Susan left work, her thoughts heavy with the phone call from Mirabel regarding Jimmy. Though she was aware of the situation, she struggled to find an excuse to avoid confronting him. Just as she opened her car door, an unexpected force slammed it shut, startling her. Turning, she was met by Taylor, her face a storm of anger.
“Goodness, you startled me,” Susan exclaimed. “What’s the meaning of closing my door like that?” Taylor merely scoffed in response.
“Don’t pretend you don’t know why I’m here,” she replied coldly, arms crossed defiantly.
“Well, how could I possibly know?” Susan shot back.
“Of course you do. I know what you’re up to with my boyfriend,” Taylor accused.
“Excuse me? What on earth are you talking about?”
“Stop pretending, Aunt Susan. I witnessed what happened between you and Jimmy at the park last night. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself, chasing after a teenager?” Taylor’s words dripped with disdain, and Susan let out a weary sigh.
“Listen, kid, I have no idea what’s going on in that head of yours. I suggest you show some respect to your elders. Jimmy is my son, and that’s how I see him. He’s confused right now and doesn’t know what he’s doing.”
“He’s not confused! You’ve completely bewitched him. I won’t sit idly by and watch you take him from me.”
“If you can’t sit, why not stand? Now I understand your obsession—it’s your inability to control your temper. Just know this: the next time you try a stunt like that, I’ll show you exactly what I’m made of,” Susan warned, pushing past her to enter the car.
“You won’t get away with this, you whore!” Taylor spat, watching as Susan drove away into the street.

Upon arriving, Susan found Mirabel waiting in the living room while the others remained in the dining room.
“Did he tell you what happened?” Susan asked.
“No, he’s been tight-lipped, and what troubles me is that he hasn’t eaten anything since morning,” Mirabel replied. Susan sighed heavily.
“It’s fine. I’ll talk to him.”
“Please do. The last time he was like this was when you traveled out of state, and now it’s happening again.”
“Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s just school stress this time. Get me his food; I’ll take it to him.”
“Very well, let me fetch it,” Mirabel said, hurrying to the kitchen for the food. Rachel approached Susan and settled beside her.
“Aunt Susan, I believe I understand what’s troubling Jimmy,” she began, causing Susan’s heart to flutter.
“You do?”
“Yes, he’s harboring a secret. I’m convinced he has a crush on someone else because he often jots down thoughts in his journal,” Rachel explained.
“How can he have a crush on someone when he has a girlfriend?” Susan countered.
“I know he doesn’t truly like Taylor. From what I’ve heard, his friends pressured him into dating her,” Rachel replied, and Susan let out a weary sigh. “If you speak to him, I’m sure he’ll open up to you,” she added just as Mirabel returned with a tray of food.
“Here,” she said, handing it to Susan, who then made her way to Jimmy’s room.
Standing at the threshold, she hesitated for a moment before pushing the door open. Inside, she found Jimmy lying on the bed, his back turned to her. With a sigh, she gently placed the tray on the table.
“Jimmy,” she called softly, and he turned to her, surprise lighting up his face.
“Aunt Susan!” He sprang up from the bed, excitement bubbling as he rushed to embrace her, but she halted him in his tracks.
“Don’t,” she said, watching as disappointment washed over his features. “What do you think you’re doing? Don’t you realize how worried everyone is about you? Do you want to starve yourself?”
“I will if it means you’ll accept my feelings.”
“You know that will never happen.”
“Why not? Is it because I’m too young or not man enough?”
“Exactly! You are too young, and it cannot happen, Jimmy.”
“Please, Aunt Susan.” He stepped closer, grasping her hands. “Look into my eyes and tell me you don’t feel anything for me.”
“I don’t! For heaven’s sake, you are like a son to me!”
“I’m not! I love you, more than you can imagine. Please, give me a chance, and you’ll see that I’m the man for you.” His words hung in the air, and Susan sighed, weary and at a loss for how to make him understand.
“You are not in the right frame of mind. You are not in love; you are merely lost. Soon enough, you will realize that nothing will ever happen between us,” she declared, pushing away from him to settle on the couch. “I brought your food; come eat.”
“I’m not hungry,” he replied, sulking on the bed. She stood and moved to sit beside him, taking a scoop of the meal on a spoon. Grabbing his cheeks firmly, she turned his face toward her.
“I will force you,” she said coldly, shoving the spoon into his mouth with determination.
Jimmy struggled against her insistence, but she continued to feed him until the door swung open, revealing Taylor. Her frown deepened at the sight before her, and in a surge of anger, she rushed forward, pushing Susan away from Jimmy, sending her crashing to the floor.
“Stay away, you witch!” she spat.
“Taylor,” Jimmy exclaimed in surprise, helping Susan to her feet. “Are you okay?” he asked, but Susan turned on Taylor, delivering a sharp slap across her face.
“How dare you! Are you out of your mind?” Susan yelled.
“Did you just slap me?” Taylor retorted, her anger flaring as she raised her hand to retaliate. But Jimmy was quick to grasp her wrist.
“That’s enough! What the hell is wrong with you?” he shouted, flipping her hand away. “How dare you push her like that?”
“Are you taking her side? For goodness’ sake, I am your girlfriend!” she yelled, her voice rising. The commotion drew the rest of the family into the room, their expressions a mix of confusion and concern.
“You know what? I’ve had enough of you. I think you’ve overstayed your welcome. Please leave and never show your face to me again. I’ve tolerated your behavior long enough,” Jimmy declared, leaving everyone stunned.
“What? You’re breaking up with me?” Taylor asked, disbelief etched across her face.
“Exactly! I can’t continue with this anymore. This relationship is suffocating me. I only agreed to date you because my friends urged me to, but now—it’s over,” he said, tears beginning to stream down Taylor’s cheeks.
“Jimmy, what’s going on?” Greg inquired.
“You can’t do that, Jimmy. Taylor…” Susan began, only to be interrupted brusquely.
“Shut your mouth!” she shouted. “It’s all your fault our relationship is falling apart.”
“Hey!” Mirabel interjected sharply. “How dare you speak to her like that? Don’t you have any manners?”
“You all have no idea how wicked she is; she’s going to betray you,” Taylor declared.
“That’s enough, Taylor!” Jimmy shouted.
“What? Are you afraid I’ll reveal the truth?” Taylor taunted.
“What are you talking about?” Mirabel asked, her brow furrowing.
“Oh, it’s clear you don’t know, Mom. Your son and his delightful aunt are secretly…” She was cut off mid-sentence.
“Can you just stop already?” Rachel interjected rudely. “I’ve seen the cold glares you throw at Aunt Susan every time she’s with Jimmy. You’re always jealous and angry when you see women near him.”
“You think so?” Taylor scoffed.
“She’s right,” Mirabel chimed in. “I’ve tried to mediate between you and my son countless times. He’s complained about your appalling behavior. If this relationship isn’t working for you, perhaps it’s time to call it quits.”
“Please leave,” Greg said, his voice steady.
“Oh, so now I’m the villain? Don’t worry; soon enough, you’ll all remember my words,” Taylor retorted angrily as she stormed away, leaving everyone to exhale tiredly.
“Are you okay?” Jimmy asked gently, caressing Susan’s hand and locking eyes with her. Rachel observed the scene and couldn’t help but smirk.

Thank
I love Racheal.
