A week later, Lucas finally gave himself in. He was taken to court with Shawn’s lawyer there to defend him. He was charged to jail for two years.

Shawn was alone in the garden, staring at the flowers as the thought of Sofia occupied his head. His eyes seemed distant, lost in thought, and his face was etched with a mix of sadness and longing.

Troy was watching him, his brow furrowed with concern. He rolled his head and walked up to Shawn.

“Isn’t too late to call her? It’s already a week, and you can’t seem to forget about her,” Troy said, his voice laced with concern.

Shawn sighed, his shoulders sagging in defeat. His eyes dropped, and he stared at the ground, his expression a picture of despair.

Meanwhile, in school, Mabel was trying to cheer Sofia up from being sad. Mabel’s face was filled with worry, her brow furrowed with concern.

“What do I do to cheer you up? I don’t like it when you’re like this,” Mabel said, her voice soft and gentle.

Sofia sighed sadly, her eyes welling up with tears. Her face was pale, and her eyes seemed sunken, a testament to her sleepless nights.

“Just give him some time, he will come around,” She added, trying to sound optimistic.

Sofia’s expression turned skeptical, her eyes narrowing. “What if he never comes around? It’s been a week, and he doesn’t even want to see me.”

Mabel’s face fell, her eyes filled with empathy. “A week is not a month, he can change his mind and come to you tomorrow.”

Sofia’s expression turned angry, her eyes flashing with irritation. “I don’t care anymore, he can do whatever he wants, I won’t bother anymore.”

Mabel sighed tiredly, her shoulders sagging in defeat. She looked at Sofia, her eyes filled with concern, but Sofia just looked away, her expression unyielding.

Later in the day, Sofia returned from school to see her family in the living room chatting happily. Diana’s face lit up with a warm smile as she saw Sofia.

“Hey, sweetie, you are back,” Diana said.

Sofia’s expression was subdued, her eyes lacking their usual sparkle. “Yes,” she said.

Grandma’s eyes were filled with concern, her brow furrowed. “How was school today?”

Sofia’s response was brief, her voice lacking enthusiasm. “Great.” She came out from the kitchen with a glass of water.

Diana’s eyes were filled with curiosity. “Do you have any classes tomorrow?”

Sofia’s expression turned neutral, her shoulders shrugging. “No, why?”

Diana’s face turned thoughtful. “Okay, your grandma and I will be going to the prison house to visit your father. You want to tag along?”

Her eyes seemed to light up slightly, a hint of interest sparking. “Yes.”

Grandma’s face beamed with a warm smile. “Okay, then, go in and freshen up. I will fix your dinner.”

Sofia’s expression turned down, her eyes clouding. “There is no need for that. I am not hungry.”

She left for her room, and her family could feel the sadness emanating from her. Diana and Grandma exchanged worried glances.

“I just hope Shawn returns back to her,” Grandma said, her voice laced with concern.

Diana nodded, her eyes filled with empathy. “Me too.”

Some moments later, Sofia lay down on her bed, reading, when her cell phone rang. She saw the caller ID and picked it up.

“Hey, Nina,” Sofia said, her voice slightly more cheerful. There was a pause on the other end. “Yes, I am home. Is there a problem?” Sofia asked, her brow furrowing with concern. She sat upright on the bed, her eyes narrowing. “Sure, I love to. See you in a bit.” Sofia hung up and then dialed Mabel’s numbe. “Hey.”

“What’s up?” Mabel asked.

Sofia’s voice was slightly more energetic. “Let’s hang out. Nina called me to meet her somewhere, and I want you to tag along.”

Mabel’s voice was excited. “Okay, I don’t mind. I am bored anyway. So, where are we meeting her?”

“Just get ready. I am on my way to your house, and I will tell you about it.”

 “Okay.”

They hung up, and Sofia left to change into something better, a hint of excitement sparking in her eyes.

She came out dressed simply and her family turned to her direction.

“You are going out?” Diana asked curiously.

“Yes, Mom,” Sofia replied. “I am hanging out with my friends,” She said.

“Ok, be careful,” Grandma said.

“I will. If I don’t come back home before 10 pm, just know I will be spending the night at Mabel’s house,” Sofia said.

“Sure, be safe,” Diana said as they smiled at her and she left.

“She needs to cool off a bit. These past few weeks have been hectic, and she needs a break from it,” Grandma said.

“Yeah,” Diana said, and they smiled.

Sofia arrived in a cab at Mabel’s house and phoned her to come outside. Mabel came out and entered the cab, and they drove off.

“Where exactly are we going?” Mabel asked.

“When we get there, you will know,” She said, avoiding eye contact with Mabel. Mabel knew she was hiding something.

Some minutes later, the cab stopped in front of a bar, and Mabel was surprised. Sofia paid the cab driver, and they got out.

“Why are we here, Sofia?”She asked.

“To have fun, let’s go,” Sofia said, trying to drag Mabel along. Mabel pulled her back.

“This is a bar, Sofia, and you know how dangerous it is to be here…and besides, we are still underage to be seen in a bar. What if someone recognizes us and decides to tell on us?” She asked.

She rolled her eyes. “You complain too much. No one will recognize us here, and besides, we are not underage. I am eighteen, and you are nineteen. You see, we are adults.”

“How do we get in? With our stature, no one will believe we are adults.”She raised an eyebrow.

She smiled mischievously. “I will take care of that.” She pulled out her phone and dialed Nina’s number.

Meanwhile, Shawn’s men were watching them from afar. Shawn had assigned them to follow Sofia around and make sure she was safe and secure.

Meanwhile, Shawn climbed down from the staircase, phone in hand, talking to one of his men who had been assigned to follow Sofia. His brow furrowed, his eyes narrowing in surprise.

“A bar?” he asked, his voice laced with concern. Troy turned to him, his eyes curious, as he had been watching TV. “What’s she doing in a bar?” His face contorted in anger. There was a pause, and he sighed, his jaw clenched. “Now listen to me, keep an eye on her. If anything goes wrong, don’t hesitate to call me,” he said, his voice firm and commanding.

He hung up the phone and sat down on the couch, his eyes flashing with anger.

“Who’s at the bar?” Troy asked, his brow raised in curiosity.

“Sofia!”He replied, his face turned stormy, his eyes thundering.

“She is at the bar… That’s cool.”He said  Shawn stared at him, his eyes incredulous, his face a picture of disgust.

“Cool, you say? You know how dangerous it is at the bar with crazy guys around. She’s still a minor to be seen in a bar,” He said, his voice laced with worry.

Troy’s expression turned smug, his eyes glinting with amusement. “She is not a minor, she is eighteen. She is an adult. Why are you so beat up by it? You wanted space, and now she is having fun. You are angry.”

Shawn’s face turned red, his eyes flashing with irritation. “You are not helping.”

Troy chuckled, his eyes sparkling with amusement.
