Lia hit the breaks after Caden fell to the floor, blood pooling around him.

Emily rushed towards him, leaping a lot because she hit the floor very hard.

Officers from the prison rushed towards them and Lia was brought out of the car by the police. “It was an accident, I didn’t mean too” Lia insisted.

Emily held Caden in her hand, blood soaking her jeans as tears ran down her cheek.

“Do..Don’t close your eyes” she stuttered.

“Em… Emily…” Caden called breathlessly.

“Don’t close your eyes Caden” she said again in-between sobs.

Lia gritted her teeth as she was taking into the prison. “I told you it was an accident!” She screamed.

Emily couldn’t care less about what was happening in the background, all she wanted was for Caden to stay alive.

He can’t leave her now, not now.

“Please…. Stay with me” she whispered.

_

{HOSPITAL}

Emily sat on the long bench outside the ICU, she didn’t care about her blood stained clothes and hands.

Her eyes were swollen from all the crying.

It’s been almost an hour but the doctors aren’t out of the ICU yet meaning Caden wasn’t safe yet.

“Emily!” She heard Madison called.

Emily stood up as Madison rushed towards her, Nathan following behind her.

Madison engulfed her in a hug not minding her blood stained clothes. “We saw the news” Madison started. “Are you okay?” Madison asked and fresh tears rushed down Emily’s cheeks.

“He’s not fine yet” Emily cried on Madison shoulders.

“Don’t worry, he would be okay” Madison comforted.

“I would talk to the nurses” Nathan said and left them, he clearly wanted to give them space.

“Have you had yourself checked? Are you okay?” Madison asked.

“What’s important is Caden, I need to be sure he is alright” Emily replied.

“Emily?” She heard George’s voice, he was with Ava.

“How is he?” George asked as he walked towards them, they always saw the news.

“We don’t know yet” Madison replied, her eyes met with Ava’s and she raised an eyebrow in question.

“We would talk later” Ava mouthed and Madison nodded.

The doctor came out and they rushed towards him. “How is he?” Emily asked.

“His condition is stable and we were able to stop the bleeding on time, he would need to stay in the hospital for some time to recover fully” the doctor said and Emily breathed in relief.

“When do we get to see him?” George asked.

“Not now, he is still fragile” the doctor replied and walked away.

“I told you he would be fine” Madison said to Emily who nodded in relief. “You need to get yourself checked and have a bath okay?” Madison instructed.

“I want to see him first” Emily insisted.

“You can’t see him now, take care of yourself first” George replied and Emily nodded.

Nathan walked towards them and he frowned when he saw Ava who sighed in frustration. “What are you doing here?” He asked his sister.

“We will talk later,” Ava told him.

Nathan wanted to say something. “I would take Emily home, Nathan you’ll drive us” Madison cut him off and walked off with Emily while gesturing for Nathan to follow.

_

{MORGUE~9AM}

Stella walked into the building with a solemn expression, she got a call yesterday that Anna was dead and she needed to identify the body.

She was shocked because she hadn’t heard from her daughter since that day.

Turns out she went to Canada and that’s where she died.

She got drunk, too drunk and got hit by a car while crossing the streets.

Anna’s father refused to travel to Canada to identify the body but Stella wanted to make sure it was her daughter.

She walked into the storage room and she was led to where Anna’s body was kept.

The white cloth that was used over Anna’s head was removed and Stella confirmed it was her.

She bit her lips to prevent herself from crying then she nodded at the man who led her here.

“We would make the necessary arrangements” the man said and Stella nodded.

She wondered if she should tell George about it but she decided against it because she didn’t want to bring bad memories.

_

{A WEEK LATER}

“Nathan has been ranting on and on about Ava and George, it’s like he doesn’t want his sister to find love” Madison said over the phone.

Emily walked into Caden’s ward. “Brother’s are naturally like that” she replied with a shrug.

“He is overdoing it” Emily could feel Madison roll her eyes. “And it’s annoying, Ava is a grown adult and he should accept that!”

“I’m pretty sure you’ll make him realize that,” Emily chuckled. “I have to go now, I would talk to you later, bye”

“Bye…” Madison said and hung up.

Emily’s eyes went to Caden on the bed, he was still sleeping. He had been like this for a week. The doctor said he would wake up soon but Emily was getting really worried.

She made sure Lia joined her mother in prison for what she did even though she kept denying it, which is useless because there was a security camera outside the prison.

Emily sat beside Caden and held his hand. “It would be so nice if you wake up right now” Emily sighed. “I would grant you one wish if you wake up” she muttered.

She has been coming to see him every day with the hope of him waking up.

It took a while for her mother to get over everything and she still hasn’t gotten over it fully, but at least she came to visit Caden yesterday.

Emily sighed at the thought of her mom, she couldn’t imagine what she was going through.

Caden’s eyes fluttered up slowly and Emily blinked, her eyes widened as she stood up abruptly.

She turned to call the doctor but Caden held her hand. “Don’t leave” his voice came out hoarse.

As expected of someone who hasn’t spoken in a week.

“I won’t” Emily whispered, tears pooling in her eyes, she is so glad he is finally awake.

“You said, you’ll grant me one wish if I woke up” Caden said.

“You heard me?” Emily asked in surprise.

“That’s why I woke up” Caden replied, his face still weak and pale.

“Of course, I would grant you one wish” Emily confirmed.

“Never leave me again, even if I push you away even though I would never do that again” he took in a weak breath. “Keeping you away broke me inside and I would never do that again, so promise me you would never leave me” he said softly.

Emily’s tears were already rolling down her cheeks. “I won’t, I won’t” she sobbed and hugged him.

Caden hissed and she pulled away from him. “I would call the doctor,” Emily said and got up

{FEW MONTHS LATER}

The church was quiet, filled with soft light filtering through glass windows.

White flowers lined the aisle, simple and elegant. No crowd, no noise just people who mattered.

Emily stood at the entrance, her hands clasped her small flower as she took a slow breath. Her dress was modest, flowing, the kind she had always imagined wearing one day. Madison stood beside her, adjusting her veil gently.

“You’re ready,” Madison whispered.
Emily nodded.

The church doors opened.

Caden stood at the altar, dressed in a black suit, his expression calm but his eyes fixed only on her. The moment he saw her,

Something in his chest eased, like a promise finally being fulfilled.

George stood behind him with a small smile on his face.

Emily walked down the aisle slowly.

Not rushed.

Not forced.

The perfect wedding.

When she reached Caden, he took her hands slowly and gently like head afraid her hands would shatter.

“You look beautiful,” he whispered.

“So do you,” she replied softly.

The priest began the ceremony, his voice gentle and steady, echoing through the church.

“Do you, Caden, take Emily to be your lawfully wedded wife?” the priest said

“I do,” Caden answered without hesitation.

“And do you, Emily, take Caden to be your lawfully wedded husband?” he said to Emily.

Emily looked at him for a moment, really looked at him, then smiled. “I do”

The priest nodded. “You may kiss your bride.”

Caden leaned in slowly, gently but Emily met him halfway.

The kiss was soft, unhurried, and real, unlike their last wedding kiss.

“I love you” Caden whispered pulling away slowly.

“I love you too” Emily replied with a smile.

The church filled with quiet applause as they turned to face everyone, hands still intertwined.

This time it was love, not obligation.
