{ONE WEEK LATER~HALTER’S MEDIA~10AM}
Emily just walked out of Liam’s office, he wasn’t happy with the news Nathan released a week ago, he was very angry at Madison, he even made a comment about how Madison and Emily were going to kill him before his time.
Emily sat on her desk and her eyes went to Madison’s desk which was empty.
Madison hasn’t arrived at work since the news was released and she wasn’t picking any of Emily’s calls or messages which made Emily worry.
She knew better than to go to Madison’s apartment because she wouldn’t be there as the paparazzi were already all over.
Emily was the one who advised her to go MIA on the media but now she is worried about Madison’s whereabouts.
She didn’t tell her to go MIA on herself.
“You really don’t know where she is?” Emily heard Jack’s voice behind her and she turned.
Another coworker she doesn’t like very much.
“No.. I don’t” Emily replied.
“Are both of you planning it or what, it was you all over the news before, now it’s Madison, how wonderful” Jack scoffed and Emily glared at him.
“This is exactly the reason why you don’t have friends,” Emily replied.
“I have lots of friends, you should speak for yourself” Jack scoffed.
“Go away” Emily didn’t even know what to say to him.
“Oh please, you and Madison are bitçhes, no wonder you both are so close these days” Jack smirked.
“What did you say about my wife?” Caden’s voice was heard and Emily turned to see her husband with a frown on his face.
She quickly stood up from her chair, she was surprised by his presence.
What the f+k is he doing here???
“Caden?” Emily blinked.
The shock didn’t only get to Emily, it was even more worse on Jack because Caden looked very angry right now.
“What did you say to her?” Caden asked again, walking towards Jack.
“Caden, leave him alone” Emily tried to speak but there was no reasoning with Caden because he wasn’t even looking at her.
His attention was directed towards Jack who was shaking badly, he knows better than to say anything in front of Caden Kingston.
“You can’t speak now huh?” Caden said. “If I see you anywhere around my wife then you’ll be asking for death, I don’t even want you breathing the same air as her and I would do that by making sure you lose your job for insulting her” Caden spoke with such might. “Leave” he ordered and Jack scrambled away.
“You didn’t have to do that” Emily reprimanded.
“Whoever gave him the right to talk to you in such a manner, he would pay for that,” Caden replied.
“Like I said, it’s not necessary, Jack is always a jerk, what are you even doing here?” Emily asked.
“Can’t I come see my wife at her work place?” Caden shrugged.
“Noo… Noo… Noo… I don’t know what ever game you’re playing but I don’t like being a part of it Caden” Emily frowned.
“What game? There’s no game” Caden replied with a smirk.
“Your face says otherwise, I’m working, don’t you have somewhere you want to be right now, I would really appreciate you leaving” Emily said as she looked around to see some of her colleagues staring at Caden.
Even those who aren’t on this floor of the building came here just for Caden, he is creating such a mess in the building.
“I would leave if you’ll come with me,” Caden replied casually.
“What part of I’m working don’t you get?” Emily said, reducing her voice for only Caden to hear.
“I don’t care, you don’t have to work and I’m not leaving here without you” Caden said.
“I can’t leave without my boss’s permission” Emily tried to use that to escape.
She has been trying her best to avoid Caden throughout the week maybe that’s what made him come all the way to her workplace
Or was it just to get on her nerves?
“I would talk to him then” Caden said and Emily sighed in defeat.
“You’re an à+shole” Emily rolled her eyes and picked up her stuff while Caden chuckled.

“Where are we going?” Emily asked as Caden drove, he has been driving for quite a while since they left Halter’s media.
“A restaurant, since you have been avoiding me, I would take this as my compensation” Caden replied.
“I haven’t been avoiding you,” Emily replied.
“That’s not the way I see it” Caden said and Emily sighed
The car stopped in front of an expensive looking restaurant and they walked inside.
Emily couldn’t help the gasp that came out of her lips. This place was beautiful, she hadn’t been to this restaurant before, it was huge and amazingly decorated.
“Amazed?” Caden asked with a smirk.
“Who wouldn’t be?” Emily answered and Caden smiled.
They walked to a table and sat down. “I own it” Caden said casually and Emily paused as she turned to Caden with a frown.
“No. You don’t” Emily said, not like he didn’t have the money to build a restaurant, of course he does, but the designs and decorations have nothing to do with him and Caden doesn’t strike as the type.
“Yes I do, no one knows I own it though, one of the many properties my father don’t know I have” Caden said and Emily was shocked, she knew Caden and his father had a strained relationship which she believes is none of her business but she didn’t know he had properties he hid from his father but that’s not even what was surprising to her right now
“Did you pick this design yourself?” Emily asked.
“Yes…. It’s my restaurant” Caden replied and Emily blinked.
“What???”
“Is it really that unbelievable, I’m Caden Kingston” Caden reminded.
“I didn’t know you had such good taste” Emily said truthfully.
“Now you know,” Caden replied.
A waiter walked up to them and they made their orders.
“So, why are we here?” Emily asked.
“Compensation” Caden replied.
“You really expect me to believe that? What exactly do you want Caden” Emily asked more seriously.
“Do you really want to know?” Caden asked.
“If I didn’t then I wouldn’t ask you” Emily answered.
“I want you” Caden smiled and Emily blinked, her cheeks turned rosy and a warm feeling rushed through her.
She was taken by surprise but then again this is Caden Kingston, he is definitely messing with her.
“I’m serious Caden” Emily quickly masked her blush with anger.
“I’m also serious,” Caden replied casually.
“You’re an à+shole” Emily complained and Caden smirked, then she remembered what he told her before.
About how her calling him an àsshole turns him on.

Emily’s cheeks heated more as she really couldn’t hide it with anger this time. What even made matters worse is that Caden was staring at her so intensely with that stupid smirk on his face and Emily couldn’t help but feel really embarrassed.
Thank goodness the waiter came and Emily quickly diverted her attention to the man who was serving them their food.
She ended up staring at the man too much just to get her eyes away from Caden which wasn’t a good idea because Caden frowned.
He was looking at her and she was staring at the waiter, was the waiter more handsome than him or what?
Caden made a mental note to have this waiter fired.
The waiter finished serving their food and left so Emily turned her attention to the food.
“I’m over here Emily” Caden said and Emily looked up at him. “Are you avoiding my gaze, wife?” Caden raised an eyebrow.
“Let’s just eat” Emily quickly changed the topic and started eating, Caden didn’t eat though, he made sure to focus his attention on Emily.

{GEORGE’S HOUSE~4PM}
George parked his car and got down from it. He was in a really bad mood because he just came back from seeing his father. He has been visiting his father more frequently than he ever wanted but he has no choice.
The old man is sick and keeps requesting to see him using his mother as leverage, though George doesn’t like the sound of his mother’s name on his father tongue he still had to meet him for the sake of his dead mother.
George walked into the house and was surprised to see Anna sitting on the couch, she looked like she just entered the house.
“Ohh.. you’re still alive?” George asked, his eyes blank as he stared at Anna who sighed and got up from the couch.
“I’m sorry okay, I was just mad about what you said, you really don’t trust me” Anna apologized.
“I think I know my girlfriend well enough to recognize her when I see her. I really don’t want to talk about this now, just leave” George replied and Anna pouted.
“Okay… I was in New York at that time, I forgot to take something while going to Los Angeles so I quickly rushed back to take it, I was waiting for my Uber when you said you saw me” Anna quickly explained.
“Why didn’t you just say that when I first asked?” George reprimanded.
“Because I was angry at how accusing you sounded, like I would cheat on you” Anna replied and George sighed, he ran his hands through his hair.
“You know how I feel about cheating,” George said.
“I know, that’s why I would never cheat on you, I feel like you don’t trust me” Anna pouted.
George engulfed her in a hug and she hugged him back. “I’m sorry” he apologized.
“I’m sorry too” Anna replied and pulled away a little before claiming his lips.
They kissed slowly at first before it became passionate and demanding like they couldn’t get enough.
“I missed you” George breathed before kissing her again and she returned it with the same desire.
Anna wrapped her legs around his waist as he walked towards his bedroom.

{CADEN’S HOUSE}
Caden dropped Emily off and drove away, he got an urgent call from the construction site and he had to leave.
Emily, who never wanted to go on this date with Caden, was rather disappointed that it ended.
After eating at the restaurant, Caden took Emily to a karaoke game where she laughed at how terribly he sounded when singing.
They talked about random things and she got to find out things about Caden she never really cared about.
Like the fact that he doesn’t sleep much, though he didn’t tell her why she could take a very good guess but she wanted to hear it from him.
Emily didn’t know why Caden suddenly changed but this side of him isn’t so bad, if only he could be more like this forever.
Emily took a cold shower and wore comfortable clothes.
She picked up her phone and slumped on the bed, she decided to call Madison one more time just for the sake of trying.
And to her surprise Madison actually answered this time.
“OMG, I thought you were dead or something” Emily quickly said immediately Madison picked up the phone.
“You were the one who told me to hide from the Media” Madison replied.
“Exactly, the Media, not me” Emily corrected.
“You’re a journalist of one of the biggest media companies in New York,” Madison reminded.
“True” Emily laughed awkwardly. “I’m just glad you haven’t been ripped apart by paparazzi, where are you?” Emily asked.
“I can’t disclose my location but am with Nathan” Madison replied and Emily blinked.
“With Nathan as in “with Nathan” or “with” Nathan?” Emily asked.
“What?? No, he is just helping me hide away from the media, that’s all” Madison explained.
“Ohhhh that’s nice,” Emily replied stiffly.
“Not really, if not for his sister I would be bored to death” Madison complained.
“So you’ve bonded with his sister,” Emily teased.
“Like I said, it’s not like that, Nathan is way above my league” Madison chuckled but Emily could feel a little pain in it. “Anyway, I saw the headlines, you’ve started going on dates with your husband huh?” Madison smiled.
“Those crazy paparazzi,” Emily gritted.
“He even threatened Jack because of you, things are really getting heated” Madison chuckled and Emily rolled her eyes.
It hasn’t even been up to a day yet and everything that happened in her life today has reached everyone in New York.
“Focus on yourself and stop poke nosing” Emily said. “Glad to know you haven’t died yet” Emily added.
“I’m not dying anytime soon Ems, Bye, I have to go now” Madison replied and hung up.
Emily sighed and dropped her phone, at least now she’s at rest to know that Madison is doing well.

{CONSTRUCTION SITE~4PM}
Caden frowned at the collapsed building, the construction had barely started but now all the hard work has suddenly collapsed?
About twelve workers were injured due to this “accident” and worse part of it all, he can’t seem to reach George at all.
“How did this happen?” Caden asked the person in charge of the construction.
“I don’t really know, It just happened,” the man replied.
“It’s your job to find out things like this and make sure it doesn’t happen, that’s why you get paid Finley” Caden groaned in anger.
“I’m sorry” Finley apologized with his head low.
“Sorry won’t change anything, what are the effects?” Caden asked, rubbing his temple.
“Well… This would take longer than expected since we lost twelve workers, maybe an extra three months” Finley managed out, the expression on Caden’s face made him swallow hard as beads of sweat formed on his face.
“Three months? I don’t have an extra three months” Caden complained.
“But-“
“Find more workers and get this done at the agreed time,” Caden stated.
“It’s not that easy” Finley voiced out.
“Then find a solution, we don’t get an extra three months,” Caden said.
“I would try my best,” Finley replied and Caden walked back to his car.
He got in and sighed heavily, running his hand through his hair.
He knew his father would do this, that damn old man would do anything to see his son fail.
That’s the kind of relationship Caden and Anthony have.

{CADEN’S HOUSE}
When Caden came back, Emily was in the kitchen with Luis, he was teaching her how to make beef stew and they were arguing of some sort.
“You don’t put that in beef stew,” Luis tells her.
“That’s not what the recipe says” Emily replied.
“Do you want it to taste delicious or not?” Luis questioned.
“Of course I want it to taste delicious,” Emily replied.
“Then listen to my instructions, I have been cooking for years” Luis replied.
“What’s going on here?” Caden’s voice drew their attention to him.
He stood close to the kitchen with his hands in his pockets as he stared at both of them.
“Ohh, you’re back. I’m just trying to cook and Luis is helping me” Emily said.
“I don’t see why you need my help when you won’t even listen to me” Luis grumbled and Emily sighed.
“You don’t have to cook, let Luis do it” Caden responded and Luis nodded approvingly while Emily frowned.
“Absolutely not!! I want to cook something other than pasta and Luis would help me” Emily retorted and Luis sighed.
“Do whatever you want,” Caden replied and walked towards the stairs.
Emily’s face morphed into worry, he looked very tired, she wondered if something happened to him.
More reasons why she should make this beef stew.

{KINGSTON’S MANSION}
Anthony was on the king size bed smiling at his phone.
Beatrice walked out of the bathroom with a robe, she wondered what was making him smile at his phone but she didn’t comment.
She wasn’t ready to get beaten tonight.
She put on her night wear and laid on the side of Anthony who hadn’t acknowledged her presence.
“Have you spoken to your son?” Anthony asked.
“No” Beatrice replied through her teeth, it’s really unnerving when he calls Caden her son like he isn’t his.
“When would you ever reply positively to my questions?” Anthony scoffed.
“I’m sorry” Beatrice apologized but Anthony ignored her and got up from the bed.
He walked out of the room and Beatrice sighed in relief, he looked like he was in a good mood.
Did something happen?
Beatrice’s phone rang and she frowned when she saw the caller ID.
