Corazon and Anthony stood their ground, disbelief etched on their faces.

โ€œNo, this canโ€™t be true,โ€ Corazon said, her voice trembling. โ€œMorgan is our daughter. She has to be!โ€

Anthony slammed his fist lightly on the table. โ€œI donโ€™t care what the blood type says. Iโ€™ll only believe this when I see solid DNA evidence!โ€

The doctor, calm but firm, held out a folder. โ€œIโ€™ve already confirmed it through DNA analysis of your blood samples. Here are the results.โ€

He opened the folder and handed it to them. The DNA report read:

<DNA Analysis Report>

Laboratory: Central Forensic Genetics Lab
Date of Analysis: November 22, 2025
Case Number: CFG-2025-1187

Samples Submitted:

1. Child: Morgan Sinclair โ€“ Peripheral Blood Sample
2. Mother: Corazon Sinclair โ€“ Peripheral Blood Sample
3. Father: Anthony del Mundo โ€“ Peripheral Blood Sample

<Locus Morgan Sinclair- Corazon Sinclair Anthony del Mundo – Match to Mother Match to Father>

Parentage Probability:

Combined Parentage Index (CPI) for Corazon Sinclairand Anthony del Mundo: 0.000

Probability of Parentage: 0.00%

Corazon and Anthony stared at the paper, their faces pale, disbelief written in every line.

“Thisโ€ฆ this can’t be right,” Corazon whispered, her hands trembling as she held the report.

Anthonyโ€™s fists clenched so hard that the paper crumpled.

“I’m her mother. We are her parents. There has to be some mistake!”

The doctor, standing quietly beside them, shook his head. “The DNA was analyzed twice. The samples were correctly matched. Iโ€™m handing you the official report.”

Corazon sank into the nearest chair, covering her face. “Butโ€ฆ sheโ€™s our daughter. Sheโ€™s always been our daughter!”

Anthony ran a hand through his hair, pacing. “Noโ€ฆ no. This canโ€™t be. There has to be an explanation. Blood type, DNAโ€ฆ all of it says otherwise.”

The doctor stepped back, letting the weight of the report settle over them.

Anthony and Corazon remained frozen, the truth hitting harder than anything they could have imagined.

Bluey knocked twice and the door opened almost immediately, Trevor standing there, hair damp, eyes red, shoulders tense.

โ€œHeyโ€ฆ can I come in?โ€ Bluey asked softly.

He stepped aside without a word. She walked in, and he closed the door behind her.

โ€œHowโ€™s Morgan?โ€ Bluey asked, turning to face him.

โ€œSheโ€™s still unconscious,โ€ Trevor murmured, voice worn thin, โ€œ..but sheโ€™s already out of danger.โ€

Bluey studied him, the dark circles under his eyes, the way he kept clenching and unclenching his fists.

โ€œYou look so drained,โ€ she said. โ€œHave you even slept at all? Or eaten anything?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not hungry,โ€ Trevor muttered. โ€œAnd Iโ€™ll sleep later. I just came to shower and head back to the hospital.โ€

He dragged a hand into his hair. โ€œI want to be the first person she sees when she wakes up.โ€

โ€œHeyโ€ฆโ€ Bluey took his hand gently and pulled him toward the couch.

He resisted for a second, then gave in and sat with her.

โ€œWhy are you trying to punish yourself like this?โ€ she asked quietly.

Trevor laughed bitterly, shaking his head. โ€œArenโ€™t I already miserable? If it werenโ€™t for me, she wouldnโ€™t be lying there right now. I justโ€ฆ hate myself so much.โ€

โ€œShh.โ€ Bluey squeezed his hand.

โ€œWhatโ€™s important is that sheโ€™s safe. Sheโ€™s strong, Trevor. Stronger than anyone gives her credit for. Sheโ€™ll pull through. You shouldnโ€™t be torturing yourself.โ€

Trevorโ€™s throat tightened. He looked down, breathing unevenly, like he was fighting the urge to break.

Bluey didnโ€™t let go of his hand.

Bluey pulled him closer so his head rested on her thighs as he lay on the couch, his breathing uneven, exhaustion written all over his face.

โ€œYou should really get some rest and maybe eat as well. What do you want to eat?โ€ she asked softly, her fingers threading through his hair.

โ€œHm. Anything at all, I donโ€™t mind,โ€ he mumbled.

โ€œSo youโ€™re actually hungry, yet youโ€™re here sulking,โ€ she muttered, giving his back a small smack.

Trevor let out a tiny chuckle.

โ€œShould I order? Wouldโ€™ve loved to cook for you but Iโ€™m really terrible,โ€ She added.

โ€œOf course youโ€™d be terrible. Lazy,โ€ He said.

โ€œWho are you calling lazy, huh?โ€ Bluey raised a brow.

โ€œWho elseโ€ฆโ€

They both chuckled quietly, the tension easing for a moment.

โ€œThanks, Bluey. I really needed someone to calm me down,โ€ Trevor whispered.

โ€œYou can always call me if you need anything. Thatโ€™s what friends are for,โ€ she said, still stroking his hair gently.

He was silent for a moment. Then, in a low voice. โ€œCan we be more than friends?โ€

โ€œMore than friends?โ€Bluey blinked.

โ€œYeahโ€ฆ can youโ€ฆ be my sister instead?โ€ He asked.

โ€œSister? You havenโ€™t even accepted Morgan as your sister, and you want me to be your sister?โ€ she teased.

โ€œStop saying that,โ€ He grumbled weakly.

โ€œSorry,โ€ She whispered, smoothing his hair again.

It didnโ€™t take long before his breathing softened. In a few minutes, he was already asleep, completely worn out.

โ€œSuch a cutie,โ€ She murmured with a small smile.

She slowly lifted his head, careful not to wake him, and placed a cushion under it before lowering him gently onto the couch.

Then she took out her phone and quietly began typing, ordering food for him.

Banjo walked into the house, shutting the door behind him with a tired sigh.

Marco was in the cellar-facing living room, one of his men counting boxes of ammo stacked on the table.

โ€œBoss.โ€ Banjo straightened.

Marco nodded once, looking up.

โ€œWhere were you last night?โ€ Marco asked. โ€œI didnโ€™t see you. Did you go see your ex?โ€

Banjo scoffed. โ€œI donโ€™t give a shit about Maureen.โ€

Marcoโ€™s eyes dropped to the bandage peeking from Banjoโ€™s sleeve.
โ€œSo where were you? And whatโ€™s that on your arm?โ€

Banjo exhaled, long and heavy.

Marco stared at him for a moment, then leaned back.
โ€œWonโ€™t you tell her? Itโ€™s been nineteen years already.โ€

โ€œI know,โ€ Banjo muttered, rubbing his forehead. โ€œIโ€™ll tell her eventually. But firstโ€ฆ I need to also tell Maureen.โ€

Marco winced. โ€œYou sure you wonโ€™t get into trouble?โ€

Banjo gave him a tired look. โ€œItโ€™s not like itโ€™s my fault anyway. It just happened.โ€

โ€œYeah, I know,โ€ Marco muttered. โ€œStillโ€ฆ itโ€™s a big thing to drop on Maureen.โ€

Banjo didnโ€™t reply.

Marco changed the subject.
โ€œAnyway, the masked ball is coming soon. I need you and the men ready to grab Iris.โ€

Banjo nodded. โ€œSure, boss. But wonโ€™t you be suspected? Kidnapping her at an event where other MIA legacies will be? Robert might start a war.โ€

Marco smirked, leaning forward with a lazy confidence.
โ€œDonโ€™t worry. No oneโ€™s going to suspect me especially if Iโ€™m there.โ€

Banjo didnโ€™t hide his skepticism, but he said nothing. Marco always had a planโ€ฆ and that was the scary part.

โ˜…๐Œ๐ˆ๐€โ˜…

The students gathered at the assembly grounds, murmuring among themselves until Miss Dora stepped forward.

The atmosphere immediately shifted… stiff, tense, expectant.

Her voice carried across the field, calm but sharp.

โ€œGood morning, students. As you already know, tomorrow night is the annual MIA Masked Ball.โ€

Blueyโ€™s eyes flicked toward Sergio, who only folded his arms.

โ€œThis year,โ€ Miss Dora continued, โ€œthe ball will be a little moreโ€ฆ eventful. The MIA legacies will be present.โ€

A wave of reactions rippled through the group โ€” excitement, anxiety, dread.

โ€œAnd,โ€ she added, clasping her hands behind her back, โ€œ..there will be a tournament. A duel between selected students. So you all should prepare yourselves.โ€

โ€œWhat? A duel?โ€ Loci whispered under his breath.

Nia lifted her hand slightly. โ€œMiss Doraโ€ฆ who are the students that are going to participate in the duel?โ€

Miss Dora smiled โ€” that unsettling, mysterious smile that meant she wouldnโ€™t give them anything useful.

โ€œWhy not be surprised?โ€

Nia clicked her tongue. โ€œThatโ€™s not fairโ€ฆโ€

โ€œLife isnโ€™t fair, Miss Nia,โ€ Miss Dora replied lightly. โ€œYou should know that by now.โ€

โ€œIs the duel going to be dangerous?โ€ Gomez asked.

โ€œWhat do you think?โ€Miss Dora asked.

The students fell silent again.

โ€œYou will all receive your invitations, masks, and instructions later today. Until thenโ€”rest. Tomorrow is going to beโ€ฆ memorable.โ€

She stepped away, heels echoing sharply as they stared after her, hearts beating with a mixture of curiosity and fear.

The ball wouldnโ€™t just be a ball.

And everyone knew it.

Bluey who was standing at a spot with Hyce and Sergio looked at Natalie, and Natalie immediately walked over to them with a little smile.

โ€œGuysโ€ฆ Natalieโ€™s going to be part of the crew,โ€ Bluey said quietly.

Sergio turned sharply. โ€œYou told her?โ€

โ€œMore like she was suspicious,โ€ Bluey muttered.

โ€œHi you guys.โ€ Natalie giggled, too bright for the tension around them.

โ€œThis is a big secret. Donโ€™t go spilling it,โ€ Sergio warned.

โ€œIโ€™m not going to. Iโ€™m not a blabber mouth. And I really would like to help,โ€ Natalie insisted.

โ€œSo, we all know whoโ€™s going to participate in the duel,โ€ Hyce said.

โ€œReally? Yโ€™all know?โ€ Natalie asked, eyes widening.

โ€œNia and Arisโ€ฆ then Hades and I,โ€ Bluey replied.

โ€œReally? Thatโ€™s messed up,โ€ Natalie said, her face falling.

โ€œThe thing isโ€ฆ for each duel, one person is going to die,โ€ Hyce added bluntly.

โ€œWhat?!โ€ Natalie yelped, too loud.

Bluey instantly slapped her palm over Natalieโ€™s mouth. โ€œShut up!โ€

Natalieโ€™s eyes bulged, muffled noises escaping as Bluey dragged her closer.

โ€œDo you want anyone hearing you?โ€ Sergio hissed.

Natalie shook her head rapidly, still wide-eyed.

Bluey slowly pulled her hand away.

Natalie whispered harshly, โ€œIs this school insane?!โ€

โ€œWelcome to MIA,โ€ Hyce said dryly.

Bluey sighed, rubbing her temples. โ€œThis is why I didnโ€™t want a lot of people involved. Itโ€™s dangerous, Nat.โ€

โ€œBut Iโ€™m already in now,โ€ Natalie said, voice trembling but determined. โ€œAnd Iโ€™m not backing out.โ€

Sergio folded his arms. โ€œThen keep your mouth shut, your head down, and donโ€™t panic.โ€

โ€œI wonโ€™t.โ€ Natalie inhaled deeply, steadying herself.

Bluey glanced at her, worried. โ€œJustโ€ฆ donโ€™t do anything stupid.โ€

Natalie nodded.

But her hands were still shaking.

โ€œButโ€ฆ I already know Nia is stronger than Aris, everyone knows that. But you and Hades?โ€Natalie shook her head.

Sergio crossed his arms. โ€œIsnโ€™t this going to be a problem? Do you have a plan, Bluey?โ€

Bluey shook her head calmly. โ€œNo. Weโ€™ll just go ahead with what they want.โ€

Hyceโ€™s eyes widened. โ€œWhat? Going into that vicious duel with no plan is crazy, Bluey.โ€

โ€œLook,โ€ Bluey sighed, โ€œIf thereโ€™s anything at all, Hades wonโ€™t let me die. Heโ€™s an Ace student. And Iโ€™m pretty sure he wonโ€™t die either. Technically, they wonโ€™t let him die.โ€

Natalie stared at her. โ€œThatโ€™s the plan? Youโ€™re just leaving everything to luck?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€ Bluey said simply.

Hyce nudged her elbow. โ€œHades is approaching.โ€

Hades walked up with that quiet confidence, and without a word, leaned down and kissed Bluey.

Hyce pulled a face. โ€œCan you not show off all the time?โ€

Sergio smirked and leaned in, kissing Hyce’s cheek. โ€œCโ€™mon, babe, donโ€™t be jealous.โ€

Hades glared lightly at Hyce before slipping an arm around Bluey. โ€œCan I borrow my girl? Yโ€™all seem to be discussing something.โ€

โ€œSure, sheโ€™s all yours,โ€ Natalie said, grinning as she pushed Bluey toward him.

Hades walked off with Bluey, hand in hand, while the others watched.

โ€œWhere are we going?โ€ Bluey asked, trying to keep up as Hades tugged her gently by the wrist.

โ€œOn a date,โ€ he said simply.

โ€œAโ€ฆ date?โ€ She blinked at him.

Hades glanced back with a small, smug smile. โ€œYeah. And weโ€™re starting with Disneyland. I remember promising you that.โ€

Bluey stopped walking for a second, eyes widening. โ€œReally? Weโ€™re going?โ€

โ€œMm-hmm.โ€ He leaned down a little. โ€œUnless you donโ€™t want to go with me.โ€

โ€œWhat? No!โ€ Her face lit up instantly. โ€œOf course I want to go!โ€

โ€œGood.โ€ Hades laced their fingers together like it was the easiest thing in the world. โ€œThen letโ€™s make today yours.โ€

Bluey bit her lip, trying and failing to hide how excited she suddenly was. โ€œHadesโ€ฆ this is actually sweet. Just be like this all the time.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t get used to it.โ€ He nudged her forward. โ€œI can still be an as$h0le in the next ten minutes.โ€

She laughed.
โ€œStop trying to act tough.โ€

Trevor stood at the foot of Morganโ€™s bed, arms crossed tight, jaw clenched so hard a vein ticked at his neck.

Morgan blinked back at him, confused. Heโ€™d been staring at her for nearly twenty minutes without a single word.

“You’re not going to say anything?” Morgan finally asked.

Her voice was still soft and raspy. “You’ve been looking at me for close to twenty minutes now.”

Trevor didnโ€™t move.
Then, quietly, “Whyโ€™d you do it?”

She frowned. “Do what?”

“Whyโ€™d you take the bullet for me?” His voice cracked just a little, but he forced it steady.

“Iโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t want you to get shot,” she mumbled.

“By putting yourself at risk?” he snapped, eyes flashing.

Morganโ€™s bottom lip pushed into a tiny pout.

Trevor exhaled sharply and stepped closer to the bed, resting his hands on the rail.

“Morganโ€ฆ donโ€™t do that again. You scared the shit out of me.”

She stared at him, guilt settling in her chest.
“Butโ€ฆ you wouldโ€™ve done the same thing if it were me, right? I mean, you already did once. Last semester.”

Trevor shook his head firmly.
“Itโ€™s different, okay? Iโ€™m the guy here. Iโ€™m stronger. You shouldnโ€™t risk your life like that.”

Morgan looked away, feeling small.
“Strong or notโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t want to lose you.”

Trevorโ€™s breath hitched, just barely before he covered it with another sigh and reached out to brush a loose hair from her face.

“Morgan. I mean it. Donโ€™t ever do that again.” Trevorโ€™s voice softened, the frustration melting into something rawer, shakier.

โ€œI wonโ€™t forgive myself if anything had happened to you,โ€ He said quietly, the words sounding like they were dragged straight out of his chest.

โ€œMorganโ€ฆ I wonโ€™t be able to live without you. You donโ€™t get it. Iโ€™m the one whoโ€™s supposed to protect you.โ€

Her eyes softened, all that stubborn silence turning into something warm.

โ€œOkayโ€ฆ I wonโ€™t do it again,โ€ She whispered. โ€œI promise.โ€

Trevor exhaled like he had been holding his breath for hours. He moved closer, sitting at the edge of the bed, his fingers brushing her hair away from her face.

โ€œAre you feeling any pain?โ€ He asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

Morgan nodded a little, lips tightening. โ€œYeah. The wound still hurtsโ€ฆ really bad.โ€

He reached for the remote, adjusting the incline of her bed carefully so she wouldnโ€™t stretch the area that hurt. His movements were gentle, almost trembling.

โ€œTell me if it gets worse,โ€ He said. โ€œIโ€™ll call the nurse right away.โ€

Morgan watched him, really watched himโ€”the worry etched all over his face, the way he hovered as if one wrong move would shatter her.

โ€œTrevorโ€ฆโ€

He hummed, eyes still scanning her, as if looking for more hidden injuries.

โ€œYouโ€™re being dramatic. I’m really okay now.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t care,โ€ He replied instantly. โ€œNot when itโ€™s you.โ€

Sergio clicked the marker and wrote one word in bold on the whiteboard:

JOKER

โ€œSo, while weโ€™re here, our agenda is simple,โ€ he said, stepping back with crossed arms. โ€œWho is Joker?โ€

Natalie and Hyce exchanged glances.

“So, we have contenders… Since it’s clearly a guy, our options are narrowed down. Trevor, Gomez, Loci, Hades, Hugo,” Hyce said.

“Or it could be you or Sergio,” Natalie added.

Sergio and Hyce glared at her.

“Joking. So, we’re certain Joker is a guy, and he… geez, that guy’s a murderer,” Natalie shook her head.

“I don’t think it’s Hugo,” Hyce said.

“What makes you say that?” Sergio asked.

“I don’t know, but Hugo doesn’t have the guts to kill someone. He just doesn’t,” Hyce explained.

“How about Loci? He’s your friend, right?” Sergio asked.

“You really think it’s him?” Natalie questioned.

“Don’t get us started with the ‘he’s not strong enough’ stuff, he’s a Knight so he has the skills,” Sergio said firmly.

“And Gomez too, he has potential to be a traitor,” Hyce scoffed.

“And then there’s Hades and Trevor,” Natalie added.

They both looked at him.

“If anything, they’re the strongest out of the people we’re suspecting,” Natalie continued.

“Hades… doesn’t look like someone who follows orders or lets someone boss him around,” Hyce commented.

“But he has the potential to kill. He’s ruthless, and he’s the strongest,” Sergio said.

“But it’s impossible for it to be him, like Hyce said he doesn’t look like someone who follows orders or lets someone boss him around,” Natalie added.

“Then is it Trevor?” Sergio asked.

“You know what? Let’s find out what’s in that vault first. We might have a better clue instead of pointing fingers at others,” Hyce concluded.

โ˜…๐ƒ๐ข๐ฌ๐ง๐ž๐ฒ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐โ˜… 6PM

Bluey stood at the entrance of Disneyland, her eyes sparkling like a childโ€™s despite her usual calm demeanor.

She wore a red bum-fitted short, a stylish crop top layered over it, and white sneakers that made her look effortlessly cute yet confident.

Hadesโ€™ gaze lingered on her a moment too long, his jaw tight.

โ€œI donโ€™t like how your legs are showing,โ€ He muttered, his voice low, possessive.

โ€œWhy not? A girl should feel s+ร—y.โ€Bluey smirked.

His eyes darkened. โ€œS+ร—yโ€ฆ for my eyes only. And Iโ€™ll kill anyone who dares look at you.โ€

Bluey laughed softly, rolling her eyes. โ€œYouโ€™re ridiculous.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m serious,โ€ he said, stepping closer, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. โ€œThey shouldnโ€™t even breathe around you.โ€

โ€œI knowโ€ฆ but you canโ€™t control everyone, Hades.โ€Bluey shook her head, hiding her smile.

He didnโ€™t reply, only gave her a sharp look that made her heart skip.

As they entered the park, the sea of people buzzed with excitement. Bluey bounced slightly on her heels, taking in the colors, sounds, and smells.

โ€œThis is amazing!โ€ she exclaimed, grabbing his hand and tugging him forward.

Hades trailed behind, frowning slightly at the chaos, muttering, โ€œThis isโ€ฆ a lot.โ€

Bluey glanced at him, concern softening her expression. โ€œHeyโ€ฆ are you okay? This doesnโ€™t seem like your thing.โ€

He looked down at her, his features softening. โ€œIโ€™ll adjust to anythingโ€ฆ as long as itโ€™s with you.โ€

Bluey squeezed his hand, her excitement bubbling. โ€œGood. Because weโ€™re going to have the best day ever.โ€

Bluey tugged on Hadesโ€™ hand as they approached the rollercoaster.

โ€œCโ€™mon, letโ€™s ride! You have to pay for us, okay?โ€ she said, eyes gleaming with excitement.

Hades stopped dead in his tracks, arms crossed. โ€œNo way. That shitโ€™s dangerous.โ€

โ€œDangerous?โ€ Bluey laughed incredulously. โ€œA rollercoaster? And life in MIA, which is deadlier? Please.โ€

He scowled, stubborn as ever. โ€œIโ€™m not risking you on some spinning death trap. Not happening.โ€

Bluey pouted, stamping her sneaker lightly. โ€œButโ€ฆ I really wanna ride!โ€

They were mid-argument when a group of guys passed by. One of them, eyes wandering, muttered loudly:

โ€œHey, check out that soft looking ass.โ€

Hadesโ€™ head snapped toward him like a predator, dark eyes locking on the offender.

Before the guy could react, he felt his feet leave the ground, a strong force slamming him backward onto the pavement.

โ€œHades!โ€ Bluey gasped, reaching for him, panic rising as she saw the familiar, lethal intent to kill in his eyes with the same look he had when he killed Bryan, maybe even Zayne.

โ€œWhoโ€™s ass you looking at, huh?โ€ Hades growled, his voice low and dangerous.

โ€œBroโ€ฆ chill! I-Iโ€™m sorry! Didnโ€™t mean toโ€”uh, offend you or your girlfriend!โ€ the guy stammered, trying to scramble up.

Bluey grabbed Hadesโ€™ arm, pressing herself against him. โ€œHades, calm down! Control yourself, please! Donโ€™t…you canโ€™t justโ€”ugh!โ€

Hadesโ€™ chest heaved, eyes still blazing, but he finally looked down at her, the murderous edge softening slightly.

Bluey shook her head, exasperated but relieved. โ€œYouโ€™re insane, you know that?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m being protective. I don’t like sharing.โ€ he muttered, finally releasing the guy with a hard shove toward the ground. โ€œAnyone who looks at youโ€ฆ pays the price.โ€

Bluey rolled her eyes, tugging him toward the ride. โ€œLetโ€™s just survive the rollercoaster first, okay? Youโ€™re scary enough already.โ€

Hades glanced at the spinning ride, then back at her, his expression softening slightly.

Bluey grinned, looping her arm through his as they headed toward the ticket counter, the chaos of the park swirling around them, oblivious to the storm Hades had just left behind.

Bluey and Hades buckled their safety harnesses onto the rollercoaster. Blueyโ€™s eyes sparkled with excitement, bouncing in her seat.

โ€œI canโ€™t wait! This is going to be amazing!โ€ she squealed.

Hades, sitting beside her, glanced at her face, at that wide, radiant smile. Just like the first time they met, he felt it againโ€”his chest tightening, heart hammering.

He couldnโ€™t imagine meaning in his life without her.

๐Ÿ”Š โ€œLadies and gentlemen, the rollercoaster is ready to depart! Hold on tight!โ€

The ride jolted forward, and the track began to twist and turn. Bluey threw her hands in the air, shrieking with laughter.

โ€œWheeeeee! This is incredible!โ€

Hades, however, wasnโ€™t having the same fun. The spinning, the sudden dropsโ€”it was chaos to him.

โ€œThisโ€ฆ isโ€ฆ hell! Let me out!!โ€ he roared, gripping the safety bar tightly.

Bluey laughed so hard she could barely hold on.

โ€œHades! Youโ€™re screaming like a little baby!โ€ she shouted, wind whipping through her hair.

The ride twisted and turned, flipping upside down. Blueyโ€™s laughter only grew, and Hadesโ€™ eyes, though wide with terror, kept darting to her, his irritation melting into reluctant amusement.

โ€œMommy!!โ€Hades screamed in horror.

Finally, the ride screeched to a halt, and the harnesses unlocked. Bluey tumbled out of the seat and collapsed onto the floor, still giggling uncontrollably.

โ€œEveryone has to see their supposed king of MIA crying because of a rollercoaster ride!โ€ she laughed, clutching her stomach.

Hades shook his head, trying to look imposing.

โ€œItโ€™sโ€ฆ the wind,โ€ he muttered, though his flushed face and wide eyes betrayed him.

Bluey rolled her eyes, still laughing. โ€œSure, the wind, your majesty.โ€

He growled softly, brushing past her as they stood. โ€œLetโ€™s go. Iโ€™m hungry. Time to eat.โ€

Bluey grinned, hopping to her feet. โ€œFine, but you owe me a rematch. Next ride, I pick!โ€

Hades groaned, already plotting revenge. โ€œYouโ€™re insane.โ€

They walked into the bustling mall, lights reflecting off the polished floors, the smell of fresh food wafting through the air.

Hades glanced at Bluey, who was already scanning the food section with excitement.

โ€œGo ahead and order something,โ€ he said, his voice low. โ€œIโ€™ll be right there.โ€

Bluey gave him a playful grin. โ€œDonโ€™t take too long, okay?โ€ She left, weaving through the crowd, leaving him alone for a moment.

Hades walked with long, deliberate strides toward the jewelry store, his mind oddly focused.

He stopped at the glass display, staring at the rings, fingers tapping lightly on the counter.

โ€œSir, are you looking for jewelry for your special someone?โ€ a cheerful sales lady asked, appearing beside him.

Hades cleared his throat. โ€œUm, can I look at the rings?โ€

โ€œOf course. Are you planning to give it as a gift?โ€ she asked, smiling.

Hades hesitated, his gaze fixed on a set of simple, elegant bands. โ€œIโ€ฆ I plan onโ€ฆโ€

โ€œPropose?โ€ she cut in with a teasing giggle.

He froze for a second, then nodded. โ€œHonestlyโ€ฆ I donโ€™t even know yet. Iโ€ฆ yes. I plan on proposing to her. But not yet.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s so sweet,โ€ she said, leaning slightly closer.

Hades straightened, tilting his head slightly. โ€œWhat jewelry company is your supplier?โ€

She told him the name, and his eyes narrowed slightly, thoughtful. โ€œIโ€™d like to make a custom engagement ringโ€ฆ for my girl.โ€

Her eyes lit up. โ€œOh! Come inside, sir. We can talk about the design, the size, all the details.โ€

Hades followed her, his mind racing. This wasโ€ฆ for her. For Bluey. He wasnโ€™t sure how sheโ€™d react, but he knew one thingโ€”when it happened, he wanted it to be perfect.

Hades walked back through the crowd, his hands tucked in his pockets, and found Bluey already seated at a small table, happily eating.

โ€œWhat took you so long?โ€ she asked, glancing up.

โ€œI just had to check on something,โ€ he said simply.

She nodded and returned to her food. Hades pulled out a chair and sat down across from her, starting to eat but unable to tear his eyes away from her.

Then, out of nowhere, he asked softly, โ€œWill you marry me?โ€

Bluey nearly choked on her bite, coughing and spluttering. Hades quickly grabbed her water glass, holding it to her lips.

โ€œSorry,โ€ He said, calm and steady.

โ€œWhatโ€™sโ€ฆ with that question? I was caught off guard,โ€ she said, wiping her mouth.

โ€œIโ€™m justโ€ฆ asking ifโ€ฆ youโ€™d say yes if I were to propose to you,โ€ he murmured, his eyes fixed on hers.

Bluey shook her head with a small, teasing smile. โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œNo?โ€ he repeated, eyebrows raised.

โ€œIf you were to propose right now, no. Youโ€™re still so immature,โ€ she said, a playful smirk tugging at her lips.

โ€œNotโ€ฆ right now. In the future,โ€ he said, a little softer.

โ€œYou already know the answer to that,โ€ she said, reaching across the table and lightly touching his hand.

Hades smiled faintly, a rare, genuine curve on his lips, his gaze lingering on hers.

<AN HOUR LATER>

An hour later, Hades was driving down the lonely highway that led back to MIA. The streetlights flickered overhead, casting long shadows across the road.

He slowed down and eventually pulled the car to the side, the quiet hum of the engine fading into silence.

Without a word, he opened the roof of the car, letting the night air wash over them, and climbed onto the edge of the car, sitting on one side. Bluey followed suit, perching beside him.

โ€œCan we stay here for a while? Before going back?โ€ Hades asked, his voice low.

โ€œSure,โ€ she said softly, leaning slightly closer.

He stared out at the dark horizon for a moment, then let his words tumble out. โ€œYou knowโ€ฆ I never in my wildest dreams imagined that Iโ€™d fall in love.โ€

Bluey turned to look at him. โ€œFell for me?โ€

Hades met her gaze, his eyes serious and steady. โ€œI fell so deeplyโ€ฆ more than I thought I could ever feel. And it scares me sometimes, how much I need you.โ€

She smiled, a small blush creeping up her cheeks. โ€œYou knowโ€ฆ youโ€™re my first too. I wasnโ€™t really into relationships before. At first, I was scared of youโ€ฆ but then I got used to you. And honestlyโ€ฆ I fell more for your brutal nature than anything else.โ€

Hadesโ€™ lips curved into a faint, dark smile. He reached for her hand, entwining his fingers with hers, holding it tightly as if anchoring himself to her.

Bluey leaned into him slightly, feeling the warmth of his body beside hers. Hades slowly turned toward her, his eyes locking onto hers, and lowered his head.

Their lips met in a tender, lingering kiss, soft at first, then deeper as the quiet night enveloped them.

โ€œI donโ€™t want this moment to end,โ€ he whispered.

โ€œNeither do I,โ€ she replied, smiling into the kiss, letting the night hold them in their own world.

Hades deepened the kiss, his lips pressing tenderly against Bluey’s as his hand slid inside her crop top, slowly and reverently exploring upward.

The warmth of his touch sent a shiver down her spine, and a soft moan escaped her lips, lost in the intimacy of the moment.

When his hand found its way to cup her boobs softly, his grip was both firm and gentle, a silent promise of care and passion.

Breaking the kiss, Bluey looked up at him, her breath slightly caught.

“Right here, Hades?” she whispered, a mix of curiosity and desire in her voice.

He smiled softly, his eyes locking with hers in a quiet understanding.

Anthony and Corazon were waiting in the head nurseโ€™s office, sitting tensely. The room smelled faintly of antiseptic, but their anxiety overpowered everything else.

The door opened, and a nurse walked in, followed by an elderly woman.

โ€œNurse Perla.โ€ Corazon stood quickly and hugged the older woman tightly.

Perla smiled warmly, holding her hands. โ€œMadam Sinclair, itโ€™s been ages. How are you? Howโ€™s Morgan doing? Iโ€™m sure sheโ€™s a fine young lady now.โ€

โ€œActually, Nurse, Iโ€™m here for Morgan,โ€ Corazon said, her voice tight.

โ€œMorgan? What happened?โ€ Perla asked, concern immediately flashing across her face.

โ€œMorgan got into a critical accidentโ€ฆ she lost a lot of blood,โ€ Anthony said, his voice low but urgent.

โ€œOh my goodnessโ€ฆ is she okay?โ€ Perla gasped, placing a hand over her heart.

โ€œYes. But thereโ€™s somethingโ€ฆ strange,โ€ Corazon continued, her voice shaking. โ€œThe hospital said I couldnโ€™t donate blood for her becauseโ€ฆ sheโ€™s not my daughter. Our blood doesnโ€™t match.โ€

Perlaโ€™s face fell, her brow furrowing deeply. โ€œThatโ€ฆ thatโ€™s impossible,โ€ she whispered.

โ€œI delivered that baby with my own hands. I remember every momentโ€”the first cry, the tiny fingers wrapped around yours. Thereโ€™s no way your blood wouldnโ€™t match. Somethingโ€ฆ something doesnโ€™t add up.โ€

Anthonyโ€™s hand tightened into a fist on his lap. โ€œI knowโ€ฆ I know. Thatโ€™s what I thought too. But the hospital says the DNA test proves sheโ€™s not ours. That sheโ€™sโ€ฆ someone elseโ€™s daughter.โ€

Perla stepped closer, resting a comforting hand on Corazonโ€™s shoulder.

โ€œMadam Sinclairโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve seen many things in my years, but I can tell you this: you gave birth to her. Whatever this test says, whatever papers the doctors show, that doesnโ€™t erase the child you created that day..โ€

Corazonโ€™s eyes welled up. โ€œIt doesnโ€™t make senseโ€ฆ it just doesnโ€™t make senseโ€ฆโ€

โ€œCould there have been a mix-up somewhere?โ€ Perla asked quietly, her brows knitting together.

โ€œWhat mixโ€‘up?โ€ Corazon snapped, confusion and fear twisting her voice.

โ€œI remember back thenโ€ฆ there were only two babies in the infant room where your daughter was kept.โ€

โ€œTwo?โ€ Anthonyโ€™s voice hardened.

โ€œYes. Baby Sinclair, that’s your daughter, Morgan and a certain Baby Cruise. Her parents hadnโ€™t named her at that time,โ€ Perla explained.

โ€œCruise?โ€ Corazon whispered. โ€œDo you know her parentsโ€™ names?โ€

Perla squinted, thinking. โ€œCanโ€™t seem to rememberโ€ฆ but I do recall her father coming back to the hospital about a week later. He was asking about the other babyโ€™s parents. I told him they were Gael and Corazon Sinclairโ€ฆโ€

Perla snapped her fingers softly. โ€œI think the manโ€™s name wasโ€ฆ umโ€ฆ Banjo. Banjo Cruise.โ€

Corazon stumbled back as if the ground had tilted beneath her.

โ€œNoโ€ฆ noโ€ฆโ€ her voice cracked, trembling. โ€œThat thingโ€ฆ that Bluey canโ€™t be my daughter!!!โ€

She turned and stormed out of the office, heart pounding, tears spilling uncontrollably.

โ€œCorazon!โ€ Anthony called out. He shot Perla a tight, strained look. โ€œThanks a lot, Nurse Perla.โ€

He hurried after her.

โ€œCorazon, waitโ€”โ€ He caught her wrist and gently turned her around.

Her face was already streaked with tears, her breath shaky and broken.

โ€œCorazon…โ€

โ€œIโ€™d rather die, Anthonyโ€ฆโ€ she sobbed, voice quivering.

โ€œIโ€™d rather drown in my delusions and dieโ€ฆ than believe that sheโ€™s my daughterโ€ฆโ€
