{TWO WEEKS LATER~CADEN’S HOUSE~7PM}
Lia parked her car roughly in front of the building and came down from it.
She walked into the house like she owned it with a slight frown on her face.
Caden didn’t let her stay here with him, he said she had no business in his house till they were married and he kept putting off the marriage.
What annoyed Lia the most was the fact that her mother didn’t do anything about it but either way she would be getting married to Caden soon and he wouldn’t give her reasons not to let her live with him.
“Ma’am, you’re not allowed to walk in whenever you wish” Luis said blocking Lia.
“Who are you to tell me what to do?” Lia snapped. “I am caden’s fiance and you’re just a servant”
Luis’ eyes darkened, he didn’t like Lia even for a second, she didn’t have any respect for him even though he is old enough to be her father. “Mr. Kingston gave the order,” Luis said calmly.
“Caden!” Lia screamed.
She knew Caden was here since she was sure he wasn’t at the company.
He was supposed to go with her to taste the cake for their wedding but he neither answered her calls or responded to her messages so she came to see him.
“Miss, you’re causing a ruckus, keep your voice down” Luis interjected.
“Don’t tell me what to do!” Lia frowned. “Caden!” She yelled again and Luis had to cover his ears.
“Why are you yelling like that?” Caden’s voice came from the top of the stairs.
Lia’s face lightened when she saw him and she tried to walk up to him but Luis held her back and she shot him a glare.
“Tell your servant to get out of my way” Lia said to Caden who was already walking down the stairs.
“I would take it from here” Caden said to Luis who sighed and nodded.
He gave Lia a disgusted glare before walking away.
“I would make sure to replace him when I move in here” Lia scoffed.
“You would do no such thing” Caden frowned and Lia turned her attention to him.
“Why didn’t you come, I had to go taste our cake all by myself, it’s our wedding not my wedding” Lia said launching herself towards him but he moved backwards to keep the distance between them and Lia pouted.
“It’s just cake tasting, you can do that yourself” Caden replied.
“No, we have to do it together, anyway, I have been working real hard for our wedding, everything should be ready in about a month’s time,” Lia smiled.
Caden wondered how she can be so completely oblivious to the fact that he doesn’t want to marry her or was she really just stupid.
“That is no reason to come to my house and threaten to fire Luis” Caden said and Lia pressed her lips together.
“We would be married soon, I would be living here too, don’t you want me to feel comfortable in your house?” Lia pouted.
Caden sighed and rubbed his temples, he is so damn glad this would be the last time he had to deal with Lia.
“If you have nothing else to say please leave” Caden said and turned away from her.
Lia wanted to go after him but she held herself back, the last time she tried to force herself on him he threw to the floor like she weighed nothing and he told her never to try it again.
Lia bit her lips and walked out of the house.

{FINN’S HOUSEHOLD}
George watched as Ava helped his father into his bed slowly. “You just need a little rest” Ava said to Calvin who nodded before closing his eyes.
Ava turned to George and they walked out of the room. “I’m sorry for calling you this late, he suddenly started breathing rapidly” George apologized.
“It’s no problem, he is old, even though he is no more ill he would have cases like that often” Ava informed and George nodded.
“Thank you, you’ve been of great help to my father and me” George said sincerely and Ava smiled.
“I’m just doing my Job” she replied.
“I would escort you out” George said and led Ava out of the house.
“You really don’t find me familiar” she suddenly said and George raised an eyebrow.
Ava barely saw George since his father was discharged from the hospital.
She had been really patient with him after what happened with Anna but now she was getting really desperate.
How can he not remember her, she was beginning to think he was pretending.
“What do you mean?” George asked.
“You seriously don’t remember me? We met in Australia when I was in med school, I didn’t know why you came to the university but I gave Anna my sweater because I poured juice on her” Ava reminded and George looked like he was deep in thoughts. “Seriously?” Ava exclaimed.
“I really don’t remember” George chuckled awkwardly.
Ava sighed. “I guess I wasn’t important enough”
“Really sorry” George apologized.
“Nothing to be sorry about even though you have been in my head since that day and you barely remember me” Ava chuckled sadly and George looked really embarrassed.
“S.. sorry” he didn’t even know why he said that but he felt the need too.
“Now you have to make it up to me, my shift ends by 2 tomorrow, I know a really cool amusement park” Ava informed and George blinked.
Is asking him out on a date?
He never actually thought of the possibility that he would be asked out by a girl.
This made him even more embarrassed.
“Erhmm” he cleared his throat.
“You’re not about to reject me are you?” Ava asked.
“No.. of course not” George said and Ava smiled.
“I would text you the details, good night” Ava replied and walked away from him.
George watched her go with a small smile, he really didn’t want to give love another chance after Anna but Ava didn’t present a choice.
His phone rang and it was Caden calling, he wondered why Caden would be calling him by this time.
“What’s up?” George said.
“Emily is going to hate me even more for what I am about to do” Caden said and George sighed.
And he thought his love life was fuçked up.

{NEXT DAY~EMILY’S APARTMENT~7:30AM}
Emily was already dressed for work, she arranged her hair properly while looking at her bedroom mirror.
She smiled at her reflection and walked towards the bed to pick up her bag and phone.
Her phone vibrated on her hand and she saw a call from her mom.
Why is her mother calling her so early in this morning.
“Emily, you have to come home immediately” Layla cried over the phone and Emily blinked.
“What happened, why are you crying?” Emily asked, confused.
“Haven’t you seen the news, come back please, we need you” Layla said in between sobs and Emily frowned.
“Mom, calm down, I would take the next flight to New York” Emily assured and just when she hang up from her mother’s call Madison began calling.
“Madison, what’s going on?” Emily asked.
“Terrible things, really… Terrible things, you have to come back to New York immediately!” Madison replied.
“You haven’t told me what exactly is happening” Emily yelled.
“This can’t be discussed over the phone Ems, come back to New York then we would talk, call me when your plane lands and I would come pick you up” Madison said and hung up.
Emily wondered what was going on? She went to the tabloids as she walked out of her apartment building in a hurry.
_
{BEACH HOUSE~5PM}
Layla has been crying nonstop since they arrived at the beach house.
Emily has been trying to hold her together while still trying her best to hold herself together.
She really couldn’t believe it, the tabloids were brutal, her heart was in her mouth on her way here when she saw the tabloids.
Her father is in prison.
Harper Stone is in prison for illegal drugs and armo trafficking across New York.
Emily couldn’t believe it, of course all the claims were false, her father would never but that’s not what the Media thinks.
That’s not what citizens think, after all they believe all rich people have their dirty secrets.
“Your father would never, they are all lies” Layla cried and Emily hugged her tightly.
Their house was raided by paparazzi, Madison begged Nathan to lend her some bodyguards to get Layla out of the house and they were brought to this beach house that is owned by her mom.
Only Madison and Nathan know they’re here, they can’t even go see her father, she hasn’t seen him since she came back from Los Angeles only on the news when they took him to prison.
“I know” Emily said softly to her mother.
Emily heard a knock on the door and she frowned.
She wondered if Madison came back but she left just few minutes ago.
Did she forget something?
Emily stood up from the couch leaving her mom and walked towards the door.
She opened it and she was surprised to see Caden.
This would be the first time she is seeing him since that day at the hotel where he shattered her.
Emily forgot how to breath, his face didn’t change throughout the past year, the only difference is his eyes.
They looked darker than she remembered.
But the most important thing was how did he find her?
“Aren’t you going to let me in?” Caden asked.
“Who is it?” Layla asked.
Caden pushed past Emily and walked into the house. “Hi Mrs stone” Caden smiled and Layla wiped the tears from her face.
She is as shocked as her daughter to see Caden here.
“Why are you here?” Emily found her voice. “How did you find this place?” She asked.
“It’s quite easy to find this place considering it’s the only property that doesn’t belong to your father but your mother” Caden replied and Emily swallowed.
She didn’t expect their next meeting to be like this.
“Why are you here?” Emily asked again.
“You both must believe Harper is innocent but he isn’t” Caden started, his face turning cold.
“What are you talking about?” Emily asked.
“Everything about him is true, he is very greedy” Caden said and Emily frowned.
“You have no right to declare that about my father,” Emily gritted.
“It’s normal to be in denial” Caden said “your husband has a daughter with someone else” Caden turned to Layla who sucked in a breath.
“What?” Emily exclaimed standing in front of Caden. “You can’t just make useless accusations!”
“It’s not useless, I’m sure you know his marriage with your mother wasn’t out of love, he had a child with another woman, my step mother, Beatrice and that child is Lia” Caden said and Emily felt her heart drop to her stomach.
Layla fell back on the couch in shock as she palmed her mouth.
“It’s not true, there’s no proof” Emily said, refusing to believe.
“I wanted to tell you before it is released to the tabloids, it should have reach the tabloids by now, along with proof” Caden replied and Emily quickly took her phone to check.
True to Caden’s words, DNA reports were released, Lia was found to be Harper’s daughter and he planned with Beatrice to take over the Kingston enterprises.
Proof that Beatrice orchestrated Anthony’s heart attack was also released leading to the immediate arrest of Beatrice.
She joined Harper in prison.
Lia wasn’t taken because she didn’t do anything that would require an arrest.
Emily fell to the ground in mortification.
Her father?
She turned to her mom who was already sobbing, judging by her mother’s reaction, she didn’t know about any of this.
“I knew he didn’t love me but this is just too much” Layla cried.
Emily felt her chest tightened and Caden bent down to meet her on the floor.
“That isn’t the only terrible thing he did but I would spare you the details for now” Caden said calmly and Emily looked at him with pained eyes.
“The last time we met, you hurt me so much I couldn’t breathe and even after a year, it’s still the same thing” Emily said sobbing.
Her chest burned.
Her ears rang.
Her world tilted.
“Emily…” Caden’s voice was quieter. “That’s not why I’m here.”
Caden’s eyes were darker but there was something else in them too. Restraint. Guilt. Pain he refused to show fully.
“If I hadn’t come,” he said slowly, “you would’ve found out from the tabloids”
“So you decided to be the one to break me instead?” Her voice cracked. “How generous of you.” Emily said sadly.
“That was not my intention” Caden said softly. “Even last time, I was angry, I admit but I didn’t mean to hurt you like that” he added.
Emily met his eyes. “You did, you hurt me, seeing you with Lia hurt me like hell” she sobbed.
“I know” he replied.
Emily stood up and gave her mother a glance. “I want to see him” Emily said turning back to Caden.
“Why?” Caden asked.
“I want him to tell me his side” Emily answered and Caden sighed.
“Sure” he replied.
This wasn’t how he viewed their reunion but he was just glad to see her even though she lost weight at least he got to see her after a year and she still makes his heart beat like always.

{NEW YORK’S PRISON}
Lia sat in the waiting room for her mother, Beatrice was dressed in prison uniform as she was led into the small room.
Lia ran to her and hugged her tightly immediately she saw her mother.
“Mom!” She sobbed.
She was with her mother when the police came into the house and took her, Lia was really scared while Beatrice was shocked.
“You have to get me out of here!” Beatrice said. “I won’t be able to survive in here”
“I’m working on it, I would hire a good lawyer” Lia assured.
“Lawyer? That won’t do anything! Caden would never let me win the case in court!” Beatrice said.
“Then what should I do?” Lia asked.
“I want you to kill Caden, I should have done exactly that after I rendered Anthony immobile but I didn’t because of you now look what it caused me” Beatrice scoffed.
“I… I can’t!” Lia said.
“What do you mean, Caden would never love you and you know that so do as I say, don’t you want me to get out of here? it’s either me or Caden Lia” Beatrice asked.
“But how does killing Caden help? It won’t change the fact that you’re a suspect for Anthony’s murder” Lia said.
“I’m only a suspect, if Caden dies then your good lawyer would be able to get me out” Beatrice replied and Lia bit her lips.
“You have to do it” Beatrice pressured and Lia swallowed.
She didn’t want to hurt Caden, she loved him too much but she also loved her mother.
“Time’s up” the police officer entered the room and took Beatrice away.
“Don’t forget!” Beatrice yelled.

{SAME PRISON}
Emily sat at the waiting booth for her father, there was a glass frame in the middle of the table and a telephone by the side.
She saw him being walked into the booth by a police officer, he sat down and took the telephone, Emily did the same.
“Hi,” she said.
“Where is your mother?” Harper asked.
“She didn’t want to see you and I believe you know why” Emily responded.
“Of course,” Harper replied. “I swear I didn’t do anything they are accusing me off, everything is a lie, I would never” Harper said, his eyes pleading.
“There’s proof dad, it’s everywhere, did you know Lia is your daughter?” Emily asked, trying to keep herself together.
“No… I didn’t” Harper replied softly.
“You’re lying aren’t you?” Emily replied with a null expression. “Don’t lie to me, just tell the truth,” Emily demanded.
Harper sighed, his pleading eyes change into something darker and mischievous. “So what if I did, she doesn’t bare my name” Harper replied and Emily sucked in a breath.
The man in front of her isn’t her father.
“You killed James parents just to get him to follow your commands?” Emily asked.
“I see Caden filled you in with all the perks” Harper replied. “This is partially your mother’s fault, she spends too much so I had to improvise-“
“By trafficking illegally?” Emily cut him off.
“Yes.. I never wanted you to get married to Caden but Beatrice suggested it, saying it would be the perfect cover up to why my company was growing, everyone would think the Kingston’s are helping me grow when in fact Anthony would never give me even a penny” Harper said and Emily bit her lips.
Her marriage to Caden was just another means for him to cover up his dirty deeds
“Beatrice wanted Anthony’s money and you were helping her, your money was enough for her” Emily chuckled sadly.
“All this is her fault, I am in here because of her, if she had just listened to me, Caden wouldn’t have caught on so fast” Harper scoffed.
“You’ll end up behind bars either way, you’re not even sorry for what you did and I am disgusted by your presence, all these because of money? Seriously?” Emily said. “And I thought Mom was the one obsessed with money”
“I am still your father and you have to get me out of here” Harper said.
“How delusional” Emily scoffed, she dropped the phone and stood up while Harper called for her.
She didn’t bother turning back.
Emily walked out of the prison and met Caden waiting for her.
When she saw him her instincts screamed at her to run to him and that’s what she did, she ran towards him and hugged him tightly.
Caden was shocked but he hugged her back regardless.
Lia was in her car a few meters away from them, she watched how Caden hugged a crying Emily and her eyes showed red.
She was already crying since she just came out from visiting her mother and now Emily and Caden just had to add to her pain.
Her mother was right, Caden would never love her.
If he wouldn’t love her then he won’t love anyone else.
Lia roared the engine to life and sped towards them.
Caden noticed a car speeding towards them and he quickly pushed Emily away from himself.
Emily stumbled as she fell backwards away from Caden.
Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the speeding car already too close to Caden.
“Caden!” She yelled at the top of her lungs.
