They both stared at each other in silence. No one moved, no words were spoken.
Ana’s eyes locked on him, confused and shocked by the sudden kiss.
Just then, the elevator dinged and the doors opened. Ana stepped away from him without saying a word or even looking at him. She walked out.
Mr. King stood still, watching her figure as she left. He cursed under his breath.
“F+k… what the hell was that?” he muttered, just as the elevator doors closed again.
Outside, Ana walked quickly to her car. Her cheeks were flushed pink, her heart was racing, and her palms were sweaty.
“God, what is happening? Why did I kiss him back?” she asked herself as she opened her car door.
She got inside, rested her head against the steering wheel, and whispered,
“F+k… why would he kiss me like that out of nowhere?”
Her phone rang. She looked at the screen—it was Milton. Her heart skipped a beat.
“God… did I just cheat on my boyfriend?” she whispered, eyes wide.
Without answering the call, she started the engine and drove off.
**********
Fifteen minutes later, Ana parked the car in the garage. She grabbed her bag and phone before opening the door.
A warm, delicious smell hit her nose, and she smiled. She took off her earpiece and changed into her house slippers.
“Mom?” she called out.
Mrs. Evans smiled as Ana entered the house. “Hey, Ana. You’re home late today.”
“Are you okay?,”Her mother asked
Hugging her mother and kissing her cheek she replied. “I’m fine, Mom. I just missed you.”
“Is Alvin back?” she asked.
Mrs. Evans shook her head. “No, not yet. I’m sure he’s on his way. The driver went to pick him up.”
Ana nodded. “Okay. I’ll go take a shower first.”
“Hurry so you can come eat,” her mom said with a smile.
Ana went to her room, picked out some clothes, and headed to the bathroom. She sat on the edge of the tub, massaging her feet before stepping into the shower.
As the water ran over her, the elevator kiss with Mr. King replayed in her mind.
“God, what’s happening to me? Why am I thinking about that?” she whispered to herself.
“I hate it… Why did I kiss him back? And why did he kiss me like that out of nowhere?”
She let out a frustrated sigh.
“He’s my boss. I have a boyfriend. This feels like cheating.”
“Why would I kiss my boss?” she asked aloud, confused and upset.
“Why would I kiss him?”

*At Fatima’s House*
Fatima sat in the middle of the mess. Her house was completely wrecked—broken vases, shattered glass, furniture thrown around. Everything she had destroyed was still scattered across the floor.
She sat quietly, her eyes filled with tears that refused to fall. Her mind kept replaying Charlie’s harsh words, echoing in her ears:
“You’re just a desperate fool.”
She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. But there were no tears left.
“Why, Charlie?” she whispered, her voice shaky. “Why are you doing this to me? Can’t you see that I love you? Do you really think I only wanted your money or your body?”
Her lips trembled with anger and pain. “Why did you change all of a sudden? We were fine all these years. Why now? You’re mine, Charlie. I won’t let you go…” she whispered again.
Her hands clenched. Her face was a mess—makeup ruined, lips swollen and bleeding slightly from her earlier breakdown. Her whole body shook.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
“No…” she muttered, not wanting to see anyone. But her legs moved on their own.
She slowly made her way to the door, eyes still cloudy with unshed tears. She opened it and gasped.
~“Milton?”~ she breathed.
“What are you doing here?” she asked again, stunned.
Milton stood at the door, hands in his pockets. His eyes scanned her from head to toe—her appearance, her clothes, the chaos behind her.
Without a word, he stepped inside.
“Milton, what are you doing here?!” Fatima snapped, trying to block his path. “I told you not to come here!”
He ignored her and walked deeper into the living room. His eyes took in the destroyed furniture, the broken glass, the mess.
“F+k, Fatima… what the hell happened?” he asked, turning to look at her again.
Fatima wiped her face with trembling hands, smudging her already ruined makeup. She looked exhausted ,like a shadow of herself.
“What’s going on? Why is your place like this? And why are you crying?” Milton asked softly, concern growing in his voice.
“Why are you even here?” Fatima snapped again. “I told you to leave me alone, Milton! You keep showing up when I don’t want you to.”
“I came because I care,” he said. “I miss you ”
“It’s all your fault,” she whispered bitterly. “You and that woman. Everything is because of you. Just go back to her. Leave me alone.”
He stared at her in confusion.
“What do you mean? What are you talking about?”he asked.
Fatima laughed,,a broken, bitter laugh that echoed through the room. It wasn’t joy,,it was the sound of someone on the edge.
She threw her head back and laughed again, her voice almost unhinged.
“Why are you pretending like you don’t know?”*she snapped. “That bitch that Annabella Evans”
Her voice cracked with fury.
“I thought things would finally be okay. I thought if I gave him everything,, he would finally be mine. I thought the things I did… would make him stay. But no. he just played games with me. He used me and then run back to her, that bitch Ana”
Milton’s mind flashed to Ana. He’d been trying to reach her the whole day calls, texts, nothing. She hadn’t answered once.
Still confused, he looked back at Fatima.
“Fatima… what are you talking about?”he asked again, calmer this time. “What do you mean? Are you saying he’s sleeping with her?”
Fatima screamed”I didn’t say he’s sleeping with her,, I’m suspecting it!” she shouted, her voice breaking. “But isn’t that enough? Look at him! Look how everything changed when she came around!”
She turned away from Milton and stormed deeper into the house. Her hands were shaking. Her words were full of rage, heartbreak, and jealousy.
Milton followed slowly, still trying to piece it all together.
“Fatima, I don’t know what’s going on. Ana’s not answering my calls either. And now you’re like this, angry, crying, destroyed. Please, help me understand. What exactly happened?” he asked, his voice tired with frustration.
Fatima’s shoulders sagged. She looked over at him, pain written all over her face.
“He doesn’t want me anymore…” she muttered
“What do you mean?”
Fatima bit her lip, hesitating before answering.
“It’s because of her Your precious girlfriend. That’s why everything’s falling apart.”
Milton frowned and shook his head, clearly not buying it.
“No. That’s not true. Ana’s not involved with him. She hates the guy. She’s never liked him. I know that.”
Fatima scoffed, rolling her eyes and pacing again.
“You think you know? You haven’t even been paying attention! I see how he looks at her. The way he touches her. He hugged her, Milton. At that restaurant. You didn’t notice, did you? Because you don’t want to believe it.”
She stopped and stared at him, eyes blazing.
“So tell me, why did you even agree to team up with me, huh? When you knew you couldn’t keep him away from her?!”
Milton looked stunned.
“Fatima, I don’t know what you’re talking about. But I know Ana. She’s not seeing him. This is just your jealousy twisting things. This is nonsense.”
“I’m not talking nonsense!”Fatima screamed, her voice raw and filled with agony.
Fatima stood her ground, voice trembling but loud.
“I know what I saw! I saw everything. He came here—just a few hours ago. He’s said hurtful thing, something,… something he never did before .”
She pointed at Milton, voice rising.
“And you, Milton, you don’t even care. You’re just mad because Ana doesn’t care about you either or have s+x with you. That’s why you keep running back to me!”
Her hands balled into fists.
“I’m done with this. You, Charlie, Charlie , you’re all the same. You only know how to use me. And now, if you’re not going to believe me, then just leave! Go back to your perfect little world!”
“I’m sorry, Tima,” Milton said, gently, trying to calm her. “But… I don’t know if what you’re saying is true.”
Her eyes flashed. “So you think I’m lying?!”
“Non,, I didn’t say that,” Milton cut in. “But this situation… it’s a lot. I’m just trying to understand. And look, I know you’ve been through so much over the years. I haven’t always paid attention like I should have.”
He paused. “But Ana? I don’t think she’s seeing him. She hates him. She told me.”
Fatima laughed bitterly and looked away.
“If you don’t want to believe me, fine. Just go. Whatever this was between us , it’s over. And maybe that’s why Charlie never wanted me… because I’m too ‘much and desperate,’ right?”
“No, Tima, please don’t do this,” Milton said, his voice softening. He stepped closer. “You look exhausted. You need to rest. Let me help. I miss you…”
Before she could answer, he gently led her to the bathroom. He opened the bedroom door, walked to the tub, and started running warm water.
Fatima stood at the doorway, watching him. Why was he suddenly acting so caring? What was he trying to do?
When the tub was full, Milton turned to her and handed her a towel.
“We’ll talk after. For now, just relax,” he said gently.
Fatima nodded slowly. She began to undress, tears still in her eyes. As she slipped into the water, she looked up at him.
“Will you stay? Just hold me. Please,” she whispered. “I know I’m not as important as her… but just come and join just for tonight.”
Milton turned away, chuckling lightly.
“I just took a bath.”
She gave a faint smile through her tears.
“Then just sit with me. Please.”
He paused, then walked over and knelt beside the tub, taking her hand.

*At Anna’s House*
Anna sat at the dining table with a plate of food in front of her. Her mom was beside her, and Alvin sat across from her.
She pushed the food around on her plate, unable to eat. Her mother noticed how quiet and distant she looked.
“Anna, are you okay?” her mom asked.
Anna looked up, her guard dropping for a moment. She forced a small smile.
“I’m fine, Mom.”
“Then why aren’t you eating?” her mom asked again, concerned.
“I’m sure she’s stressed. Maybe it’s work,” Alvin said from his side of the table.
Anna rolled her eyes.
“I didn’t say I was stressed.”
“Then what is it? Why won’t you eat your food?” her mom asked gently.
“I’m eating, Mom. Please, don’t worry,” Anna replied softly.
There was a pause before she added,
“Today just… wasn’t a good day, that’s all.”
She looked down at her plate, her appetite gone. The table fell quiet.
“Did your boss give you trouble?” her mom asked again.
“I’m not saying that,” Anna replied, trying to stay calm. “Mom, come on. I said I’m fine. Yes, I had a lot of work today, that’s all. Can I go to bed now?” she asked.
Her mom sighed, seeing the tired look in her eyes.
“Alright, go ahead and rest,” she said gently.
Anna stood up slowly, carried her plate to the microwave, and placed it inside. Then she walked out of the kitchen, leaving her mom and Alvin sitting silently.
Both her mom and Alvin watched her leave, their eyes filled with concern. They looked at each other, wondering what was really going on with her.
*Inside Anna’s Room:*
Anna closed the door behind her and leaned against it, eyes shut.
“God, why do I feel like this?”she whispered. “Why can’t I stop thinking about that kiss?”
She felt a wave of guilt hit her. “Why am I feeling this way? It was just a kiss, right?” she asked herself.
She pulled out her earrings and sighed deeply, trying to calm her thoughts. Then she walked over to her bed, climbed in, and wrapped herself in the blankets.
She stared at the ceiling, her mind racing. She thought about calling Milton but shook the thought away. With a soft sigh, she closed her eyes as sleep slowly took over.

✨The Next Day✨
Ana walked into Mr. Kings’s office and began arranging his things, moving quickly, hoping to leave before he arrived. She was almost done when the door opened and he stepped in. The strong, intoxicating scent of his cologne filled the room.
Her throat went dry as the memory of the elevator kiss flashed in her mind.
She took a deep breath and turned to face him. Her breath hitched when she met his intense gaze piercing straight through her.
Her eyes dropped to his outfit—he was dressed in a sleek black suit with a matching black shirt and tie. He was all black from head to toe.
Mr. Kings tilted his head and pushed his glasses up his nose before walking to his desk and sitting down.
“If you’re done checking me out, Miss Evans, do you mind getting back to work?” he said, his voice deep and smooth.
Ana quickly looked away and cleared her throat. What was wrong with her? She hadn’t even greeted him.
“What’s on my schedule today?” Mr. Kings asked.
“I… I’ve sent it to your email,” Ana replied.
“Why?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“It’s not much today,” she said, meeting his gaze.
They stared at each other for a moment. The silence grew thick, the air between them charged with tension. Ana finally looked away, unable to hold the eye contact.
She picked up the tablet on his desk and cleared her throat. “I’ll be in my office,” she said, turning to leave.
But his deep voice stopped her. “Miss Evans.”
Mr. Kings stood and walked toward her, stopping just inches in front of her. His gaze bore down on her.
“About the kiss in the elevator last night…” he said, his tone cold and arrogant. “It was a mistake. Don’t get any ideas ,I don’t f+.k my employees.”
Ana stared at him, her eyes burning with anger. Then she rolled her eyes and scoffed.
“You’re so full of yourself, Mr. Charlie Kings,” she said boldly, her voice sharp with challenge.
Mr. Kings smirked at her, amused.
“F+k you, sir,” she snapped, then turned around to leave ,but he…
