“Caden?” Emily called slowly, he reached for her phone but Emily was fast and she quickly hung up just as James was about to speak.
She would talk to James later but she had to deal with Caden first.
He looked extremely mad with his brows curved into a deep frown.
“He doesn’t look like someone you would want to get married to. If it were up to me I wouldn’t have, You’re too good for him” Caden repeated their conversation. “Is that the conversation you’re having with the one person I despise the most apart from my father?” He asked.
Emily swallowed.
How long has he been standing there listening to her conversation with James?
“Answer me Emily!” Caden snapped at a quiet Emily.
Emily couldn’t wrap her head around why he was so damn angry.
He walked towards her and she moved backwards, he followed till her back hit against the wall and he chained her with his arms.
Emily didn’t have an answer to give him, she is trying to think of what to tell him but the damn words aren’t coming out.
This is the angriest she had ever seen him.
But why does she owe him an explanation? It’s not like she was doing anything wrong.
She was only having a simple conversation with a friend, she’s not sure she can call James a friend though but that’s not the issue at the moment.
“Why do I owe you an explanation?” Emily fired.
Caden raised an eyebrow “You talk about cheating but you’re here flirting with that jerk, seriously Emily” Caden said.
Because Caden was so close, Emily smelled the alcohol in his breath.
He was drunk.
Is that why he is overreacting?
“Are you drunk?” She asked the obvious question.
“That’s not the topic wife” Caden replied with furious eyes and Emily flinched a little.
“What’s your problem?” Emily asked.
“You’re my wife and you need to understand that, you can’t go around talking to whoever or flirting with anybody, do you want me to drill the information into your head?!” Caden spoke with so much force.
“I wasn’t flirting with him” Emily defended and it was like that statement only added fuel to the already flaming fire.
“I. Heard. You” caden spoke through his teeth.
“You didn’t hear right” Emily replied and she wouldn’t have guessed what happened next.
He kissed her.
Not slow, soft and sweet but rough and angry.
Emily was taken by surprise and couldn’t react at first but when she finally did, she tried to push him away but Caden was relentless.
He held her from pulling from his grip but Emily bit his lips hard drawing blood and pushed him away from her quickly.
The metal taste of blood on her tongue as she stared at him angrily.
Caden used his thumb to clean the blood as he stared at her. “I didn’t know it was repulsive for your husband to kiss you” he spoke like the thought alone hurt him.
Before Emily could react, he left the kitchen and walked up the stairs.
Emily bent to the floor as she tried to steady her breaths.

{NEXT DAY~6AM}
Emily couldn’t sleep all night, she kept turning and tossing in bed, she couldn’t get her mind off her fight with Caden and especially the kiss.
Gosh… She was so mad at Caden.
How dare he kiss her without her permission? And it wasn’t like she was fl+rting with James anyway.
What on earth did she say wrong for him to behave like that?
Was it because he was drunk?
Was that why he reacted that way?
Emily got up from the bed with dark circles under her eyes, she went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and got ready to go to Madison’s place.
She really should have stayed at Madison’s place last night.
She had even forgotten to text James after he sent about 6 messages to her last night and called her twice which she didn’t pick up.
She only met him two days ago and she is already quarrelling with her husband because of him.
It’s not like it’s his fault though.
Emily opened her room door and walked downstairs to make a cup of coffee to keep her alert.
What she didn’t expect was to see Caden already in the kitchen holding a cup of coffee.
Emily ignored him and went to make her own cup of coffee, he didn’t look like he slept either.
At least she wasn’t the only one who was affected.
Caden drank his coffee in silence, he didn’t bother talking to Emily because it was clear she wouldn’t even reply to him.
Yeah… He was mad at her for talking to James but he may have overreacted because he was drunk but he doesn’t regret it even for a moment.
He enjoyed the taste of her lips on his, the cut she gave him on his lips was still fresh though blood wasn’t coming out anymore.
The thought of Emily flirting with James raised the anger within him and his grip on his cup tightened.
“Emily,” he called.
“I’m not talking to you, not after what you did last night” she rolled her eyes at her and poured her remaining coffee in the sink.
She would just drink coffee at Madison’s house.
Caden wondered why she was mad at him when she was the one who did something wrong.
“You should drink warm milk” she added without looking at him before walking out of the house.
Caden watched her leave and he smiled.

{MADISON’S APARTMENT}
Emily knocked on the front door softly, she already called Madison on her way here to tell her she was coming, so immediately she knocked, the door opened.
Madison had eye bags under her eyes, she looked like she didn’t sleep at all last night.
“You really didn’t sleep last night” Emily said with a sigh as she walked into the apartment.
“I did try,” Madison replied. “Do you want something, juice or maybe coffee, it’s still very early” Madison asked.
“No… What I want is for you to come sit, we need to talk” Emily told her.
Madison walked towards the couch and sat beside Emily. “There’s nothing to tell, my brother is an à+shole and that’s just it” Madison said.
“Why are you letting him be an à+shole, you could definitely lock him up for assault, that’s why we have police officers and jails, for people like him” Emily reminded her.
“He was in prison till three years ago Emily, what kind of a sister would I be if I sent him back there and he would always come out, at least I can keep him in check if I have him money” Madison said.
Emily frowned hard. “You can’t always give him money and what was he in prison for?” She asked.
Madison took a deep breath, the topic was painful to speak about.
Her mother’s death.
“He kîlled our mother, by accident though, he has anger issues and when she refused a request of his he got angry and shoved her, she was frail because of how much she was working, so she hit head on the table and just stopped breathing” Madison said, unspilled tears gathered in her eyes.
Emily had all looks of pity in her eyes as her eyes softened “And your father?” She asked softly.
“Died even before I was born, by accident” she answered. “I never knew him and my mom hardly spoke much about him,” she added.
Emily pulled Madison into a hug. “I get you don’t want to lock Ambrose up because he is your only family but we have to do something about him eventually, this can’t keep happening” Emily said and Madison nodded slowly.

{KINGSTON’S ENTERPRISES~8;30AM}
The elevator doors opened and Caden walked out of it just as George came out of his office
“The meeting starts at 8 Caden, it’s already 8:30,” George said. “You weren’t that drunk to have a terrible hangover” George added. “Why is there a cut on your lips?” George asked.
“You talk too much and the lateness was intentional” Caden shrugged and walked into the conference room while George sighed and followed behind him.
“Terrible habit Caden” Anthony reprimanded.
“Really? I didn’t notice” Caden replied as his eyes moved from Anthony to James.
Unidentified anger rushed through him as he stared at the man who was flirting with his wife the night before.
Flirting may not be the right word but the fact that he spoke to Emily was bad enough for Caden.
“Let’s start,” Anthony said calmly. “Both of you are the candidates for the COO position, the voting would be in two weeks, you both should be more than prepared by then” Anthony informed.
“Isn’t two weeks too small?” James asked.
“It’s perfect, we need to change the current COO fast” Anthony replied looking at Caden.
He wasn’t even hiding the fact that he wanted to remove Caden as the COO.
“I see… ” Caden replied calmly.
Anthony smirked and stood up from his seat, he walked out of the conference room leaving James, Caden and George.
“Why did he call you all the way over here just for something that can be emailed” George frowned.
“How’s Emily?” James asked.
Caden gritted his teeth. “Stay the fuçk away from my wife,” he warned.
“We both know you don’t deserve her,” James smirked. “She’s really pretty” James complimented
“I didn’t know you were a match maker,” Caden retorted.
George was in utter shock, he didn’t know what was going on here.
Why were they talking about Emily?
James and Caden have been rivals since they met each other in college, whatever James did, Caden did better and that got on James’ nerves a lot.
Almost all the girls he fell in love with in college were after Caden and Caden made sure to rub it on his face.
They never liked each other, naturally.
James, because he was envious of Caden while Caden, because he just doesn’t like him.
He feels James is too pretentious.
“It won’t be long till she is fed up with you Caden, you have a terrible character,” James said with a small smile. “And I am taking that COO position” he added before leaving the conference room.
“What is he talking about?” George asked.
“Emily was talking to the fuçker last night” Caden fired and George’s eyes widened.
“Really? How did she know him” George asked and Caden glared at him. “Don’t tell me you didn’t ask her” George said but Caden ignored him and walked out.
“He really didn’t ask,” George muttered with a sigh.

{LIA’S PENTHOUSE~1PM}
Beatrice entered the penthouse with glasses and a hat.
It was easy for her to leave the mansion anytime she wanted and come back because Anthony really doesn’t give a shît what she did with her damn time.
“We need to do something about Emily mom!” Lia said immediately she saw her mother.
“Caden’s wife?” Beatrice asked.
“Urghhhh I don’t wanna hear you say that, she is not his wife!” Lia snapped.
“She is his wife, either you like it not Lia and why are we doing something about her, she isn’t part of the plan and she won’t ruin the plan” Beatrice replied.
“She is annoying!” Lia yelled.
“I told you to quit this obsession for Caden, it could put plans of acquiring the Kingston empire” Beatrice said. “I have been planning this for years and I won’t let you ruin this Lia” she added.
“Mom, you want to take the Kingston money and deal with Anthony for being a diçk not Caden, you can help me marry Caden when you gain the Kingston’s empire” Lia said and Beatrice rubbed her temples.
“Oh heavens, do you really believe Caden would want to marry you when he finds out I took the Kingston’s empire and you’re my daughter who helped me?” Beatrice asked.
“You’ll make it work, you always make it work, I can’t lose Caden to that whorè” Lia complained.
Beatrice knew that arguing with Lia would lead to nothing because Lia was already adamant about her decision.
“Fine, do whatever you want,” Beatrice replied and Lia smiled.
“Then all I have to do is get rid of that bitçh” Lia smirked mischievously.
Beatrice couldn’t careless about Emily, she didn’t give a shît what Lia did with her time unless it affects her plans.
Anthony’s days are numbered and she couldn’t wait to see the look on his face when she takes everything from him.

{HOSPITAL~3PM}
Ava walked towards the nurse behind the receptionist desk.
She was putting on a doctor’s white coat over her red hospital scrub.
“Hi, I am supposed to see Calvin Finn but I don’t know which ward he is in” Ava asked the nurse.
“Ohh you must be the new doctor, he is in the VIP ward at the 4th floor, ward 2, you can take the elevator” the nurse replied and Ava nodded.
“Thank you so much” Ava smiled at her and walked towards the elevator.
When she got to the 4th floor she made her way to the ward and walked in to meet the frail man on the bed.
He was awake, another man in suit sat beside him, talking to him.
“Hi, I am Ava, your new doctor” Ava introduced but Calvin couldn’t care less.
Seeing as the old man had no interest in knowing her she pressed her lips together. “I would check if everything is alright and give you some injections” Ava said and walked towards him.
After she was done, she left the ward.
“Give me every information on her, I had no idea they were changing my doctor” Calvin said weakly to his personal assistant.
“Of course” the man replied.

{VILLA~7PM}
Anthony was full on joy, the huge smile on his face was proof of it.
He walked into the villa to meet Anna who mirrored his smile, she held a bottle of wine and a tumbler filled with wine.
“I’m glad you could make it” she said when she saw him.
“I’m even more glad I could” Anthony replied.
“Let’s have a drink first, you look happy” Anna said even though she knew the reason for his smile.
George told her Anthony planned on replacing Caden, she could guess the rest.
“Happiness can’t express what I feel, I would finally put a little brat in his place” Anthony answered.
Anna gave Anthony the glass of wine she was holding and he gulp down the content.
She watched him with a satisfied gaze.
“How does it taste?” she asked.
“As sweet as you” he smirked with hazy eyes, he was beginning to feel hot and dizzy.
‘It’s happening so soon? I shouldn’t have put so much in the wine’ Anna thought.
She quickly remove the envelope from her bag and brought out the files.
Anna placed them on the table and brought out a pen.
“I need you to sign a letter of recommendation for me, you know I told you I have been trying to work with vintage holdings as their model but they kept rejecting me, I believe your recommendation would do the trick” Anna pushed the papers in front of Anthony.
“Really, they still haven’t accepted you?” Anthony asked lazily.
“Unfortunately no” Anna feign a sad expression. “Sign this letter of recommendation and am sure they would” she lied.
Anna gave Anthony the pen which he collected, he tried reading through the papers but his vision was sort of blurry.
“You don’t have to read through it, just sign here” Anna smiled as she tapped at the place he should sign and Anthony shrugged before signing the papers.
“I’m so happy, vintage holdings won’t be able to refuse me now” Anna said and hugged Anthony who smiled sheepishly.
She kissed him briefly and his head floated, literally.
Anna quickly packs up the papers and puts them in her bag.
“Let me reward you for this great favor” Anna smirked at him.
Anthony, still feeling lightheaded was full of so much lust.
_
{MADISON’S APARTMENT}
Emily texted Madison that she would come to her place after work but Madison strongly refused.
She told her to go home instead and Emily agreed after much persuasion, she felt like Madison needed time to herself.
Madison wondered how she would handle Ambrose, reporting him to the cops is a no for her but she needs to think of a solution and fast.
Her phone rang and she felt like entering the ground when she saw the caller ID.
Ambrose.
“What does he want now, he took my TV not long ago” she muttered with anxiety.
If she doesn’t pick the call, he would come here so she had to pick up.
Madison pick up the phone with shaky fingers.
“Yes?” She said and praised herself for not stuttering.
“Come outside,” Ambrose said curtly.
“What-“
Madison didn’t get to finish her statement before Ambrose hung up.
“À+swipe” she muttered and put on a sweater over her shirt before leaving her apartment.
