{CADEN’S HOUSE~9AM}
Emily turned on the bed sluggishly, she used her hand to search for the phone and she found it close to her pillow, when she turned it on and forced her eyes open she quickly sat upright on the bed when she saw the time.
“9AM Already?!! Gosh….. I’m late” she groaned and quickly stood up from the bed.
She was going to bolt to the bathroom when she heard a knock on her door, she walked towards the door and swung it open to meet Caden already dressed for work.
She wasn’t expecting him to be home by this time, doesn’t he normally leave by 8AM?
Caden’s eyes roamed Emily’s body, her messy hair and plain face, she was still wearing her pajamas.
“We are having dinner with my parents this evening, be ready before 7PM” Caden informed as his eyes went back to her face.
“Ohh alright” Emily nodded and Caden left.
Emily went to the bathroom to take her bath.

{KINGSTON ENTERPRISES}
George walked towards the elevator with Anna trailing behind him. “You didn’t have to follow me here Anna, you already made me late, let’s just hope Cade isn’t in a bad mood today” George said.
“I wanted you to rest, you looked tired when you came back last night and I would be leaving tomorrow, I need to spend all the time I have with you” Anna hugged his arm.
“Alright” George said in defeat and Anna smiled.
The elevator doors opened and they walked towards George’s office, directly beside Caden’s office.
“Wait in my office, I want to go see Caden” George said and Anna went into his office while George walked into Caden’s office.
“You always tell me shît about coming late” Caden started immediately he saw George. “It’s 10AM,” Caden informed.
“I know you’ll never let me hear the end of this, Anna is finally less busy, though she has a shoot in Los Angeles tomorrow” George said.
“I don’t care about your girlfriend’s schedule” Caden frowned.
“You asked the last time and I am trying to explain why I came late you à+shole” George scoffed at him.
“Emily also seems to think I am an àsshole, so nothing new” Caden replied. “Are there issues? has my father tried something because I know for a fact he would try to sabotage the oil refinery construction” Caden added.
“Nahhh… He hasn’t done anything yet, which is cause for alarm, I would tighten the security just in case” George replied.
“Good choice,” Caden replied.

{6PM}
Emily hurriedly came down from her car and bolted into the house, she got dressed as fast as she could to get ready for the dinner with Caden’s parents.
Madison has been such a pain, she kept asking her unnecessary questions and Emily had to ignore her but she feared that Madison’s mouth would leak, so she couldn’t ignore her for long.
All of this is clearly Caden’s fault, it turns out the people around her have leaking mouths.
She was glad he didn’t keep to his words of announcing their marriage, she is already having a handful with Madison.
How would she survive when her other colleagues find out?
Emily wore a white short dress that stopped above her knees and a pair of matching white heels.
Her phone rang and she frowned when she saw her father calling. She is still very mad at him and her mom for making her marry Caden and she made it very clear to them on her wedding day.
They haven’t reached out to her since then but now her father is calling?
She wondered what he wanted but on second thought, she didn’t care so she ignored the call and finished dressing up.
“Emily” she heard Caden’s voice and checked the time it was already almost seven.
“How did time move so fast?” She asked herself in surprise.
She picked up her purse and walked downstairs to meet Caden already waiting for her in the same suit he was wearing this morning.
‘So he doesn’t need to take a bath and change clothes’ she said in her head.
Caden stared at Emily for far too long, she looked beautiful, the white dress complimented her pale skin.
Heat rushed through his body.
“Is something wrong with my dress?” Emily asked with a frown.
“You overdressed, it’s just dinner with my parents” Caden replied, trying to hide the desires that danced in his eyes.
“It’s still dinner and besides, I never got to talk to your parents at all, it’s like meeting them for the first time, as much as I hate their son, I still want to make a good impression” Emily said and walked past Caden.
He couldn’t even compliment her dress, she spent almost an hour getting ready and he couldn’t even say anything nice.
The car was silent as Emily was on her phone while Caden drove, she wondered why he didn’t have someone drive them but chose to do it himself but she doesn’t care.
The car stopped and Emily came down from it, so did Caden.
The Kingston mansion was very huge and Emily couldn’t help but be amazed by how beautiful and big it is.
They went inside and were welcomed by Beatrice, she looked very happy to see them.
“You look very beautiful my child” Beatrice smiled at Emily.
“Thank you, you look beautiful yourself, who would have thought you have an already grown son” Emily flattered.
“It’s like I am invincible” Caden said and Beatrice chuckled.
“I’m very happy to see you, my son” she said to her Caden. “Let’s have dinner” she ushered them to the dining table and they all sat down.
Anthony was nowhere to be found, Caden didn’t care though, he didn’t want his father here at all.
“Anthony has business to attend to, he will join us soon” Beatrice said and Caden frowned.
What business? There’s nothing for him to do at the company, except he is plotting something.
“It’s alright” Emily said and they started eating.
“I was hoping to throw a very big wedding for both of you but everything was in a rush, I really didn’t get to do anything” Beatrice expressed her concerns. “People don’t even know you both are married” she added with a sigh.
‘I preferred it that way’ Emily said within her but she dared not voice it out.
Caden’s mom was very nice, she kept asking Emily if she was comfortable and she didn’t fail to keep the dinner lively especially as Anthony wasn’t around.
Caden seems to care about his mother very much, it’s like he became a totally different person than what Emily knew.
“I would get more salad,” Beatrice said when she noticed the salad was finished.
“I would do it mom, don’t worry” Caden interjected and stood up.
“I see you both don’t get along very well” Beatrice said.
“Well.. we only got married few weeks ago” Emily chuckled awkwardly.
“That is true, but I do wish you both would fall in love, Caden is a very stubborn child and he may be difficult but he is a sweetheart” Beatrice praised.
“He is only a sweetheart to you Mrs Kingston, forgive me but your son is an àsshole” Emily replied and Beatrice laughed.
“You are the only lady I know who doesn’t like my Caden,” she said with a small smile.
“The other ladies are deceived by his handsome face” Emily shrugged and Beatrice laughed again.
“So you think he is handsome? that’s a start” Beatrice replied but before Emily could speak Caden came with the salad.
The rest of the dinner was nice and light, Anthony truly didn’t show up for the dinner and Beatrice apologized on his behalf but Emily assured her it was no problem and they left.

{TWO WEEKS LATER~HALTER’S MEDIA~8AM}
Emily walked into the company and made her way to her desk but she kept receiving stares and side comments.
She wondered what was going on.
Did she dress weirdly today or is there just something on her face?
She ignored them though and went to her desk, immediately she sat down Madison ran to her.
“Emily… I swear I didn’t do it” Madison immediately said.
“What are you talking about?” Emily asked with a frown.
“Haven’t you seen the daily news?” Madison asked and Emily shook her head and Madison brought out her phone, she gave it to Emily.
Emily’s eyes widened as she read the news, pictures of her wedding with Caden filled the Internet.
“What?” She screamed in shock.
“I swear I didn’t do it, Halter’s media didn’t even publish this, it was published by Venice media last night” Madison quickly defended herself.
“How did this get to them?” Emily asked.
“No idea but everyone now knows you’re married to Caden, that’s the least of your problems though, Liam wants you in his office” Madison informed.
“Why?” Emily asked.
“Well… You let our rival company release such huge news before us even though you could have prevented it. Don’t tell him I knew about it, unlike you, I can’t afford to lose my job” Madison pleaded and Emily sighed in frustration and stood up. “Please!!” Madison said again.
“I won’t tell him, after all I was the one who told you to shut up about it” Emily replied.
“Thank you Ems, I would pray for you to not to get fired” Madison said.
“I would definitely need that prayer” Emily responded and walked to Liam’s office.

Madison waited eagerly for Emily to come out, she heard shouting and yelling from Liam’s office and she knew their boss was more than angry.
Worst case scenario, Emily gets fired.
After what seemed like forever, Emily walked out of Liam’s office and Madison ran to her.
“So? Did you manage to keep your job?” Madison asked, curiosity flared in her eyes.
“Yes but on a condition” Emily sighed and Madison raised an eyebrow.
“Speak!” Madison yelled impatiently.
“We need to find news much bigger than my marriage with Caden and we both know the only person that can rival this kind of gossip,” Emily said.
“Nathan Pierce” Madison replied in realization.
“Yeah… We have to find something juicy on him or I can say goodbye to my job, we have one month” Emily informed.
“We? It’s your job on the line Ems, there’s no WE” Madison responded.
“You’re going to help me or I would go back in there and tell Liam you found out two weeks ago” Emily threatened and Madison gasped.
“You made me promise not to tell anyone!” Madison defended.
“Doesn’t change the fact that you knew, help me, you’re a gossip queen, I’m pretty sure we can get something on Nathan if we put in the efforts” Emily said.
“You’re a crazy girl! Alright, I would do this for you because I am a nice person and if you get fired, who would drive me back home, I can’t let you get fired yet, time is against us, we are very desperate” Madison replied and Emily nodded.

{PIERCE ENTERPRISES~PARKING LOT~7PM}
“So we are stalking Nathan Pierce,” Emily said, turning to Madison.
They have been in the parking lot for hours waiting for Nathan to come out of his office, Madison brought up the idea, she said they would discover something if they track his daily movements.
“We don’t have a choice Ems. It’s 7PM for fuçk sake, doesn’t he go home or what?” Madison frowned.
“It’s just 7PM, he is a CEO, Caden comes back at 8PM or even 9PM something” Emily shrugged.
“Ohh so you know your husband’s schedule, I thought you said you both can’t stand each other” Madison teased.
“We can’t, but that doesn’t mean am blind or oblivious,” Emily responded.
“I thought-”
“Sshh, Nathan is walking to his car” Emily cut Madison off and they focused their gaze on Nathan.
Emily’s car was parked a few meters away from Nathan’s car and they had clear visuals on him.
“He is leaving, drive” Madison pressured and Emily drove after Nathan, following at a safe distance.
“I just hope he goes to a club or his secret girlfriend’s house,” Madison said.
Nathan is known as a reserved and extremely hardworking billionaire, unlike Caden and Emily who came from riches, Nathan climbed his way up the social ladder till he became one of the richest billionaires in New York city.
Maybe that’s why he is so closed up, he has never been caught in a club or any questionable situations and that’s why every media house in New York wants to get a juicy story out of him.
“Really? He went home???” Madison frowned as Nathan’s car entered the Vine wood estate.
“No luck today, maybe we would have better luck next time” Emily sighed and drove Madison to her house.
When Emily finally got home it was almost 9PM, Madison had pressured her to come into her apartment to see her comic book collection.
Though Emily wasn’t interested in comics, Madison can be very persuasive.
“I thought you’ll never come back” Emily heard Caden’s voice immediately she entered the house, he was standing in the living room with a visible frown on his face.
“Since when do you care if I come back or not?” Emily rolled her eyes.
Her and Caden have been ignoring each other for the past two weeks, she thought she was ignoring him at first but it turns out he was also putting in an effort.
“Since you started coming back by 9PM” Caden frowned. “I didn’t release the news on our wedding so you could start cheating on me” Caden added and Emily glared at him.
“It was you? You sent the wedding photos to the Venice media??” Emily asked.
“Yes… I did tell you, I would make sure it is made public” Caden shrugged.
“But that was about two weeks ago, I thought you’d forgotten about it” Emily complained.
“Forgotten? No I didn’t, I just wanted to surprise you when you least expected” Caden smirked and Emily’s glare turned into full blown fury.
“Seriously!!! Because of what you did my job is hanging by a thread and why did you send it to Venice Media?” Emily yelled.
“Because I felt like it, this is not an excuse for coming back late Emily” Caden replied.
“I’m not making an excuse, I was working late because of you, àsshole” Emily rolled her eyes and walked past him to her room.
“Why is she so mad? I am the one that’s supposed to be angry” Caden muttered in disbelief.

{NEXT DAY~GEORGE’S HOUSE}
George was already ready for work when his phone rang and he frowned before picking it up.
“What is it?” He asked.
“Let’s have a talk son,” his father said.
“I have no intention of speaking to you for whatsoever reason Calvin” George replied sternly.
Calvin coughed three times before steadying himself. “It’s urgent, don’t be stubborn” Calvin said weakly and George’s grip on his phone tightened. “I would be waiting for you” Calvin added and hung up.
George took deep breaths and walked towards his car, he called Caden as he drove.
“Isn’t it too early for a call George?” Caden’s tired voice came through the phone.
“Shouldn’t you be at the office? it’s almost 9AM.” George replied.
“Get to the point, this isn’t the first time I would be going late to work” Caden said and George could feel him rolling his eyes.
“I would be coming late today, I need to see someone,” George said.
“Is this someone named Anna Lark?” Caden asked.
“I’m not going to meet Anna, it’s my dad,” George replied and Caden went silent.
“Maybe I should give you the day off,” he finally said.
“No need, I would be at the office at noon, don’t forget to go to the construction site today” George responded
“I won’t forget, good luck with Calvin” Caden said and hung up.
George sighed, he wondered what his father wanted all of a sudden, the man has left him for years now, so why contact him now.
George stopped at a traffic light as his hands tapped the wheel impatiently, waiting for the light to turn green.
He looked outside the window and he saw Anna standing in front of a clothing store, she was wearing a hat and sunglasses, though her face wasn’t visible he would clearly recognize his girlfriend anywhere.
Isn’t she supposed to be in Los Angeles?
The light turned green and George frowned as he drove away, why is she here in New York but told him she was in Los Angeles.
The frown on his face deepened greatly.
