________________At Joyce’s House

“So, you decided to take a day off just to be here with me?” Joyce asked, a teasing lilt in her voice.

“Well, I have to be with my girl before she leaves.” Alison said his hand running around her waist

“Come on, I’m just going for two days,” Joyce replied

“Im going to miss you “

“Mister, you’re such a lover boy,” Joyce said with a playful smile.

Alison rubbed his eyes, grinning. “Well, you made me like this. Can you blame me?”

“No, I can’t,” she admitted, smirking. “So… why aren’t you coming to Paris?”

“Because I have business to attend first. But when I’m done , I will come ” he said.

Joyce nodded. “Hm… I be fine without you. If I wasn’t so worried about Ana,I wouldn’t be going.”

“Why are you worried?” Alison asked.

“You know… this thing between her and Charlie is really complicating all of us. I don’t even know what he’s doing with her,” Joyce admitted.

“Well, Anna is a grown-up. She knows what to do with herself and her life. You shouldn’t interfere,” Alison said.

“I’m not interfering,” Joyce replied. “I’m just worried. I don’t want her to get hurt.”

“I’m telling you, Charlie is not going to hurt her. He’s not a bad person. You know him , he’s been your friend since childhood. He will never hurt anyone. So don’t worry,” Alison said, kissing her cheek.

“Hey, let’s talk about us. Let’s forget about Charlie and Ana. They’ll figure things out themselves. They’re grown-ass people,” he added.

Joyce nodded.

“When are you going to tell me you’re pregnant?” Alison asked suddenly.

Joyce’s body tensed, shocked that he already knew. “What?” she whispered, her voice low.

“I asked, when are you going to tell me you’re pregnant?” Alison repeated, his eyes locked on hers.

Joyce’s heart raced, her lips dry, her throat tight. She didn’t know what to say.

“ Joyce?” he called gently.

“Yes,” she breathed, her voice barely audible.

“Marry me,” he said.

“What?”

“Marry me, Joyce.” Alison’s voice was low but steady.

Joyce froze, her heart skipping a beat. “What?”

“I want you to marry me,” he repeated, eyes locked on hers, full of sincerity.

Joyce blinked, trying to process him. “Are… are you serious?”

Alison nodded. “I’m serious, Joyce. No games. No jokes. I want you to marry me.”

Her chest tightened. “But… l … Alison.. ….”

“I don’t care about the past, you don’t have to tell me about it ” he said, taking her hands in his. “I want you, Joyce. I want you to be the mother of my child. I want you to be the person I spend the rest of my life with.”

Joyce’s lips parted, a mix of shock and something warmer flooding her chest. She moved slightly away from his lap, trying to collect herself. “And you’re proposing… now? Where’s the ring?”

Alison’s lips curled into a soft smile. “ I do have it with me? Do you agree to be the mother of my child? Do you agree to spend your life with me, Joyce?”

Joyce’s hands flew to her mouth, eyes wide. “Oh… God. I… I don’t know what to say.”

Alison’s gaze was warm, unwavering, full of love. “Say yes, Joyce.”

Joyce’s heart raced.
The weight of his eyes the honesty in his eyes… she couldn’t resist.

“Yes,” she whispered, tears threatening to spill.

Alison’s smile lit up, and he pulled her into a gentle embrace, pressing his lips to her hair.

“Yes,” he murmured against her head, “we’re going to have a beautiful life together.”

___________________Ana swallowed hard, her heart still racing from the close contact.

She glared at him, not backing down despite the storm of desire coursing through her.

“Charlie… I have a right to ask,” she said, her voice low but firm, eyes daring him to defy her.

He looked at her, jaw tight, the ice in his gaze clashing with the heat in his body.

“Ms. Evans… some things are not for you to question. Not now, not ever,” he said, but his hand twitched slightly as if fighting the urge to touch her again.

Ana’s chest rose and fell rapidly.

“So, what? I just… sit here and pretend I don’t see how tense you get every time her name comes up? Or how you’re still… affected?” she whispered, voice quivering slightly with frustration.

Mr. Kings’s ruffled his hair, and keep quiet.

Ana looked at him.

“Are you not going to say anything?” she asked.

Mr. King seemed unbothered by her.“Look, Ms Evans. This is something you shouldn’t concern yourself with. It’s my business. You don’t have to get involved in…..”

“Oh, really? Is that it?” Ana cut him off. “So it’s your business, and I shouldn’t be bothered when you look at another woman like that?”

“Why? Why does it bother you?” Mr. King asked, his voice low but controlled.

Ana scoffed. “You know what, Charlie? You’re such a big jerk I have ever met”

Mr. King’s expression didn’t falter. He stood up. Now they were face to face, eyes locked, fire burning between them.

“You love this jerk, don’t you?” he said, a smirk teasing at the corner of his lips.

Ana’s breath caught, and she felt herself trembling.

“I just want you to tell me who she is. I just want to know. That’s all,” Anna said, her voice trembling slightly, a mix of frustration and desperation.

“You don’t have to get involved in this, Anna. Even if you know about her… what are you going to do?” Mr. King’s voice was low, almost dangerous, but controlled.

“Nothing. I just want to know who she is. That’s all. Is that too much to ask?” Her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

“She’s just an ex, okay?” he replied, keeping his gaze sharp and unreadable.

“An ex you still care for? An ex you still want?” Anna’s voice was qute.

Mr. King froze, caught off guard.

He swallowed hard, the words hanging in the air before he admitted, “Maybe I still do.”

Anna flinched as if struck.

Her chest tightened, and her mind raced.

Wow… she didn’t even know what to say.

“Is that why you were looking at her like that? Like she still matters to you? Like she’s everything you’ve ever wanted?” Her eyes burned with a mix of hurt and anger.

“You know what? I’m done with this. I’m done being played by you. I’m leaving.” She spun on her heel and stormed back toward the house, her heart pounding.

“Anna, what do you think you’re doing?” His voice cut through the air, low and sharp, carrying both warning.

“We’re still talking, Ana,” He added as he followed behind her.

She didn’t respond.

“Ana,” he called again, but she kept walking straight to her room.

“Leave me alone,” she snapped. “I’m done talking about this. Go back to your ex for all I care.”

Just as she reached for the doorknob, he grabbed her hand and pinned her gently against the door.

Her breath hitched as she stared up at him, eyes wide.

His hand was firm, but not rough ,his body pressing just enough to keep her still, to make her feel him.

“Ana…” he said, voice low and rough, inches from her ear. “You think I care about her? ”

She tried to look away, but his other hand came up, fingers tracing her jaw, forcing her to meet his eyes.

“I came here with *you*. I want *you*,” he whispered, eyes burning into hers.

Her heart pounded so loud it echoed in her ears.

“You didn’t even deny it,” she breathed, barely above a whisper.

“There’s nothing to deny,” he said. “Yes, I knew her. Yes, I saw her. But that part of my life is over. The moment you stepped into it… everything changed.”

He took a deep breath and kissed the corner of her mouth.
“Juliet is in the past. Yes, I did love her ,but that was before.”

“You look at her like you still want her. If you’d really moved on, you wouldn’t feel the way you do right now,” Ana said softly. “Charlie, how can you say you’ve moved on when you still hate them like that?”

“I’ve moved on,” he replied, “but I haven’t forgotten.”

“Then leave me alone until you have forgotten Juliet… and Fatima,” Ana said, trying to push him away. But he didn’t move. He stood firmly, unmoved.

“I can’t do that,” he whispered.

Ana stared at him, frustration etched across her face.

Why couldn’t he see he was hurting her?

There’s nothing that hurts more than loving someone you know won’t ever truly be yours.

And right now, that’s exactly where she was.
She loved him. She couldn’t deny it anymore.

“I just want to stop… before I get hurt even more. Please, Mr. Kings,” she whispered, her voice trembling slightly.

Mr. Kings reached out, gently lifting her chin, eyes locked on hers.

“I’m going to hurt you, Ana,” he said.

But she didn’t believe him.

Her voice trembled “Why, huh? ,You keep saying you’d never hurt me… but since I got involved with you, that’s all I’ve felt, hurt. Over and over again. I can’t take it anymore. Loving you feels like hell…….”

She paused, chest heaving from everything she’d held back.

Then, suddenly, she shoved him back with trembling hands.

Mr. Kings stared at her, heart racing.

Did she just say she loved him?

Ana wiped the tears streaming down her cheeks. “Just forget it,” she whispered, turning to open her door.

But he grabbed her hand again, stopping her.

“What did you just say?” he asked, his voice low.

She chuckled then say “I said I love you… Now let me go. I’m done. It’s better I walk away before I get hurt even more.”

“I said I’d never hurt you ,” he said. “Why do you keep thinking I will?”

“Because you already did, Charlie!” she shouted, voice full of pain. “You hurt me the moment fucked me in that office, knowing damn well you weren’t going to choose me. When you said you wouldn’t break the rules for me ,that’s when it started. You acted like I was yours, touched me like I was yours, but deep down you knew… you couldn’t make me yours.”

Mr. Kings clenched his jaw, guilt tightening in his chest as he looked at the tears in her eyes.

“I never meant to hurt you,” he said quietly. “Yes, I said those things… but sometimes the things I say aren’t what I really feel……”

Ana cut in, “Then what do you mean, Charlie? Huh? You say one thing, do another. What am I supposed to believe?”

“I know you’re tired,” he said softly. “But I swear, you’re not just someone I sleep with. You’re not ”

“Then what am I?” she asked, her voice breaking. “Because right now, I feel like I’m just a girl you use when it’s convenient. But I’m not that girl. I can’t be.”

“I love you.”
The words burst out of him.

Ana froze.

“I f+king love you, Ana,” he said again.
