{CADEN’S HOUSE~8AM}

Emily walked out of the bathroom with her white towel tied loosely around her chest, another towel was on her head which she used to dry her wet hair.

Caden was on the bed typing on his laptop, his gaze turned to her and his eyes ran through her body.

Caden’s fingers paused on the keyboard, his eyes darkening with a mixture of desire and admiration. “Morning,” he murmured.

Emily felt heat rush to her cheeks. “Morning,” she replied softly, avoiding his intense gaze.

Caden closed his laptop and set it aside. “I have something for you,” he said as he reached for a small black box on the nightstand and held it out to her.

Emily blinked. “F.. For me?” she stuttered.

He nodded, a small and almost shy smile tugging at his lips. “I saw this and thought… it would look perfect on you.”

He didn’t mention the fact that he went to a jewelry store and spent almost an hour searching for the “perfect” gift.

Emily opened the box to reveal a delicate gold necklace.

Her breath hitched. “Caden… it’s beautiful,” she whispered with a small smile.

Caden stepped closer, brushing a wet strand of hair from her face. “Not as beautiful as you,” he replied softly with a smile.

Before she could respond, he leaned down, pressing his lips gently to hers.

The kiss was tender, lingering just long enough to make her heart race, yet soft enough.

Caden pulled away slowly and he rested his forehead against hers.

“I really don’t want to go to work today” he said, his hand brushing hers.

Emily’s lips curved into a small, reluctant smile.

“But it’s Sunday,” she recalled.

“I know, there’s still a lot to do but I would definitely come back home early” Caden replied.

“Ohh alright” Emily said, disappointment laced in her tone.

“You want me to stay?” He asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I don’t want to be the one to keep you away from work especially with the election coming up” Emily replied.

“That won’t be a problem, I won’t let my father replace me, especially not with James Cater” Caden assured.

Emily finally remembered James, she totally forgot about him.

she wondered how he was doing and she never got to know what he wanted to say to her but she is better off not speaking to him anymore.

“Still… if you have work, you should go,” Emily smiled.

“I would surely come back soon soon” Caden murmured.

_

Emily watched Caden leave before turning towards the kitchen. “Shît i forgot to ask about Luis” she muttered to herself.

She totally forgets everything else when Caden is around her.

She took cereal and milk from the counter to prepare her breakfast when her phone rang.

Emily jerked when she saw who was calling her.

Her father.

“Dad?” Emily said to be sure it was tr old man calling.

“Yes dear, it’s me” Harper replied.

“Good morning” Emily said awkwardly, she hasn’t spoken to this man in weeks.

“Don’t make things uncomfortable, your mom and I want you to come home for breakfast” Harper Informed. “Bring Caden” Layla screamed into the phone.

“It’s a family breakfast, why should she bring him?” Harper frowned.

“He is married to our daughter so he is basically family” Layla retorted.

“He isn’t available to attend breakfast” Emily said, she wished she wasn’t also available.

“Ohh that’s to bad” Layla pouted.

“Anyway, we would be expecting you” Harper replied and hung up.

_

{STONE MANSION}

Emily was surprised to see her mom actually made breakfast.

That’s new.

“Have a seat” Layla ushered and Emily sat down.

“Did you ask dad why he froze your accounts?” Emily asked her mom.

“No, he unfroze it already so I don’t see the need” Layla shrugged and Emily sighed.

“Why did dad ask me to come for breakfast?” Emily asked.

“I don’t know, he just said he wanted to talk to you” Layla shrugged again.

Emily looked like she wanted to say something but Harper came downstairs and joined them on the table.

“How have you been?” Harper asked and Emily paused.

Since when did he care?

“Good, thanks” Emily smiled, she barely touched her food because she already stuffed her stomach with cereal before coming here.

“How’s Caden?” Layla asked.

“He is good too” Emily answered.

“You don’t have to stay married to him, you can divorce him now, the company is doing well, we don’t need support from the Kingstons” Harper said.

Emily’s breath hitched. “You don’t have to worry about that, I’m not divorcing Caden”

“Why? You were so against marrying him before now I am granting your wish” Harper retorted.

“That isn’t my wish anymore, people Change, so did I” Emily said.

“Why should she divorce him, he is good for her” Layla chipped in.

“Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with that play boy” Harper’s voice is sharp.

“And if I have?” Emily asked.

Harper scoffed. “You shouldn’t, I expected better from you”

“You should have thought of that before you forced me to marry him, my life doesn’t concern you anymore, I am a Kingston now” Emily snapped.

“We’ve never had one peaceful dinner and this isn’t any different” Layla sighed as she gulped down the juice from her neat glass.

“I love Caden and we are finally enjoying our marriage. Just let us be,” Emily said again.

Harper slammed his spoon on the table roughly. “You’ll regret your decision” he stood up and left the dining.

Emily watched her father go and she couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with him.

Why does he suddenly want her to divorce Caden?

He can’t always get whatever he wants.

“Just ignore him” Layla said and continue eating her food like her husband didn’t just storm away angrily.

{MADISON’S APARTMENT}

Madison kept staring at the email she was sent this morning.

She is finding hard to believe that she got the job at Venice Media when she went for the interview just yesterday and she got the job today?

Totally mind-blowing.

She quickly called Emily to inform her. “I got the job”

“What?”

“I got the job, Venice Media just sent me an email, I read it more than ten times to just to make sure” Madison screamed.

“I knew you’ll get it, you’re good remember” Emily chuckled.

“Yes… Ems, I am very good” Madison smiled. “How are you doing?” Madison asked.

“Is something wrong?” Emily asked instead.

“What do you mean? You didn’t see the tabloids, you’re getting burned, dragged and dumbed in the trash on the Internet!” Madison replied carefully.

“Is it because of the James issue?” Emily asked.

Madison sighed. “Of course, everyone is literally against you right now, you should stay at home”

“I’m currently in my parents house” Emily replied.

“The posts were already taken down, no doubt by Caden but you’re still on the hot search, be careful”Madison warned.

“I will, thanks” Emily said and hang up.

Madison scrolled through her call logs and messages.

Her chest tightened uncontrollably.

She has been trying to reach Nathan since yesterday morning he left but he hadn’t been answering her calls or texts.

She could hardly get any news on him because he is a private person which made her worry deepen.

She is scared he just decided to ghost her, the thought hunted her.

She knew his penthouse and she could just go see him but she didn’t want to trespass, after all what happened between them wasn’t serious right?

Madison let out a frustrated sigh and stood up from the couch.

{KINGSTON’S MANSION~1PM}

Beatrice was on her phone making her plans, she was planning her next move, she needed everything to go smoothly without any mistakes.

The front door opened and her attention turned to it, she wasn’t expecting Anthony to come back by this time.

Beatrice let out a smile immediately she saw Caden, she stood up from the couch and walked over to him.

She engulfed him a hug before pulling away. “I thought you’ve forgotten about me”

“I would never” Caden replied with a smile and Beatrice led him to the couch where they both sat down.

“You didn’t tell me you were coming or I would have made something for you” Beatrice sighed.

“You don’t have to, I don’t really plan on staying long” Caden informed.

“What is it?” Beatrice asked in concern.

“Were you the one who released the post on father?” Caden asked and Beatrice sucked in a sharp breath.

She didn’t expect Caden to figure out but that isn’t a problem.

“I know you did it and I honestly don’t blame you but why don’t you just divorce him, you’re only torturing yourself” Caden said.

“I don’t really have a choice” Beatrice sighed.

“You always have a choice, I would fully support you if you did, posting that won’t change his behavior towards you” Caden replied.

“I know, I would be fine, you don’t have to worry” Beatrice placed her palm on his shoulder and smiled warmly at him.

“I really don’t want you ending up like my mother, it would be best if you divorce him” Caden insisted.

Beatrice was touched that he is genuinely concerned about her but he had nothing to worry about, she would never end up like his mother.

He may not be on her side for what she is about to do but she wasn’t planning on giving him a choice.

“I would think about it” Beatrice replied.

“Alright” Caden nodded and stood up. “I’m sorry but I can’t stay longer than this” Caden said and Beatrice stood up too.

“It’s no problem” she replied and he pecked her on her cheek before leaving.

Beatrice watched him go with a smile on her lips.

{AIRPORT~4PM}

George came down from the plane and walked towards the car waiting for him.

He got in and told the driver to take him to Anna’s parents house and the man roared the engine to life.

George stared at his phone with something undefined in his eyes.

Maybe pain and worry.

He really couldn’t believe Anna was avoiding him, her mom told him she talked to Anna then why would Anna refuse to talk to him.

He was sure he didn’t do any to make her angry, his hands went to his coat pocket and he brought out the tiny box then sigh.

_

The car stopped in front of Anna’s parents place and he came out of the car.

George walked towards the front door and rang the door bell.

Stella was surprised and overjoyed to see George. “Why didn’t you tell us you were coming?” she asked.

“I didn’t plan to, it was a last minute decision” George smiled at the beautiful woman.

Stella stepped aside and George walked into the house. “George” Brent smiled and hugged George with wide grin on his face.

“How have you been?” George asked as Brent led him to the couch.

“I’m doing just fine, why did you suddenly come to see us today?” Brent asked.

“It’s about Anna” George started.

“She still didn’t answer your calls?” Stella asked and Brent sighed when George shook his head.

“I was hoping she would be here” George said truthfully.

“She isn’t” Brent replied.

“I would try calling her again” Stella said and brought out her phone.

But Anna’s number was unreachable, that gave George some kind of peace in a weird way because if she had answered her mother’s call again then he would know she was clearly avoiding him.

“I would try again later, her phone probably ran out of battery” Stella smiled and George nodded.

George shifted slightly on the couch, his hands tightening around the tiny box in his coat pocket. He took a deep breath, meeting Brent and Stella’s eyes.

“There’s something important I want to say,” George began, his voice steady. “It’s about Anna… I love her, more than I’ve ever loved anyone. And I want to spend the rest of my life with her.”

Stella’s eyes widened, and Brent’s grin faltered for a moment, replaced by a look of surprise.

“You mean, you want to…?” Brent started, but George nodded in confirmation.

“Yes,” he said, reaching into his pocket to show them the tiny box. “I came here today because I wanted you both to hear it from me first. I want to propose to Anna, and I want your approval”

Stella’s hand went to her mouth, tears of joy welling up. “Oh, George… that’s wonderful! She’ll be so happy” she smiled.

“If you’re sure that’s what you want then do it” Brent nodded.

George exhaled, relief washing over him. “Thank you… it means a lot to me. I just hope she’ll say yes.” he smiled

“Ohh my manners, I would get you something to drink” Stella chuckled and got up.

George’s phone rang and he picked it up after a few exchange with the person from the other line he stood up.

“I have to go, it’s urgent” George said and got up too.

“Hope everything is well?” Brent asked in concern.

“Don’t worry, when you finally reach Anna, please call me” George said walked out of the house.

{HOSPITAL}

George rushed into the ward to see nurses inside his father’s ward.

The machine kept beeping and George walked towards the busy nurses. “What happened?” George asked.

“Sir you can’t be here right now, please wait outside” a nurse said to him and led him outside.

“At least tell me what’s going on” George demanded.

“We can’t say for now, please be patient” the nurse informed him and walked back into the ward.

The elevator doors opened and Ava rushed towards the ward wearing her lab coat.

George held her. “What’s going on?” He asked again.

“I would get back to you” Ava replied and walked into the ward.

After what seemed like hours, some nurses began coming out of the ward and George’s attempt to get information out of them failed because they kept saying the same thing without telling him about his father’s condition.

Ava finally came out. “I need answers” George blocked her.

“His condition suddenly worsened, he is still in critical condition and we are trying our best as much as we can” Ava informed.

“But he was fine just few days ago” George frowned.

“Yes… But not fully, that’s why I recommended he remains at the hospital” Ava started and George ran his hands through his hair.

“Are they chances of survival?” George asked.

“I can’t say for sure” Ava bite out. “You should be prepared for anything”

George felt his stomach churn, he didn’t expect he would be this affected by his father’s death.

Maybe because he didn’t want to inherit his father’s company that’s why the thought of the old man dying scared the shît out of him.

“I’m sorry” Ava said, her expression filled with worry.

She didn’t want to see him sad, it hurts her to see him like this.

Ava rested her hand on his shoulder as a gesture of comfort.

“Why are you touching my boyfriend?” Anna’s voice boomed, gaining Ava’s and George’s attention.

Anna’s heels clicked the floor as she walked hurriedly towards them and push Ava away.

“What are you doing here?” George asked, he was supposed to be happy to see her but he wasn’t.

She has been ignoring him after all.

“Babe what do you mean? I came to see you?” Anna said softly as she turned to him.

“How did you know I was here?” George questioned.

“Does that matter right now, how’s your father doing?” Anna changed the topic.

She was in a taxi passing through this route when she saw George walking in and she decided to follow him.

It took a while to get information out of the nurse but she eventually found her way here only to see this doctor’s hand on her boyfriend.

“He’s condition is critical” Ava answered and Anna glared at her.

“I didn’t ask you” she snapped.

“I am the doctor, you should be asking me” Ava replied calmly.

George held Anna’s hand and dragged her away from Ava. “I have been calling you” he started when he was sure Ava wasn’t within reach.

“My phone died” Anna defended.

“Since last night? Why didn’t you charge it since last night?” George snapped and Anna flinched.

He has never yelled at her before, this was the first time.

“I was busy” Anna replied.

“With what?” George asked again.

It’s like Anna’s tongue was cut off because she really couldn’t form words, she hadn’t thought of the lie to tell George because he has never questioned her like this before.

“Why are you yelling at me?” Anna pouted.

“Are you cheating on me?” George asked the question he has been avoiding, he didn’t want things to get to this but maybe the news about his father just erupted his emotions.

“Wha.. wha.. huh?” Anna stuttered.

“That’s not an answer” George said weakly, he was beginning to think he was right.

“I can’t believe you’ll say that!” Anna yelled feigning anger and stomped away while George rubbed his temple.

“Wonderful girlfriend you have” he heard Ava’s voice and turned to her. “Sorry for eves dropping” Ava quickly said and walked away.

{CLUB~9PM}

James walked into the busy and loud place with his broken nose that had been bandaged.

He walked through the crowd and towards the VIP section, the bouncer at the entrance moved aside and James walked in.

He was led through a back door in the VIP section and into a room.

There he met a man smoking from a pipe, he was sitting behind a desk. “How wonderful, your nose is broken” the man’s deep voice sounded.

“I need more time” James said and the man chuckled.

“More time? You haven’t even gotten the COO position yet” the man replied and James flinched a little.

He presses his lips into a thin line “I would, the election is just being delayed” James assured.

“How many times do I have to keep waiting? You haven’t fulfilled two of the tasks you were assigned” the man replied, his voice deep and edgy.

“I would find a way” James said clenching his palms into a fist.

“You better find a way, or else you know what would happen” the man threatened and James drew in a sharp breath.
