Fatima opened the door for Samantha. Samantha looked at her and could see how swollen her eyes were. She had dark circles under her eyes. Samantha swallowed hard, feeling bad, wondering if she had pushed her too hard.
Fatima closed the door and walked inside the house with Samantha following behind her. They settled down on the couch.
Samantha clear her throat
“What did he say?” Samantha asked, her voice low.
Fatima sighed deeply and placed her hands over her ears. A headache was coming on.
“I don’t know if I can keep doing this,” she whispered. “He said so many things to me—hurtful things. He made me feel like I was nothing… like I was cheap. Like I was a wh+re.”
Her voice trembled.
“He said everything he wanted, and then just left me like it meant nothing. He didn’t even act like he felt bad. There was no regret.”
Samantha looked at her in silence, struggling to understand why Charlie suddenly lost interest.
“Tima… did you try doing something to get his attention?” Samantha asked carefully.
Fatima scoffed.”What else was I supposed to do? I did everything! I dressed up, I looked good… I even stood naked in front of him. And he didn’t even look at me. Instead, he tore me down with words that I can’t even forget.”
She wiped her eyes.
“Now I feel worthless. Like I don’t deserve love. He was so cruel to me… I don’t know what to do anymore.”
Samantha reached for her, holding her gently.
“If you want to end this friendship, I understand. But… I think I need to give up. I’ve tried everything to make him mine, but it’s clear he never will be.”
Fatima dropped her head into her hands and cried.
Samantha shook her head.
“You can’t give up now, Tima. Please. You’ve come too far. You love him, right? That love matters. You have to try again.”
“Try what?” Fatima snapped. “Tell me what more I can do! I’ve done everything! But your brother still won’t even look at me! He was heartless, Sam. Why don’t you understand that?”
“Hey, calm down,” Sam whispered, pulling her into a hug. Fatima sobbed into her arms.
After a while, she quieted down.
Sam looked at her with compassion.
“I’m not forcing you, Tima. But please… you can’t give up. If you love him, we’ll find a way.”
Fatima nodded slowly, wiping her tears.
Sam leaned closer and whispered something into her ear.
Fatima listened carefully… then nodded agin ..

Mr. Kings frowned again just as Anna was about to leave his office.
“Miss Anna,” he said sharply.
Then, he walked over and turned her around to face him. He pinned her gently against his office desk and stared deeply into her eyes.
He wrapped his arm around her waist.
Anna looked up at him, shocked by how close he had gotten and how intense his gaze was.
Mr. Kings looked back at her, something unfamiliar flashing in his eyes—something even he couldn’t understand.
Anna swallowed hard and tried to look away, but he tilted her chin up, forcing her to meet his eyes.
“Did you forget that I’m your boss?” he asked in a low, firm voice.
His grip on her chin tightened slightly.
Anna stared at him, her throat dry. She didn’t know what to say or how to respond.
“I don’t appreciate being disrespected,” Mr. Kings added coldly.
Anna took a shaky breath, trying to calm the storm inside her. He was too close ,,his breath warm against her skin, his presence overwhelming. Every instinct told her to step back, but her body wouldn’t move.
Mr. King’s eyes didn’t leave hers. The silence stretched, thick with tension, as he waited.
Summoning her courage, Anna finally spoke. “Don’t you think it’s unprofessional to stand this close to your assistant, Mr. King?” she asked, her voice steady, though her heart raced.
A slow, amused smile tugged at his lips. “I don’t see anything unprofessional,” he said. “What I do see is you forgetting I don’t take disrespect lightly.”
Anna resisted the urge to roll her eyes and gently pushed at his chest. But he didn’t move. Instead, his hand at her waist tightened, firm and possessive. His other hand gripped her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
“Don’t play with me, Ms. Evans,” he said, his voice deep and controlled. “You know exactly what you’re doing.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Anna said sharply, her voice shaking slightly.
Mr. Kings’s chuckled amused before he finally letting go of her chin. She stepped back, trying to collect herself. Her chest rose and fell as she fought to steady her breathing. Then she straightened up, her eyes burning with anger.
“Stay away from me, Mr. Kings. Whatever game you’re trying to play—I’m not interested,” she said firmly, her voice louder this time.
Without waiting for a response, she brushed past him, her shoulder bumping his as she walked out of his office.
Mr. King watched her go, a smirk slowly forming on his face. A quiet chuckle escaped his lips.
“F+k, Annabella… you’re going to be the death of me,” he muttered under his breath.
Meanwhile, Anna entered her office and slammed the door shut behind her. She leaned against it, closing her eyes.
“What was that? What’s wrong with him?” she whispered to herself, placing a hand over her chest. Her heart was pounding. Her legs trembled beneath her.
“Why is my heart beating like this?” she asked softly, trying to understand her emotions.
.
She took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. Then she slowly walked to her desk and sat down, trying to focus,,but her thoughts were anything but calm.

Later that day, Anna parked her car in front of Milton’s house. She stepped out, closed the door, and entered the gate after pressing the code. As it slid open, she walked in and rang the intercom.
It didn’t take long before the door opened.
The moment Anna saw who answered, her face froze in shock.
Linda stood there—holding a baby, dressed in a nightgown. She looked just as surprised.
“Anna? What are you doing here?” Linda asked, confused.
Anna blinked. “What are you doing here?” she asked back.
Linda adjusted the baby in her arms. “I didn’t know you were coming to see me.”
“Your house?” Anna asked slowly.
“Yes. My house,” Linda replied calmly.
Anna looked around, still confused. “Wait ,,this is your house?” she asked again. “Am I dreaming?”
Linda frowned. “What’s wrong with you? Yes, this is my house. Why are you looking at me like that?”
Anna swallowed hard. “I thought this was Milton’s house. And now you’re here, with a baby… When did you give birth?”
“Three months ago,” Linda answered quietly.
Anna stepped back, her chest tightening. She was trying to process everything.
“I don’t understand,” she said, almost to herself. “Isn’t this Milton’s house? Why are you here?”
Linda met her gaze. “Yes, this is Milton’s house. And it’s mine too. I told you ,,I’m married. This is where I live ,with my husband.”
Anna’s heart dropped. “With Milton?” she whispered, barely able to
believe it.
Suddenly the door opened and Milton appeared behind Linda. His face changed the moment he saw Anna shock and fear rushed over him.
“Anna? What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice uneasy.
Anna frowned, looking from him to Linda, who was holding a baby. “What do you mean what am I doing here? I’ve been calling you. You didn’t answer, so I came to check. What is Linda doing here?” she asked, staring at him.
Linda stepped between them and placed a hand on Milton’s arm. “Milton, I thought you said Anna was your cousin. Didn’t you tell her I gave birth? And that we’re married?” Linda said calmly.
Anna’s mouth dropped open in shock. “What? Married? A child?” she whispered, her hands tightening around the strap of her handbag. She was completely confused.
Milton rubbed his forehead, clearly stressed. “Linda, can you go inside, please? I’ll explain everything.”
Linda gave Anna a cold look, then turned and walked back into the house.
Milton looked at Anna, guilt all over his face. He took a deep breath and said, “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? You can’t just show up here like this.”
Anna shook her head in disbelief. “I tried calling, but you ignored my calls. I had no idea this is what I’d find. And Linda? She’s my colleague! Why would I need to call before visiting someone I trusted?”
“Please, Anna. Let’s talk outside. I’ll explain everything,” Milton said quietly.
Anna nodded, trying to stay calm. She followed him outside to where her car was parked. Leaning against it, she crossed her arms and looked straight at him.
“Now talk. What’s going on? Why is Linda here?” she demanded.
Milton sighed. “Anna… I was going to tell you. Linda and I… we’re married.”
Anna blinked in shock. “Married? When did that happen?”
“It’s been a while,” Milton said.
Anna touched her forehead, trying to process it. “When did you even start dating her? You never told me. I remember introducing her to you as my colleague. How did you two end up married?”
Her heart was racing. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“Mil, say something!” she snapped when he stayed quiet, refusing to speak.
Milton rubbed his head and finally looked up at her. Ana’s breath caught the moment their eyes locked—his guilt was written all over his face. She covered her mouth with her hand and tilted her head toward the sky as tears threatened to spill.
“I… I remember introducing her to you. That time you came to pick me up from work. So… you already knew each other back then, didn’t you?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“Ana, look… it was a mistake. She’s a mistake. You and I—we love each other, and that’s what matters, right?” Milton said, moving closer, reaching for her hands.
Ana stumbled back, shaking her head. “Don’t… don’t you dare touch me,” she stammered, a tear sliding down her cheek. She wiped it away furiously.
“Ana, I’m sorry. Please don’t pull away because of this. I swear, she’s only here because of the baby, okay? She….”
“You’re insane!” Ana cut him off, her voice breaking as fresh tears rolled down her face. “You think this is small? Do you think I can just brush this off? This isn’t the first time, Milton! You’ve done this over and over again. And every single time, you say, ‘Ana, I’m sorry, this is the last time’ ,but you always go back. You never change!”
Milton stared at her, guilt heavy in his eyes.
Ana drew a shaky breath. “How long?” she asked quietly.
“Two years.”
Her heart sank. “Two years…” She let out a bitter laugh, clapping her hands mockingly. “So all this time you were pretending not to know her? Milton… wow.” Her voice cracked. She remembered introducing Linda to him and some of her coworkers. He hadn’t even flinched, hadn’t shown a flicker of recognition. And Linda,,she knew Milton was her boyfriend. Why had she acted so surprised back then?
Ana shook her head in disbelief. “Unbelievable.”
“Ana, please—” Milton pleaded, stepping closer.
She shook her head, backing away. “You know what? We’re done. This relationship is over. You can be free now.”
She reached for the car door, but Milton grabbed her hand and pinned her against it.
“What the hell are you doing?” she demanded angrily.
His face hardened, his jaw tight. “Why are you acting like this is all my fault? Can’t you just forgive me for one mistake, Ana? Just this once!”
She glared at him, fury burning in her eyes. “One mistake? You call this one mistake?”
He scoffed. “It’s not only my fault, Ana. Which man wants to stay in a relationship where he can’t even get s+x, huh?”
“Then go get it from your so-called wife and leave me the f+k alone!” she spat, cutting him off.
Before he could react, she kneed him hard between the legs. Milton let out a strangled groan, doubling over as he clutched himself in agony.
Ana yanked the car door open and slid inside.
“F+k, Ana—what the hell!” Milton groaned, fumbling for the door handle.
She slammed the door open into him, sending him sprawling onto the ground.
“F+k you, motherf+ker!” she shouted, slamming the car into gear and speeding off, leaving him writhing on the pavement.
Milton groaned in pain, cursing under his breath. “F+k…”
