Leaving To London

Olsen was having a brief meeting with his men in his office. Freya had asked a maid for directions to where his office is. She stood before the door, inhaling heavily before she could face him. Nervousness was her problem at the moment, she imagined Olsen’s eyes on her, anger stained with hatred for what she had done the previous night.

Regardless of it, she has to apologize to him.

She knocked on the door, and some one opened it. On seeing her, he went to inform Olsen that she was at the door. “Let her in.” He said desperately.

The guard went to open the door. “You can come in.” She stood from the door, looking at Olsen who was likewise staring back at her. He was surprised to see her as he wasn’t expecting her at the moment. Nevertheless, he was happy. “We’re done for today. Leave us alone.” He dismissed his men, his eyes not leaving hers.

Daniel was the last to leave the room. He nodded at her before leaving the room for the both siblings. “I wasn’t…”

“I just…”

They paused. “You first.” Freya said.

“I’m so sorry, Freya, I know I haven’t been a good brother to you ever since dad and mom died. And I am so sorry I let Vincenzo have you in the first place. I was heading home that night to take you, but when I got there, you were gone. I’m not trying to justify myself, I should have been there before he showed up…” He looked down in regret. “But I wasn’t. I let him take you.”

“I should be the one apologizing to you. I should have let you explain yourself, but I didn’t. I was so mad and angry. I… I thought you left me. I thought you don’t want me in your life, I should have let you…” She couldn’t hold back the tears, she started crying, covering her face from Olsen watching her.

He went to her, without permission, he pulled her to himself, holding her so tight and he wasn’t ready to let go. “If only I was a good brother, none of these would have happened.”

“You never left me, Olsen, you were always around. You had some one over me.” How did she know that? Daniel must have told her. She looked up to his face, “He told me every thing, he made me understand.”

“I… I…” He was speechless.

“You don’t have to explain, I don’t blame you. I don’t hate you either. I love you, Olsen. I love you so much.” This time, she hugged him. “With all my heart.”

For the first time in years, Olsen felt tears in his eyes. After the day he lost his parents, tears left his eyes. But today, she was opening that weak part of him. “I love you more, Freya.”

They came to a better understanding, and Olsen decided to take a break from any thing but to have the day with her and her alone. Freya felt what it was like to be at home, to have a brother by her side. She doesn’t miss leaving the Ferdinandos, she only misses Myra not staying by her side.

Freya told him every thing that had happened while she was in captivity, how Kelly had hunted her life. She suspects Kelly has a hand in her leaving and Vincenzo has no idea of it.

“Well, it doesn’t matter any more, does it?” Olsen shook his head. “As long as I’ve got you, I’m happy.” They smiled. “But, what if he comes for you when he learns I’m no longer in the cell?”

“That shouldn’t bother you, sweetheart, after all, you aren’t staying here for long.” She raised her eyes in confusion. “I’ve prepared your papers, you’ll be traveling to London tomorrow morning.”

Freya was so happy that she couldn’t hold herself from screaming. She left her seat, to his, jumping on him to hug him. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!” She kissed his cheeks. “I love you, Olsen. Wow!”

“I love you too, sis. So, I’ll give you your new ID, you’ll be answering a different name while in London so no one can be able to track your location.”

“What about you?” She asked, worried.

“Don’t worry about me, I have to finish what I started.”

“Olsen… Let’s just forget about Vincenzo, let’s leave the state together, start a new life and get married to our partners. No one can find us, no one can separate us.”

He held her cold hands. “I won’t be at rest if I let every thing go without taking revenge for what that bastard did to you. Maybe you don’t know yet, no one touches my sister and goes free. I’m ready to do whatever it takes.”

“Even if it involves your life?”

“Even if it involves my life.”

“Olsen… Please, don’t do this.”

“After every thing is settled with, I’ll come over. I promise.”

“Olsen…” He pulled her for a hug.

“I love you. You will keep being every thing that has ever happened to me. Don’t you ever forget that.” He said and kissed her neck. “Go to the wardrobe, I already had your things packed. Get yourself ready, you’re leaving first thing in the morning.”

A part of her was happy she was finally leaving the state to a place where no one will ever find her, the other part of her felt like suffocating with Olsen not leaving with her. She had lost her brother before, and she was gonna lose him again?

“If you aren’t leaving with me, then I ain’t leaving at all.”

“Don’t you dare say that. You’re leaving without me.” He finalized. She cried in his arms, and he didn’t mind her tears staining his shirt. “It’s only for a while, Freya, I’ll come around. I promise.”

Freya spent the rest of the day moody. She was supposed to be happy. Of course, she was happy. But not until he said she was leaving without him.

“You’ll come around, you promise?”

“I promise.”

“I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too. Take good care of yourself for me.”

“I will. And you too. I’ll call you when I get to the airport.”

“I’ll be expecting your calls.” He took a key out from his back pocket. “Here is the key to your room. Remember, you aren’t Freya Bred. As soon as you leave the state, your name will be Diana Simpson.”

She nodded her head and kissed his cheek. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“Bye.” She waved her hand as she made it to the car. “Don’t forget your promise.”

“I won’t.” He said, waving back at her.

The ride to the airport was a fast one. The plane to London was already waiting for its passengers. After submitting her ticket, she headed to the plane. She walked in, taking an empty seat close to the window.

She looked outside the window, a smile played on her face. As much as she was going to miss Olsen, she knew she was finally having the freedom she hoped for. After all, not all prayers are kept unanswered.

It took them a day and a night to get to London, a home of cold. Freya shivered as soon as she stepped out of the plane. She remembered the key Olsen had given her, it had her room number written in it.

As she dug her hand in her pocket to pick the keys, she felt a paper in her pocket. She took it out, staring at it. How did it get in there? She thought.

Olsen must have dropped it, she reasoned. Probably when they were hugging each other for the last time. She opened the small folded paper, it had her address written in it.

“Truly, you really had all these prepared for me.” She said with a smile. “Thank you.”

She boarded a taxi which drove her to the exact address. It was a storey building, she looked at the key. Room 207.

Meanwhile, two days had passed by, Vincenzo felt it was time to get her out of the cell. It was to his greatest surprise when he learned that Freya was nowhere to be found.

How long?

Kelly was happy. But it was unknown to every one that Olsen had her. “Where is she?” He stormed but no one could give an account of her whereabouts. “Ain’t I talking to humans?”

“Why angry, Enzo, you should be happy. After all, isn’t it what you have wanted? You wanted her out of your life. Now that she is gone, why bother about her?”

“Why do I feel like you know some thing I don’t.” He suspected.

“Me? What are you talking about?”

“If I eventually find out that you have a hand in her disappearance, you surely won’t love to see the other side of me.” He threatened.

“I need the girl back before twenty hours, or every single one of you dies.”

He walked into his room, slamming the door. Myra didn’t want to die, she was scared to, so she would do any thing to save her life. She picked up the courage, making her way towards Vincenzo’s room. She knocked on his door, he wasn’t the answering type.

She knocked again, thinking it was Kelly, he let her in. “Come in.”

Myra gently pushed the door open, her head buried to the ground. “Good evening, sir.” She greeted.

Vincenzo wasn’t familiar with the face. He wasn’t familiar with his workers as there were many of them working for him. “What’s your name?” He asked calmly.

“My name is Myra.”

“Hmm. Myra.” He repeated. “So, Myra, is there some thing you wanna tell me?”

“Y-yes, sir. I have some thing to tell you.”

“If you really have some thing to tell me, then you should probably stop staring at the floor and look at me”

Myra summoned the courage to look at him even if it wasn’t there. “Good. Now, I’m listening.”

“I… I was.. I was…” She was breathing heavily. “I… Freya… She… I was…” She stammered, not knowing where to start.

“Myra, if you do wanna talk to me, then you’ve got to calm down and talk to me. I’m not in a haste, I’m listening to you.”

Myra was shocked at how calm Vincenzo talked to her. Was he this calm and every one feared him?

She took a deep breath, exhaling heavily. “I was going to the cell that morning to give Freya her breakfast when I saw some group of men in masks carrying her body out of the house.” On hearing this, Vincenzo’s curiosity grew. “She was unconscious, so she couldn’t scream. I don’t know where they took her, but I suspect wherever they took her to, it’s definitely far away from here.”

“Why didn’t you tell me this a long time ago?”

“You didn’t care about her despite every thing she’s done for you. She doesn’t deserve that place. Even if her brother murdered your cousin, she didn’t deserve that hatred. Freya is a good girl, I’ve been with her several times and I can testify that.” She wasn’t scared talking to him, “And, I understand how much you love the mistress, but, sir, there’s some thing going on here you have no idea of.”

“What is it?”

“The flower vase, it was Freya who broke it, it was the mistress. I know you might not believe me, and I am sorry if I said any thing wrong to you. I don’t mind you having me locked up in that cell, or worse kill me. But I ain’t Freya, I will never hide the truth when it’s ought to be told.”

“She told me she did it.”

“She didn’t do it. She was scared to say the truth because of what the mistress will do to her so she took the blame.” The expression on his face was unspeakable. She went further saying, “Also, concerning her disappearance the first time you all thought she ran away, Freya didn’t run away. If she wanted to, she would have done it a long time ago. I… I’m sorry, sir, but the one behind her disappearance was the mistress.

I overheard her talking with some one over the phone. And concerning Freya’s disappearance now, I can’t tell who exactly is responsible for it, but I am certain Freya doesn’t know about this either. She must be thinking you’re responsible for it.“

She exhaled.

“That is all I have to tell, Master. I am deeply sorry if I went too far.” She apologized.

“You didn’t, you actually told me all I needed to know. Thank you, Myra.”

She smiled. “I’m only doing this for my best friend.”
