The lady's expression turned flirtatious, her eyes sparkling with seduction, as she moved to hug Shawn. But Shawn's expression turned angry, his eyes narrowing slightly, as he pushed her away. "What are you doing here?" he said, his voice laced with anger.
Violet, who was climbing the staircase to her room, stopped and turned to see the angry look on Shawn's face. Her expression turned curious, her eyes widening slightly, as she watched the scene unfold.
The lady's expression turned smiling, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I came to see you and I have missed you a lot," she said, her voice laced with flirtation.
Shawn's expression turned disapproving, his eyebrows furrowing slightly. "How did you know where I live?" he asked, his voice firm.
The lady's expression turned sheepish, her eyes avoiding Shawn's gaze. "You left your card at the hotel that day and I happened to find out," she said, her voice laced with apology.
Shawn's expression turned menacing, his eyes narrowing slightly, as he grabbed the lady's hand tightly. The lady's expression turned surprised, her eyes widening in fear, and Violet's expression turned shocked, her eyes widening in alarm.
"Now listen to me, you got thirty seconds to leave this place, if I ever see you here again, I won't think twice to send you back to your marker," Shawn threatened, his voice laced with menace, before letting go of the lady's hand.
The lady's expression turned panicked, her eyes wide with fear, as she quickly ran out of the house. Shawn's expression turned calm, his eyes returning to normal, as he turned to leave for his room.
As he walked past Violet, she shrugged her shoulders, her expression still curious, before turning to go to her room.
Back to school, Violet walked into the canteen, to see Mabel humming a tune, and she joined Mabel, who was eating.
Violet's expression turned curious, her eyes sparkling with interest. "Does this meal taste nicer like the one you are eating before, you look happy why eating it," Violet said, and sat down, taking a bite from her apple.
Mabel's expression turned happy, her eyes sparkling with delight. "I am just happy and it's not about the meal," she said, and Violet's expression turned inquiring, her eyebrows raising slightly.
"So, what's it about?" Violet asked, and Mabel's expression turned excited, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
"Well, I am just happy that my step-sister is getting married soon," Mabel said, and Violet's expression turned surprised, her eyes widening in amusement.
"Really? Wow, congratulations, who's the lucky guy?" Violet asked, and Mabel's expression turned confused, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.
"You don't know who the guy is?" Mabel asked, and Violet's expression turned equally confused, her eyes narrowing slightly.
"No, am I supposed to?" Violet asked, and they stared at each other, both looking confused.
Some hours later, Violet arrived home and met Shawn coming down from the staircase, engrossed in a phone call. Violet's expression turned frowning, her eyes narrowing slightly, as she stood in front of him with her arms folded.
"Why didn't you tell me you were getting married?" she said, frowning, and Shawn's expression turned surprised, his eyebrows raising slightly, as he hung up the phone and faced Violet.
"Let me call you back," Shawn said into the phone before hanging up. He then turned to Violet. "Who's getting married?" he asked, his expression calm, and Violet's expression turned indignant, her eyes flashing with anger.
"You! I deserve to know that you are getting engaged to Mabel's step-sister, why do you have to hide it from me, I am still living in this house and I deserve to know what's going on," she said, blabbing away, and Shawn stood staring at her, his expression unreadable.
"Are you done talking?" Shawn asked, his expression impatient, his eyes narrowing slightly. Violet became quiet, her expression turning sheepish, but only for a moment. Shawn's expression turned questioning, his eyebrows raising slightly. "Why? Are you angry that I am getting married?" he asked.
Violet's expression turned mocking, her eyes rolling. She scoffed and then faced him. "Why will I be angry, you are old enough to get married and have kids of your own, maybe that will ease your cold-hearted behavior, you are not getting younger, your age mates are married with five kids already, sometimes I thought you were being manipulated by your grumpy attitude, that's why ladies ran away from you because you scared them like a cat, just like the other lady from the other day, you chased her away and I bet you that innocent beautiful lady will wish never to cross paths with you again," she said, avoiding his cold gaze.
Shawn's expression turned offended, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Are you insulting me?" he asked.
Violet's expression turned innocent, her eyes wide. "No, why will I? I'm just stating the obvious," she said, and then moved closer to him with a wide smile. "So, you are really getting married to her?" she asked excitedly. "Good, I am super happy for you, so tell me how did you two meet? Was it at the family dinner or you guys met before the family dinner?" she asked, her expression curious.
Shawn's expression turned annoyed, his eyes flashing with anger, as he pushed her aside and climbed down the stairs. Violet ran after him, her expression still curious. "Just tell me, I want to know, I know you are not good at wooing a lady because you have never brought anyone home, how did she tolerate your grumpy behavior? What prompted her into accepting to be your fiancée?" she asked.
Shawn's expression turned tired, his eyes sighing. "If you don't stop asking me these silly questions, I will do something to you that you won't like," he warned.
Violet's expression turned teasing, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Again with this your cold-hearted attitude, are you sure you didn't manipulate her into accepting to marry you? You are no romantic at all...or is it because you are old and I don't..."
Shawn's expression turned furious, his eyes blazing with anger. "Sofia!" he called, getting pissed off with her too much talking.
"Fine! I will stop talking now," Violet said, her expression turning sulky, her eyes avoiding Shawn's gaze.
They went quiet for a while, and then Violet spoke again, her expression turning cautious, her eyes darting to Shawn's face. "Can I...," she paused, seeing the hard look on his face. "Fine, fine, fine, am not gonna ask again, but just so you know, I gave you my blessings, I know she will make a perfect wife for you and the one that can tolerate your grumpy attitude," she said, her expression turning sarcastic, her eyes rolling. She left for her room, leaving Shawn staring after her, his expression tired, his eyes sighing.
MARK MANSION
The whole family was eating at the dining table, including their mother, Mrs. Ruth, who had just returned from a few months' trip to the State.
Rachel's expression turned happy, her eyes sparkling with delight. "Finally, Mom, you are home," she said.
Mrs. Ruth's expression turned warm, her eyes smiling. "Yeah, your aunt refused to let me go," she said.
V's expression turned mock-offended, his eyes teasing. "And you missed my birthday party," he said, feigning a frown.
Mrs. Ruth's expression turned apologetic, her eyes regretful. "Sorry, dear, I promise to make it up to you," she said, and they smiled at each other.
Mabel's expression turned excited, her eyes sparkling. "Mom, did you get me something?" she asked.
Mrs. Ruth's expression turned smiling, her eyes twinkling. "Sure, I will never miss that in the whole world," she said.
Mr. Mark's expression turned welcoming, his eyes warm. "Is good to have you back with us," he said.
Mabel's expression turned mischievous, her eyes sparkling. "So, Mom, do you know your precious daughter is getting married soon," she said, and Mrs. Ruth nodded, her expression turning proud.
"Yes, your father told me, I am so proud of you," she said, and Rachel's expression turned happy, her eyes sparkling.
V's expression turned skeptical, his eyes narrowing. "Why are you so excited, we haven't heard from Shawn if he agrees to go ahead with the marriage things, it's been days now," he said.
Mr. Mark's expression turned confident, his eyes sparkling. "That's not a problem, I will pay him a visit at his office tomorrow," he said.
Mrs. Ruth's expression turned reassuring, her eyes warm. "That's good, don't worry, dear, he is going to be yours," she said.
Rachel's expression turned grateful, her eyes sparkling. "Thank you, Mom, now that you are here, I am sure you will pave the way for that," she said.
V's expression turned concerned, his eyes narrowing. "Sometimes I wonder why you're so eager to marry him, don't you know how dangerous he is and what type of things he is into," he said.
Mabel's expression turned agreeing, her eyes nodding. "I think he isn't that bad," she said, and they agreed, and V sighed tiredly at them.
