Between 2 Hearts – Episode 90

Alex’s guilt-ridden eyes refused to meet Naomi’s, his face a mask of anguish. Elora’s laughter echoed through the room, a cold, mocking sound that seemed to pierce the

 air. “Alex, look at me and speak to me,” Naomi demanded, her voice laced with desperation and hurt. But Alex remained silent, his gaze fixed on the floor.

“Well, I guess he’s not ready to speak,” Elora said, her smirk growing wider as she stood up from the bed, the blanket still wrapped around her chest. She moved behind Alex, her eyes locked on Naomi with a mixture of triumph and mockery.

“Alex and I just had the most wonderful night last night,” she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. “We finally consummated our relationship.”

 The words cut deep into Naomi’s soul, and tears began to stream down her face. Her gaze remained fixed on Alex, pleading with him to look at her, to deny Elora’s claims. But Alex refused to meet her eyes.

“Alex,” Naomi called out, her voice cracking with emotion. Elora celebrated her victory, her laughter ringing out once more.

 “I won.”

Naomi’s anger boiled over, and she pushed Elora away from Alex. Elora landed on the floor with a thud, groaning in pain. 

“You b3st@rd!” Naomi yelled, her voice raw with hurt and anger. “Alex,” she called out again, but Alex still refused to look at her.

 Just then, the door burst open, and the royal family rushed in, their faces etched with shock. They had heard Elora’s loud yell and had come to investigate.

“What’s going on here?” King Luke demanded, his voice firm and authoritative.

“They did this to me,” Elora said, feigning innocence and playing the victim.

“Elora, what’s going on? Why are you in Alex’s room wrapped in a blanket?” Diva asked, confusedly.

“That’s because Alex and I slept together,” Elora said, hesitating.

The room fell silent, with everyone shocked by her revelation.

    “You guys did what?…..son!” King Luke turned to Alex, expecting an explanation.

“How? Why?”Queen Lala asked confusedly.

Elora launched into a fabricated explanation, her words dripping with fake innocence.

 “I literally didn’t mean for it to happen, last night I got up to get water from the kitchen because I was thirsty, walking along the corridor, I saw Alex looking drunk and I decided to help him to his room, but unfortunately things heated up between us and hung on me first even when I tried to stop him, but he refused and we threw caution to the wind.”

“This can’t be.”The king’s face fell, his disappointment and shock written across his face. 

 “I don’t deserve to be treated like this, it wasn’t my fault.”Elora burst into tears, playing the victim to perfection.

After a tense moment, the king called for calm and asked Elora to go clean up. Diva helped her out of the room, while the king and queen followed closely behind.

The room fell silent, with Alex still traumatized and refusing to speak or look at Naomi. Naomi, her emotions in turmoil, headed to the bathroom to freshen up. She emerged dressed and composed, but her eyes held a deep hurt. Without a word, she turned and left the room, leaving Alex alone with his guilt.

     Mr. Daniels’ household, was filled with joy and laughter as everyone was celebrating Mia’s engagement. The ring sparkled on her finger as she showed it off to her family.

“I’m so happy for you,” Mr. Daniels said, beaming with pride. “This is so beautiful, soon you’ll be getting married.”

“Indeed, this calls for a celebration,” Jimmy added.

“I’ll make arrangements for it,” Evans said, and they all laughed.

“I can’t wait to share this good news with Mom and big sis. They’ll die of happiness.”Mia said.

“Exactly! Big sis will be the happiest,” Philip said, and they all chuckled.

Just then, the door opened, and Naomi walked in, looking pale and upset. Everyone turned to her, concern etched on their faces.

“Naomi,” Mr. Daniels called out, and they all rushed to her side.

 “Sis, are you okay?” Mia asked, but Naomi forced a weak smile.

  “I’ll be in my room.” She walked away, leaving them staring after her in concern.

The family exchanged worried glances. 

“I guess something’s wrong,” Nicholas said.

“She looks sad,” Philip added.

“Do you think something happened to her at her fiancé’s place?” Jimmy asked, and they all speculated about what might be wrong.

“I’ll speak with her,” Mia said, and she walked away to check on her sister.

As Mia reached Naomi’s room, she heard her sister sobbing uncontrollably. Mia’s anxiety spiked, and she started knocking on the door.

 “Sis, please open up, what’s wrong? Sis,” she called out, her voice shaking with emotion.

Naomi’s tears only grew louder, and Mia’s eyes welled up with tears as she continued knocking and calling out to her sister. 

“Sis, please talk to me,” she begged, her voice cracking with worry.

The sound of Naomi’s anguish was heartbreaking, and Mia’s own tears flowed freely as she tried to comfort her sister.

   Back at the palace, Alex’s refusal to leave his room had become a pressing concern, prompting his father to call Nathan and inform him of the situation. Nathan arrived promptly, his footsteps echoing through the hallway as he made his way to Alex’s room. The door creaked open, and Nathan’s eyes landed on Alex, who was seated upright on the bed, his head resting on the edge of the bedframe as he stared blankly at the ceiling.

“Alex,” Nathan called out,  as he rushed to sit beside him on the bed. Alex’s head slowly raised, and their eyes met. Nathan’s expression softened as he took in the guilt and pain  on Alex’s face.

“I made a mistake, Nathan,” Alex said, heavy with regret. “A mistake that I’ll regret for the rest of my life.” His eyes dropped, and a single tear rolled down his cheek.

“Don’t say that, Alex. Can you really tell me what happened?” he asked gently.

 “I don’t know,” he sniffed, his voice cracking. “I hate myself right now.” Nathan’s heart went out to him.

 “You really don’t know how it happened? How could you not know the woman you were with? Did you drink that much?” he asked, trying to piece together the events of the previous night.

 “You know me too well, Nathan. Even if I’m in the highest stage of drunkenness, I can still know what I’m doing. I know I was drugged. Elora finally won, just like she said.” 

The reality of the situation sank in.

“This is a mess, bro! How can this be fixed?” he asked, trying to find a glimmer of hope in the situation.

 “There’s nothing more to do. I…I can’t even look at Naomi’s eyes. I don’t think I can ever face her. I’m completely ruined. I waited all these years just for her. I wanted her to be the first to have me, and now…” His voice trailed off, and he buried his face in his hands, overcome with emotion.

 “Alex,” Nathan whispered,  

“I won’t forgive myself for this,” Alex choked out, “I can never have the gut to look at Naomi, I have hurt her deeply.” The weight of his regret was crushing him, and his eyes streamed with tears.

Nathan held him tighter, trying to offer some comfort. “You can’t keep blaming yourself, this wasn’t your fault,” he said firmly. “Elora drugged you. You were intoxicated. If anyone needs to be blamed, it’s her, not you.”

 “It’s too late,” he said, “There is no point. There are mistakes that can never be amended. The promise I made for myself and towards Naomi has been shattered. She deserves someone better than me. I can’t face her anymore.” 

  Nathan wrapped his arms around him, Alex’s body shook with sobs, and his words tumbled out in a torrent of anguish.

    “You are not alone, we are here, just stop blaming yourself, I know Naomi will be here for you”.

“I hurt her, I hurt her so badly,” Alex wailed, his pain and guilt overwhelming him. 

“I know she will understand,” he said softly. “She will never hate you for this.” He held Alex close, trying to absorb some of his pain.

As they sat there, Diva stood outside the door, her eyes welling up with tears. She felt a pang in her heart as she listened to Alex’s anguished cries. She felt sorry for him, and her eyes streamed with tears as she quietly turned and walked away, leaving the two friends to their moment of sorrow.
