this time,out of the Mansion?” Løūïsã asked, looking so worried.

“Trust me,she won’t. Besides quit bothering yourself. I’m just gonna ask her few questions then we’ll take her back to where she came from, I bet her parents must be sick worried” Bayley retorted.

“He’ll yeah. They must be”

Louisa’s brow furrowed More.

“Damn you Louisa. I’ve never seen you this worried before. Don’t tell me you still got a soft spot… You should look at the mirror right now, that look really don’t suite you. .. 

I prefer you cold to worried. You look so unlike you”.

“Bet I do” Louisa shrugged.

   When they got to the cellar, they could hear soft sobs. She hid herself behind the Ward

“Ciara?” Bayley called in a whisper.

“Hey… Ciara  it’s me Bay…let. I’m a friend, Don’t be scared. You can come out now..no one will hurt you.. I don’t bite”

She added whispering  softly to her.

“I’m scared of her” Ciara said soberly.

Bayley turned to Louisa, twitching her brow.

“You don’t have to be, she’s not gonna hurt you okay. Remember she saved your a** last night.

If she really wanted to, she’d have let that man have his way with you. She’s harmless Ciara, she’s my best friend so I can assure you.” 

Bayley clinched tryna keep her cool.

“But people say she’s…

“Forget what people say or think , it doesn’t matter. 

For the Love of Pete Ciara, Løūïsã f**king saved your @** last night ..and is this how you are gonna say a thank you to her?” 

Bayley retorted rather harshly.

“Stop Bay, you don’t have to be rash. You’re gonna scare her more” Louisa shooked bayley.

” I wonder why you say I’ve got my ways with children. This girl is really pissing me off.

“I’m sorry” Ciara sobbed coming out of her hiding place.

“Wait. What?” Bayley paused. Turning her gaze to the sorry Ciara.

“I’m sorry Miss Louisa. Forgive me”

Ciara pleaded in a rush, grabbing Louisa’s hand , giving her a pleading eye.

Louisa looks stunt.. not knowing what to say to this lil girl.

” Come on Louisa say something, she’s out now” Bayley shrugged her shoulders.

   Louisa felt numb. 

Here is Bayley and this little girl clutched to her fingers asking for her forgiveness.

How was she gonna say I forgive you?..

How’ was she gonna go soft on this girl? 

Løūïsã felt a lump in her throat making it almost impossible to say a word 

” You are so boring Isa…say something already” Bayley frowned.

“I….uhn… Errm. I forgive you”

She finally spilled out.

“Thanks Miss Louisa… thank you so much” Ciara hugged her so tight. 

Leaving Louisa in puzzlement.

Bayley stared bluntly at her friend. She doesn’t even know how to hug a soul.

“Wrap her like this isa” Bayley Mouthed in demonstration 

“Oh.” Louisa did as Bayley said and wrapped her.

Ciara felt so warm and dried.

Louisa has almost forgotten how it felt like to be caught in an embrace.

It’s feels so good . Damn good! She thought and hugged her more to herself.

Then Ciara broke free feeling satisfied.

” Come now Ciara, we’ve got some questions to ask you” Bayley said leading the way back to the sitting room.

Getting there, they all sat down.

Ciara sat next to Louisa clutching her fist into hers. Causing Louisa to blush.

Louisa really likes Ciara. She has never felt this way for anyone before.

“So Ciara Cole as you are called, where are you from?” Bayley started.

“I’m from $t. Lucas…

“St. Lucas? Never heard of such town in New York City. Let’s skip that. 

What were you doing last night in the dark ? Were you with someone? Anyone? Parent? Sibling? Friend?”

“No. I was with no one” Ciara’s face saddened.

Making them more confused.

” Now I am confused Ciara. What are you doing in New York City all by yourself?” Bayley asked.

“I….I live with a woman. Madam Schwez, I lost my parents at age nine and my uncle took me in a week later. But he cared less and never concerned about my well being.

After six months of staying with him, he got tired and complained of the mouths he gets to feed daily. He put me on sale and I was bought by Madam Schwezilia..

Madam Schwezilia recruits young girls like me.

She sends us out to the streets to beg and pickpockets. 

We made much for her, we’ll steal money, pick pocket jewelrys and snatch handbags.

We made lots of money for her.

But the task is very risky. Most of us got kidnapped, some got arrested and placed in welfare. 

Welfare is a den no child wants to dream of. But it was a way if punishing Young thiefs like us.

Madam Schwezilia made sure we made much a day. If we made less. She’ll starve us for the night and morning or worse. She’ll beat us until we steal much.

Yesterday I hadn’t much and I was very hungry.

The little I made I used it for food with the hope of stealing another.vbut it was getting really late and I had nothing.

I toured round St. Lucas but couldn’t find a pretty. I decided to extend my tour. That was how I found my self in New York City. But I couldn’t go back cause I was lost and so scared in the dark.

On a search for where I’d spend the night , that was when I encountered that scaryman that almost raped me. Until Miss Louisa showed up and saved me.

  Ciara sobbed . Embracing Louisa once more.

” it’s okay Ciara, you’re safe now. You’re safe with me” Louisa assured kissing her on her hair.

“I’m gonna be truthful. This madam schweri..or whatever she’s called is damn ruthless . Recruiting young lively girls to a very bad job.

She deserves to be in jail” 

Bayley cussed.

” I’ll make sure of that. She must go to jail, she deserves it” Louisa added gently patting Ciara on her back.

“Please I beg you. Don’t take me back there.. I can’t go back please.” Ciara pleaded.

”jeez! Am not Mad to take you back Ciara. We are going to the police station later today to write a statement and then to the court to Pend your case until this Madame is found and put in jail.

I want the law to know I didn’t kidnap you but rescued you and decided you stay with me for a while so the court won’t question me..

Is that okay with you Ciara?”

Louisa asked… that’s the best she can do for her at the moment.

“Yes! Am okay with it.  Thank you so much.

I don’t want to go back there. It’s hell!

I really can’t risk it.

Thank you too miss Bayley” Ciara smiled broadly feeling  like a heavy load just dropped off her shoulders.

Yeah. It does feel really good to be out of hell.

But is she really out??

If she’s out, it’s partially just for now.

No one knows what this Schwez is capable of🤔🤔 🤔.
