“I need your help.” Vincenzo said, his eyes boring deep into Myra’s, more like he was pleading for her assistance towards Freya.
“Any thing, sir. I can do any thing for you.” Myra pledged to do whatever he wanted her to do.
“I need you to keep an eye on Freya for me. Though she might look healthy but… she isn’t. And just in case she asks you about Olsen, don’t tell her he is dead.” She opened her eyes, wanting an explanation for that. “She doesn’t remember about his death, so for the meantime we shouldn’t have it talked about until she heals.”
Now understanding where he was heading to, she nodded her head. “Now I understand, I’ll do all I can to be there for her and I will never engage in a conversation that has to do with her brother.”
“Thank you so much. I know I can trust you in this.”
“Freya is my best friend, I will risk every thing just to see she is alright.”
“Again…” He made a pause, as if to say he was finding it quite difficult to ultar the next words. “About Kelly…” Myra knew that was the next thing he was going to talk about since she was expecting it from him.
“Just in case she shows up here, can you be a little dramatic towards her?” Myra arched her brows, “I mean, play a little stubborn? I don’t want her getting any closer to Freya.”
“You don’t have to worry about that, sir. I won’t disrespect her for your sake, but I’ll also not let her any where close to Freya. You can trust me on this.”
“Thanks once again.”
“Just doing my job.”
“I’ll be back tonight. Have a nice day ahead.”
“You too, sir. Godspeed.” He smiled at her, and she returned it.
And Myra kept to her promise. She was always there for Freya, she was happy Freya didn’t forget about her. They talked like they used to, as if nothing had happened nor was her brain affected. But even at that, she made sure she doesn’t get their conversation any closer to Olsen.
“I’ve missed you so much, Freya. But that doesn’t matter, you’re here and I’m here for you.”
“Oh, come on, Myra, it’s not like I am dead.”
“Of course not, you aren’t dead.”
“So, don’t make it sound like I am. We should be more concerned about my leg, I can’t stop thinking about how good it was back then. Now I’m f+king sitting my ass on a wheelchair.” She said bitterly.
“Some days are like that, Freya. Not every day is created for happiness. But the good thing is that you’ll heal. It’s not like they cut your leg, it’s just an injury that will take a lot of time to heal.”
“I hate injuries.”
“No one loves injury, Freya, that is why we try to avoid it.”
“I was so mad at him after I saw what happened.”
“What happened?” Myra asked, wanting to know if it was the exact thing she had thought too.
“Him with Kelly.”
“Do you remember what happened that day?” Myra asked, more like she was surprised.
“I remember every thing, Myra. I remember Olsen dying, I remember every thing.” Myra stared shocked at her. She was wondering if truly she was hearing the right thing, or if she was only tempted to speak the forbidden part.
“I… I don’t understand, Freya. Mr Ferdinando said you had an injury in your brain and you seem to be forgetting some things.”
“That’s what the doctors think, that’s what every one thinks, but I’m alright.” She sighed. “I don’t want him to know I’m alright, it was a planned deal I made with the doctors. I was never in a coma, I made them say it. Though I had a bad accident, but then I survived and I’m still surprised how it all happened.”
“You know you got him more worried than he should. I know he’s been cruel to you back then, but on the other hand, he loves you, Freya. I can testify that he does care so much about you. Remember when we sat in the hallway, discussing how Kelly had implicated you?”
She nodded her head.
“I told you Mr Vincenzo wasn’t as bad as we think. When you had that accident, I saw the way he watched the news about you. I saw the pain in his eyes, he wasn’t patient to get to the hospital. He spent two days with you and he never came back home until yesterday.
There is this part of him that needs to be changed, a part that Kelly isn’t seeing. You are the only one who can change that part of him. It’s more like it’s stuck in there, and it needs to be removed.”
“I… I don’t know if I can do it, Myra. Vincenzo made my life miserable. He made me suffer from Innocence. He let Kelly humiliate my life and yet did nothing. Even if he never killed Olsen, he was so bent on killing him.” She cried.
“He never killed him, that’s all that matters. Mr Vincenzo mourned for your brother’s loss more than any one. Despite how hard his father and Kelly tried to get him over with it, he never changed. Some times, we all need to let bygones be bygones and face the future. I know he dealt with you like a prisoner, but Freya, it’s time you forget the past and face the future.”
“You think I should forgive him?”
“I think you should start now to see the good side of him. For your sake, he sacrificed every thing. He risked his love for your sake, isn’t that enough to understand that he deserves our forgiveness. Come on, Freya, people change.”
“But I’m scared.”
“It’s okay to be scared. After all, we all have the right to be scared.”
“I forgive him,” Tears streamed down her cheeks. “But promise me you won’t tell him I remember every thing. Don’t let him know I had this conversation with you.”
“You can trust me in this. After all, friends stand for each other.”
