Days later, Shawn was on his way home from work, it was pretty late because he was occupied with some work left undone, He was sitting calmly in the backseat of his car, his face relaxed as he gazed out the window. His cellphone rang, breaking the silence, and he smiled as he pulled it out of his suit pocket.

“Hey,” he said, his voice warm and friendly.

Sofia’s voice came from the other end of the phone, sounding worried. “Where are you?” she asked, her tone urgent.

Shawn’s face was amused, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Hmm, do you miss me already?” he teased, his voice playful.

“No time for jokes, do you know what the time is saying?” she asked, her voice stern.

“Sure, I am on my way already, I was so occupied with work,” he said, his voice sincere.

Her voice was soft, her tone gentle. “Ok, stay safe,” she said, before hanging up.

Shawn’s face was smiling, his eyes warm with affection. He was lost in thought for a moment, when suddenly, the car stopped as the traffic lights turned red. Other cars were waiting behind them, their headlights casting a glow over the scene.

Shawn was busy with his phone when someone knocked at the glass door. He looked out of the glass to see a strange man dressed in tattered clothes. The man’s face was gaunt, his eyes sunken, and Shawn’s instincts told him something was off.

He whined down his glass to talk to the man, but before he could say a word, the man pulled out a gun from his back and fired at him twice on the stomach. Shawn’s face was shocked, his eyes wide with pain and surprise.

The man ran off into the thin air, leaving Shawn’s men stunned and caught off guard. Everywhere became rowdy as people started rushing out of their cars due to the sound of the gunshots.

Shawn’s men sprang into action, their faces set in determined lines as they rushed to Shawn’s side.

Meanwhile, Sofia suddenly felt something was wrong, her face worried, her eyes furrowed in concern. She sat down in the living room, waiting for Shawn, her eyes fixed on the door.

Then, Troy came out of the room, surprised to see her in the living room, his eyebrows raised in inquiry. “Aren’t you sleeping yet?” he asked, his voice gentle.

Sofia turned to him, her face anxious, her eyes wide with worry. “No, I am waiting for Shawn to come back,” she said, her voice laced with concern.

“Wait, he is still outside at this time? It’s past 10 pm,” he said, his voice filled with concern.

“Yeah, I called him an hour ago, and he said he is on his way, I wonder why he is taking so long,” she said, her voice filled with anxiety.

“I guess it’s traffic,” he said, trying to comfort her. Sofia’s face was uncertain, her eyes doubting. Troy smiled and shook his head. “I will be in my room,” he said, leaving Sofia alone in the living room.

An hour later, Sofia fell asleep on the couch, exhausted from waiting. Troy came out to see her asleep, a gentle smile on his face. He shook his head, his eyes amused. He moved closer to her and tapped her gently on the shoulder. Sofia woke up, her face disoriented, her eyes blurry.

“Is Shawn back?” she asked, her voice groggy.

Troy’s face was apologetic, his eyes sympathetic. “No, his number is still not connecting,” he said, his voice gentle.

Sofia’s face was panicked, her eyes wide with fear. “What if something happened to him?” she asked, her voice trembling.

Troy’s face was somber, his eyes serious. “I don’t want to think that,” he said, his voice filled with concern.

They both sighed sadly, their faces filled with worry and anxiety.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Shawn was placed on an ICU after the surgery was a success. The doctor reassured his men that he would be fine, and no bone fracture, and the bullet didn’t penetrate deep into his stomach. They thanked the doctor and went inside to see him.

Some moments later, Shawn regained consciousness, and his men helped him move to his side. He took off the oxygen mask, his face pale and weak.

“Where am I?” he asked, his voice groggy.

One of his men’s face was relieved, his eyes smiling. “You are at the hospital, boss, you were shot some hours ago, luckily, the doctor said you will be fine, and the bullet didn’t penetrate deep into your stomach.”

Shawn’s face was confused, his eyes squinting. He managed to sit upright with the help of his men, his face strained with effort. “Call Doctor Matt for me, I need to go home,” he ordered, his voice firm.

One of his men’s face was obedient, his eyes nodding. He left to fetch the doctor.

“Where is my phone?” He asked, his face impatient.

One of the men’s face was helpful, his eyes smiling. “Here,” he said, bringing out the phone from his pocket. The phone screen was a little cracked. Shawn noticed the battery was dead and sighed tiredly.

Then, Doctor Matt entered with the guy, his face smiling. “You are awake,” he said.

Shawn’s face was determined, his eyes firm. “Please, I want to be discharged,” he said.

Doctor Matt’s face was firm, his eyes serious. “No, Shawn, you have to remain here for two days,” he said.

“I can’t, someone is worried sick about my whereabouts right now, I need to go home and ease the tension,” he said.

Doctor Matt’s face was calm, his eyes understanding. “You can’t, your wound is still fresh, going home at this moment will be risky, if you are so eager to see her, let her know where you are right now,” he said.

His face was desperate, his eyes begging. “I really…”

Doctor Matt’s face was firm, his eyes serious. “Not a word, I am your doctor, and you must listen to me, there is a cable next to you, power up your phone and call to inform her what happened,” he said, and walked away.

He sighed tiredly, his face resigned. One of his men’s face was helpful, his eyes smiling. “You can use my phone, boss,” he said, stepping forward and pointing the phone to him.

He took the phone and quickly dialed Sofia’s number, his face anxious, his eyes worried.

Meanwhile, Sofia was pacing around the living room with Troy, her face worried, her eyes furrowed in concern. She was wondering what could have happened to Shawn.

Then, her cell phone rang, and she picked it up quickly without looking at the caller ID. “Hello,” she said, her voice anxious.

Shawn’s voice came from the other end, weakly. “Hey, Sofia, it’s me,” he said.

Her face was shocked, her eyes wide with relief. “Oh my gosh! Shawn, where are you? You got me worried,” she exclaimed, her voice trembling.

Troy turned to her, his face curious, his eyebrows raised in inquiry.

“I am sorry, something came up, and I couldn’t make it home,” Shawn said, his voice apologetic.

“Are you okay? Where are you right now?” she asked, her voice urgent.

Shawn’s face was hidden, but his voice was weak, and Sofia could sense pain in his tone. “I am fine, I will come home tomorrow,” he said, trying to reassure her.

“Is everything okay?” she asked, her voice filled with concern.

“Yes, I will see you tomorrow, tell Troy not to worry about me, okay?” he said.

“Okay, just take care of yourself,” she said, her voice soft.

They hung up, and Sofia turned to Troy, her face concerned. “Where did he say he was?” Troy asked, his face curious.

“He said something came up, and we shouldn’t worry about him, that he will be home tomorrow,” she said. Her eyes doubting.

Troy’s face was relieved, his eyes smiling. “Okay, I will be in my room, good night,” he said, and walked away.

She stood back, her face sensing that something wasn’t right with Shawn. Her eyes were filled with worry, and her mind was racing with possibilities.
