I got to the company and climbed down from the taxi.
“Thank you.” I said after paying him off.
I sighed standing in front of the huge building of the company. It’s been a while I stood here like this.
I held my bag tightly and walked into the company. I was expecting lots of murmurings but I don’t actually care now.
No I don’t.
I got into the building and they began to smile as they saw me.
“Miss Sandra? Wow it’s so great to see you after a long time.” They said and I nodded smiling.
“Thanks.” I replied walking away and of course, murmurings started.
“Miss Sandra. Good morning, welcome back and I am so sorry about your loss.” My secretary said and I nodded.
“Thanks you Abigail. Prepare my office, I need to see the MD.” I said and she nodded collecting my bag from me.
I walked to the elevator and opened the door. I clicked on floor 9, where the MD office is.
I stood in the elevator alone thinking of how to face the MD after many months of staying at home.
The elevator soon hit floor 9, and it opened up, and to my surprise and amusement, I met my Diego. The hero my father wants me to marry. He was discussing with the MD, but when he saw me he paused staring at me.
“Sandra.” The MD, Mr Collins called smiling widely.
“Mr Collins.” I said giving him a handshake trying to fake out a smile. I seeing Diego actually disfigured my system already.
“I am happy you are finally back and I am so sorry for your loss.” He said and I nodded smiling.
“It’s all in the past now.” I replied and he nodded looking at Diego.
“Sandra, this Diego the next MD, and this is Sandra, the assistant MD. She went on leave because of some issues.
Trust me, she is very good. You will be perfect working together.” He said and Diego stretched his hand forth.
“Nice meeting you Miss Diana.” He said and I received it. But was still thinking about Mr Collins statement.
“Is the new MD?” I asked and he nodded sighing.
“Come, let’s go the office. You will understand better. Mr Diego, I would walk you out.” He said but he shook his head.
“I won’t be going soon. Lets go to my office together.” He said looking at me while i looked away.
We walked to the office and all that kept coming to my mind was that, in no time I would start working with the one I don’t even want to see close to me.
Now he has seen me, he would surely tell Dad. I need to make he doesn’t know where I stay. Thank Heavens I don’t live close by.
“Okay so this is the reason why I said he is the new MD.” He said gesturing us to sit.
“I am traveling out of the state for a very sensitive and important job. Its from the Chairman. So he had to look for someone capable of handling this job. So he chose Mr Diego.” He said and I sighed.
“When will you be back?” I asked nervously.
“I won’t be working here anymore. I have been made the MD in the other branch in Paris. So I won’t be coming back. Am sorry you are getting to know very late.” He said and I smiled faintly.
“It’s okay. I understand.” I said nodding.
“Don’t worry Miss Diana, we would be very good partners.” Diego said and I felt like punching him on the face.
“No doubt about that.” I replied trying not to sound rude to Mr Collins.
I know you must be thinking why they didn’t make me the MD.
Actually in this company, Ladies don’t do the MD because of some reasons. So I remain the Assistant to this….. Gosh.
“I will leave you two new partners to talk.” Mr Collins said smiling as he headed for the door.
“Long time no see Diana.” He said walking behind me.
“I thought you don’t have anything to do with Architecture. What are you doing here?” I asked and he laughed.
“One can change his passion. I actually like Architecture.” He said and I stood up.
“Don’t bullshit me. I know you came here for me.” I said and he sighed.
“You may have gotten that right.” He said sitting on the chair in front of me.
I stared at him in anger and he stared back grinning widely and stupidly.
“Why did you leave home? Your parents are worried.” He said and I scoffed.
“I left home because of you, and then I come to work to meet you?” I said rolling my eyes.
“You ate talking like you hate me, and I know you don’t.” He said and I smriked.
“You can’t be so sure.” I said and he nodded shrugging his shoulders.
“You need to go back home. They needyyou at home.” He said and I giggled.
“You are in no place to tell me what to do okay?” I said.
“Am in no place yet. But will be soon.” He said making me angry.
“Don’t even think it. It’s never going to happen.” I said within gritted teeth.
“You really don’t like the truth do you. I am the only one worth you around here. Even Christan was no match to me.” He said and that was it.
“I am out of here.” I said in anger carrying my bag and heading for the door.
