    ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

Shawn sat beside Sofia on the bed, his eyes filled with concern as he gazed at her pale face. She was still unconscious, but the doctor had assured him that she would be fine. The examination had revealed that she was suffering from malnutrition, and he ordered that she be fed some food as soon as she woke up.

Shawn held her hand tenderly, his fingers intertwined with hers. He waited impatiently for her to wake up, his eyes fixed on her face. Just then, Sofia began to regain consciousness, her head moving slightly as she tried to open her eyes.

“Sofia,” he called, his voice soft and gentle.

Sofia’s eyes fluttered open, and she met Shawn’s gaze. Her voice was weak, but her eyes sparkled with recognition. “Shawn?”

His face broke into a warm smile. “You’re finally awake,” he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Her face lit up with a weak smile, and she rushed into Shawn’s arms, holding him tightly. Shawn wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as she sobbed.

“Tell me I’m not dreaming right now,” She said, her voice muffled against Shawn’s chest.

His expression turned serious, and he pulled away from Sofia, his hands cradling her face. “You’re not,” he said, his eyes locked onto hers. Her eyes welled up with tears, and she sniffed. “You’re back home,” his voice soft.

Her face contorted in a mixture of sadness and relief. “Really?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

. “Yes,” he said nodding, his expression solemn, and Sofia’s face crumpled as she sobbed. He pulled her into a warm hug, holding her close as she cried.

“I thought I’d never see you again,” She said, her voice muffled against Shawn’s chest.

“It’s okay, I’m here,” he said, his voice soft, stroking her hair.

She pulled away from him, her eyes red-rimmed from crying. “What took you so long to come get me?” she asked, her voice laced with concern. “I was scared that you abandoned me in the hands of that monster.”

He smiled, and he took Her hands in his. “You know I’d never abandon you,” he said, his voice firm. “I was looking for evidence to prove him wrong. He lied to get you, but luckily, justice has been served, and he won’t bother you again.”

“Does this mean I’m free from him?”She asked as her face lit up with a weak smile.

“Yes, he’ll be spending years in jail,” he nod, and Her face contorted in a mixture of relief and sadness.

She hugged him warmly, her eyes welling up with tears. “Thank you, Shawn,” she said, her voice muffled against his chest. “Thank you for coming for me.”

They were in each other’s arms for a while until She spoke, her voice weak but determined. “Shawn.”

  “Mm.”

Her face turned slightly pale, her eyes sunken. “I am hungry.”

Shawn’s expression turned concerned, his brow furrowed. “You are hungry?” he asked and She nodded, her eyes pleading. Shawn’s face softened, and he said, “Ok, I will come get them to get you your food.” He left the room, and a few seconds later, one of the workers entered with a tray of food.

Her face lit up with a weak smile as she took the tray from the worker and placed it on her lap. Before Shawn or the worker knew what was happening, She started devouring the food like a hungry lion. Shawn and the worker stared surprisedly at her, and the worker left the room.

He sat down on the couch, watching her with a mixture of concern and amusement. Within a minute, she had emptied the entire tray of food. “I need more,” she said, her voice still weak but determined.

his eyebrows raised with surprised. “You need more?” he asked, his voice laced with incredulity.

She nodded, her eyes pleading. Shawn nodded, and soon another meal was brought to her. She couldn’t wait before she started eating again. “Easy, Sofia, you don’t want to get choked,” He said, his voice laced with concern.

But Sofia continued devouring the food, her expression determined. After she was done, she requested more, and another tray of food was brought to her.

Shawn’s look turned puzzled, his brow furrowed. “What happened with you in that house? Did you starve yourself?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.

She rolled her head, drank from her water, and sighed. “It was hell in there. I was starved for three days and made to work all the house chores in the house,” she said, her voice laced with sadness.

“What?” he asked, his voice laced with incredulity.

“Yes, I couldn’t think I would last another day in that house if you hadn’t come for me,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

After some seconds, She was done eating, and she was heavily full. Shawn’s expression turned amused, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Do you want more?” he asked, his voice laced with teasing.

Sofia’s face turned slightly pale, her eyes sunken. “No, I am ok now,” she said, her voice weak but determined. Shawn sighed, his expression turning relieved.

Some minutes later, Shawn came down from his room, his expression tired. He saw Sofia laying down on the floor with her hands and legs spread open, and he sighed wearily. He stood in front of her, his eyes fixed on her.

“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement.

Sofia looked up at him, her face pale. “I overate, so I am trying to balance my diet,” she said, her voice weak.

He sighed tiredly at her. “Were they shoving the meal into your mouth forcefully?” he asked, his voice laced with teasing.

Her face contorted in defense. “Don’t blame me. If you were in my shoes, I don’t think you can make it alive for two days,” she said, her voice laced with emotion.

Shawn’s expression turned dismissive, and he scoffed. He left for his room and then came back, holding a peppermint. “Here, take this,” he said, pointing the peppermint at her.

Sofia sat upright, her eyes fixed on the peppermint. She took it from him and shoved it into her mouth. “What does it do?” she asked, her voice muffled.

“It helps with digestion,” he said, and sat down on the couch with his legs crossed. He started operating his phone, his eyes fixed on the screen.

Sofia moved closer to him, giving him puppy eyes. Shawn looked up from his phone, his eyes questioning. “What’s with that look?” he asked, his voice laced with amusement.

“You know…” she started, but got interrupted from behind.

“Sofia?” Rachel called, her voice laced with surprise. Sofia turned to her, forcing a smile onto her face. She rushed to sit down on the couch beside Shawn, her eyes wide with curiosity. “You’re here? What happened? How did you manage to come back?” she asked, her questions tumbling out in rapid succession.

Sofia’s smile faltered for a moment before she replied, “Shawn helped me out.”

Rachel’s eyes turned skeptical, her eyebrows raised. “Really?” she asked, her voice laced with doubt. Sofia’s forced smile returned. “That’s good, I was worried about you,” She said, her voice insincere.

Sofia stood up to leave, her expression relieved. “I’ll leave first,” she said, turning to walk away.

But Shawn called her back, “Where are you going?” he asked.

Sofia turned back to him, her look hesitant. “To my room.”

His eyes narrowed. “You wanted to ask me something, what’s it?” he asked, his voice gentle.

She looks evasive. “It’s nothing, I forgot about it. When I remember, I’ll let you know,” she quickly left the room.

Shawn stared after her, his expression thoughtful. Rachel turned to him, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “How did you manage to bring her back?” she asked, her voice laced with false concern.

“I just happened to find out everything was all fake,” he said, and stood up to leave.

She was surprised, but her eyes betrayed a hint of anger. “What?” she asked, her voice laced with false shock.

Shawn nodded. “Yeah.” He walked away, leaving Rachel behind.

As soon as Shawn was out of earshot, Rachel’s expression turned angry. “This is not good,” she muttered to herself. “I thought she’d be gone for good, and now she’s back here again.” Her eyes narrowed, her mind working overtime with schemes and plots.
