“Grandma!” I ran into her arms.
She laughs and hugs me to herself…. Andy and I are currently at grandma’s, we are here to hear what she have to say about my parents deaths.
“My beautiful granddaughter, how are you doing?”
“I’m fine, what about you? Did you have a good sleep last night?”
“Of course!” She said and kissed my forehead.
Andy cleared his throat to gain our attention, we turned to him.
“I should be heading to work now…. Grandma will give you all the answers to your questions” he said.
I nod, he and grandma exchanged a look… Like they’re communicating silently. I narrowed my eyes, what are they trying to say that they can’t say out loud.
“Alright! Andy, go!” Grandma said.
Andy nod and left. Grandma sat me on a sofa next to her and take my hands in hers.
“Last night, Andy called me and told me about your discussion with him”
I nod.
“Grandma, I know you knew what happened back then…. Please tell me the truth, what really happened to my family?”
She stares at me for a brief moment and sighed softly.
“It was very tragic and traumatizing… It’s so sad that I don’t want you to remember it. But I guess, I have no choice but to tell you the truth right now. Are you ready?”
“Yes! What is the truth?”
She passed me a weak smile.
“Well, your parents and Lucifer’s parents were bests friends. They do almost everything together… Went to the same college, got married on the same day at the same church.
It was all good… Their friendship was so tight. One day, they decided to start a company together. At first it was favourable to both parties but later your parents found out that Lucifer’s parents were having higher profits…. It was no longer fifty-fifty… It was more like seventy-thirty”
Grandma paused to study my expression… But I’m curious, I really want to know what happened next.
“What happened, grandma?”
“Your parents confronted them about it, they denied it and became angry so they plotted against your parents and send their son…. Lucifer to set your parents house on fire, but Lucifer wasn’t careful enough… He didn’t know his parents were inside the house too, by the time he knew it was already too late” she concluded.
Lucifer? So he was heartless even as a kid? If that was what happened… How did we got married?.
“Grandma, have I ever being married?”
Grandma frowned at me, she held my face in her hands and caress my cheeks.
“No! You were just a kid then, how could you possibly get married at such a young age?”
Lucifer is a liar! He wants me to hate my family and come to him…. Why? Does he wants to kill me too?.
“Wait… Grandma, how did I escape the fire and how did you know about all this?”
“You were outside and when you saw the fire you ran to call for help… But unfortunately, you were hit by a truck. I have been investigating this issue for long….. Wait here, I have the evidence with me”
She got up and head towards her room…. Few minutes later, she came back with a tape and a flashdrive in her hands.
She turned on the TV and insert the tape in a recorder… My mouth fell open. A building was on fire and Lucifer stood a bit far from it, he’s smiling as the fire grew bigger and fierce.
Until the building was burned to the ground, Lucifer didn’t leave.
Grandma turned of the TV… She inserts the flashdrive to Andy’s laptop and pressed a few buttons… Then I heard something like an interview.

Interviewer:- Mr Justin, what actually happened?
Mr Justin:- We trusted the wrong people.. we thought it could work out.
Interviewer:- Who are the wrong people?
Mr Justin:- They are our best friends.
Interviewer:- Do you mean……..
Mr Justin:- Mr and Mrs Madden!
I gasped.. it’s really true! Lucifer is behind my parents deaths…. He is so evil.
I feel my breath quickens… I closed my eyes and tried to remember but I got nothing.
I can’t remember anything…. Why?
“I didn’t want to break your heart and see you suffer from pain that’s why I didn’t tell you…. But…. “
I got up as I suddenly feel hot.
“Grandma, I’m going out for a walk”
“You…. “
“I need to think”
“Oh, ok! But don’t spend too much time outside” she said I didn’t reply. I simply turned away from her and head out.
I take out my earbuds and insert them in my ears, then I begin to walk down the street.

# Andy .
The board meeting had just come to an end when my phone ring… It’s grandma. I quickly answered it since I have been waiting to hear results.
“Hello, grandma!”
“It’s done”
“She believed it?”
“Yes.. she must believe it, after all, I’m her grandma… I can’t lie to her right?”
I breath in relief.
“That’s good… At least she’d avoid Lucifer at all cost now”
“Yeah… But the only way to guarantee that is if you two get married”
“Grandma…. “
“I don’t wanna hear it, buy a ring and propose to her today… She won’t reject you”
I sigh, I can’t argue with her on this.
“Ok, I will”.
“Good boy!”
“I gotta go, see you later” I hang up.
Finally we succeeded in making her hate Lucifer…. I’m sorry Cat, that I have to hurt you but this is what I must do.
My father died because of this, my mother is in rehab.. grandma is the only one I have left and she is too involved in this…. I can’t let her go to jail.
I must help her…. Even if it means hurting the one I love…. I’m so sorry, Cat.

Life is so cruel… But humans are even crueler. How can someone kill their best friends because of wealth…. Does being rich really mean that much to them?
Right now I don’t know what to think… My mind is blank, all I feel right now is pain.
Also, I know everyone is telling me to stay away from Lucifer… but between him, grandma and Andy I don’t know who is telling the truth.
I should believe grandma… But my guts is telling me to trust Lucifer.
Grandma have evidence which simply means Lucifer is behind everything….but why does it feel like I don’t believe it.
I sat on a bench at a bus station… Luckily no one’s here, which makes it a good place to think. I closed my eyes.
Suddenly, I felt something cover my nose, I quickly open my eyes but I didn’t get the chance to scream or fight back…. I close my eyes and… Darkness!

# Hours_Later .
I opened my eyes and met a very high and white ceiling, I sat up and noticed I’m in a big king size bed…. I look around, I’m in a strange room.
How did I get here? Where am I?
All I remember was I sitting on a bench in a bus station, then….. I gasped loudly.
I’ve been kidnapped!
“You’re awake!” A maid said as she walks in.
She smiled broadly and rushed towards me… She seems to be the same age as me.
“Master said to help you bath and change your clothes when you wake up” she said.
“Master?!” I frown.
She nods.
“Yes! He said after bathing, you should eat lunch” she replied.
I thought I was kidnapped… Or is this how kidnappers treat their captives these days?
“Who is your master?” I asked her.
“You don’t know him?” I shake my head. “He said you knew each other”
“We knew each other?!”
“Hmm. He’s never bring any woman over here…. You must be special to him”
Huh? I’m special to him? Who could that be?
“What’s your master’s name?”
“Oh, his name is……”
“Valerie!” A bold voice interrupt her.
I turned my head towards the direction of the voice and I stilled…..How could it be him?
