KASARACHI

Kasarachi - Episode 31

(Tell it to God)

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

I was expelled from school and asked not to ever step my feet into the premises again so as not to corrupt the other students.

That was the verdict from Mr. Henry who is the head of the disciplinary committee. According to him, it is my punishment for violating the school rules and regulations.

The members of the committee including Mrs Sonia and Mrs Katarina nodded their heads in agreement to Mr. Henry's verdict.

If not for Mrs Sharon's husband who used his influence and social status as a financial investor in the school to help me, my certificate would have been withheld too.

I broke down for the whole of that week after I got back home with Mrs Sharon.

I felt awful about how I was shamed by the committee and how my name went viral in school for the wrong reasons.

My name was practically in the lips of all the students and I was tagged on our school website as the girl who was expelled for misconduct.
My only saving grace is that the exact misconduct I committed was kept private by the committee, hence nobody in the school knows of it beside them.

I was seriously depressed and couldn't get myself to carry out my house chores.
It is a good thing that Mrs Sharon understands how I feel and so she didn't try to force me to do anything aside to eat.

Mrs Sharon was compassionate towards me and tried to comfort me severally. She was always checking up on me every now and then to ensure that I didn't hurt myself.

I stopped crying after a few days but my mental and psychological health was terribly messed up.

I suffered a series of anxiety attacks anytime the memories skipped into my mind. There were days in which I couldn't sleep well and for most days I found it hard to sleep at all (insomnia).

The following week, on a Friday morning, I was done with my chores earlier than usual. So I had enough time to rest before noon when the children will be back from their secondary school for their lunch.

I sat down on my bed getting ready to read a novel and subconsciously my mind began reminiscing on what happened to me.

I was feeling very sad that I couldn't help grieving and overthinking a lot of things!

What is making my overthinking and sadness worse is the fact that today is actually my graduation day in school.

Mrs Sharon is the one who is obtaining my certificate from the school on my behalf. Since I was banned from ever stepping my feet in the premises, she has to get it for me.

My emotions were tickled yet again and I cried all through the morning because I never foresaw this kind of thing coming.

If I was told before today that someone else would need to represent me and get my certificate on my behalf when I'm still alive and hearty, I wouldn't have believed it!

And to imagine that I had actually prepared a beautiful pink flowing gown ahead of time for this particular day. Yet on this d-day I can't even view it, let alone to attend it.

It hurts badly!

Others may not fully understand the raw pain I feel deep inside of me because I am the one who is wearing the shoes and knows exactly how it stinks.

Oh, my reputation is ruined forever in that school and in the minds of the committee!

I constantly keep wondering what would have become of me if Mrs Sharon's husband wasn't influential in the school.
So that means that my certificate would have also been forfeited because of a misconduct I didn't engage in....?

Is that how my four years in school would have gone in vain just like that....?

I can still vividly remember the faces of everyone present that day. Nobody was willing to believe that I wasn't guilty no matter how loud I screamed my innocence.

My only consolation and relief is that Mrs Sharon didn't believe any of those false allegations against me.

That day in the office, she even had to speak out about my good behavior and principles as my guardian. But since it was her words against the evidences, it was tossed aside.

The verdict was still passed anyways and I swear that I could see the subtle smile of victory on Halima's face. That woman is a d£vil and my God will expose her for me.

It was a few days after that day that I summoned the courage to ask Mrs Sharon her reasons for not believing that I was guilty, despite all the evidences which portrayed otherwise.

Mrs Sharon answered me saying she was initially shocked when she saw that I was the one being shown on the screen but soon after that, she got over the shock.

She didn't know what was happening and how it came about, but she knew one thing for sure, that it is my face and body shape but certainly not me in person!

Mrs Sharon said that having lived with and known me for years, she could differentiate between what I can do and what I cannot do, so she wasn't swayed by the accusations.

She knows that my moral principles wouldn't let me do what I was being accused of, especially when I am aware of what the consequences are if I am caught.

She further said that if truly I was wayward and attracted to older married men, then I would have first started with her husband who is an older man, handsome, and wealthy than the salary-earning lecturers.

Her points were all valid and after that discussion, I had to thank God over again for the gift of her in my life.

It was Mrs Sharon's voice that brought me out of my reverie.

I looked up to see her standing inside my room holding the door knob. I must have been so lost in thoughts that I didn't hear her open my bedroom door to come in.

I know that I won't be able to lie my way out now because she definitely caught me in the act of crying and overthinking.
She would probably assume that despite her constant advice for me to take it easy on myself, that I am doing the exact opposite when I'm alone which of course is the truth.

I simply cleaned my tears with my palms and composed myself properly on the bed in preparation for the queries that I'm aware would come next. I wasn't wrong!

"Kasarachi don't tell me you are still crying and thinking about last week's incident....? Common darling cheer up already....it's really not the end of the world" Mrs Sharon said whilst walking towards me on the bed.

She reached my bed and sat down beside me with her hands now soothingly placed on my shoulders.

"Good afternoon Sis Sharon. I see you are back. How was the occasion....?" I asked while feigning a smile but Mrs Sharon wasn't buying the facade I was putting on

"Please quit with the mirage Kasarachi. It's me Sharon....and you already know that I don't mind you being vulnerable with me. It only shows that you are human and definitely in touch with your emotions" Mrs Sharon said calmly and that's when I broke down in tears for the second time that day

I cried heavily on Mrs Sharon's shoulder and she kept patting me gently, while whispering kind words into my ears until I felt better and stopped crying on my own.

Mrs Sharon later gave me my hardcopy certificate which she collected and implored me to keep it safe. She said that the soft copy has been updated on the student's private website for those who might need it.

She went on to tell me in detail how the graduation event of today went and it actually helped to brighten my sour mood.

Then she advised me to try relaxing my mind and forget about what happened since I am already done with the school. She also promised to get to the root of everything with time using the help of her husband.

I smiled genuinely as I listened to her advice and kind words. Afterwards, I dusted myself up from feeling depressed and downtrodden over what happened to me.

It wasn't easy for me but I put in so much effort to make myself happy and forget about the accusations, embarrassments, and ill words those women threw at me.

Mrs Sharon helped a lot in getting my mind off the ugly experience in so many ways.

Starting from that day, she ensured to make time out of her busy schedules to take me to amusement parks, museums, sightseeing centers, and comedy shows.

So the next two weeks that followed, I felt much better, lighter, and happier. I didn't completely forget the incident but I no longer gave it room to affect me mentally.

Lately for some unknown reason, I have been having weird dreams whenever I sleep at night. I am always being pursued in my dreams and when I wake up, I'll find out that I've been crying in my sleep as well.

I have prayed severally about it and I even shared it with Mrs Sharon who joined me in praying against further bad dreams and the significance of the dreams coming to pass.

Before the end of that week, it was led in my spirit to do something but I couldn't understand why God wanted me to do that.

It was weird but having trained myself to obey him despite the circumstances, I obeyed the instruction led in my heart.

A month passed by with my life moving on fine. I even completely forgot about the dream and the school's unpleasant incident.

Mrs Sharon has been trying to get me a job in one of her contact's companies and she promised to make the procedure easy for me without much stress.

She fulfilled her promise as I was called to come for an interview which is merely a formality and then I would be asked to resume work immediately after that.

I was elated as I prepared ahead for my interview and the new employment. I wouldn't want to disappoint Mrs Sharon by going there and disgracing myself.

Mr Sharon's husband let me in on what interview questions to expect when I got there, and I practiced well in anticipation of the d-day which is two days from today.

On the day of the interview, I don't understand what happened or how I managed to find myself in a police cell.

All I remember is that I was feeling dizzy and staggered as I was able to step out of the sitting room door and Mrs Sharon was asking me out of concern 'if I was okay'.

Her voice became faint probably because I blacked out. That's all I can remember.

I am now surprised to wake up and I'm seeing myself laying on the floor in an enclosed cell instead of a hospital. I don't know how I got here and so I was alarmed!

I began shouting for help thinking I was being k!dnapped.

It was when two officers came to drag me out for what they termed 'questioning' that I understood that I was in a police station.

I entered the interrogation room to see Mr Sharon's husband pacing round the room as though he had been waiting for me to wake up for a while.

Immediately he saw me come in, he angrily rushed at me. If not for the police officers standing by my side who restrained him from violence, he would have slapped me.

I kept wondering what I have done wrong to warrant such a reaction from Mrs Sharon's husband. I mean this is a man who has never for once raised his voice on me, let alone his hands like he wants to do now.

Why is he the one here instead of his wife Mrs Sharon who is always the first to show up whenever I'm in trouble....?

"You criminal! So you are finally awake...? You will never escape here because it is a place where people like your kind belong!" Mr Sharon's husband blurted out angrily

I was confused on hearing that. I was wondering what could have gone so wrong to land me in a station and have him swearing ill luck at me....?

"Why exactly am I here sir....? Where is your wife Mrs Sharon....? And why are you talking and acting this way...? It's really absurd!" I asked feeling so scared

The response from Mrs Sharon's husband shocked me very much. In fact, the weight of his next words and the angry tone he used in talking scared me even more.

"So after everything my wife Sharon has done for you....this is how you had chosen to repay her and our family right...? Well, newsflash....I am going to make sure you rot in jail forever for what you've done to my wife! You will never go scot free Kasarachi....I promise you that!" He said firmly.

With his influence, I know he could easily carry out every single thing he has promised but that wasn't my main focus.

I was alarmed immediately when I heard what he said regarding Mrs Sharon!
Ah! What's wrong with her....? I asked myself now breathing heavily in anxiety.

My eyes bulged out as I tried to process what he was trying to say about Mrs Sharon and me but I still couldn't connect the dots.

I tried to move closer to Mrs Sharon's husband so I could talk at a closer range, but I was held in place by the police officers.

"What are you talking about Sir....? What do you mean by 'this is how I had chosen to repay your wife and her family'...? What happened to Mrs Sharon...? Please talk to me sir!" I shouted aloud in panic

The silence that followed after my questions was deafening, such that I had to pray that this should surely be a bad dream!

But is this truly a bad dream or is this now my new reality....?
