DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL
Daddy's Little Girl - Episode 25
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
As we gathered around the table, I said a prayer over the food as we began to eat
Praying over our meal is a new thing that wasn't in practice before now
I introduced it and my family welcomed the idea
It has gradually become part of us that anyday I'm not on the table with them, my wife or Jonah will say the prayer.
Prayer has become part of me and that of my family
It bonds us together and unites our hearts as one family.
God was my only source of strength during the hard time
I don't know what I could've done or what will become of me and my family if not for the help of God.
It's been four months already that I brought Marvel home
Our lives are gradually getting back to normal.
Healing is taking place generally in our home and I like how it feels to be home these days.
My life for instance has taking a renewed turn
My company called me back to work last month.
They apologised for dismissing me the way they did
Given the excuse that I wasn't contributing positively to the company's growth.
They said my predicament took over my mind and I was no longer giving my hundred percent to my job and if they keep it that way and continue accommodating my excesses that they will suffer great loss.
Which was why they made the tough decision to get a replacement but my replacement wasn't doing so well like I used to.
Recently, they were told that my daughter have been found
They're happy for me and also want me to return back to work and take my rightful seat with an additional payment.
I was thrilled, I didn't even think twice before jumping at the offer.
I know their judgement was unfair but I no longer dwell in the past because back there hürt so bad.
I'm focused on building my life and family.
I'm yet to get back the money I paid to spanner the scâmmérs.
The bank kept telling me that it will take a little time because the spanner guy locked his account and they are trying to unlock it.
They asked me to be patient and give them time
And that's exactly what I have been doing but it's already four months yet no positive response.
I try talking to Edna about what happened but she doesn't listen or discuss anything with me but she's always present whenever it comes to the kids generally
It was Jonah that explained to her what happened and she never bothered to ask me
All this while, Edna has been handling all the financial aspects of the family.
She does it freely without grudge.
I wonder what I would've done without Edna in my life.
I know she will forgive me someday, I just pray it's soon because it's unbearable and a torture living like an enemy with my wife.
Rosemary had requested for Marvel to come visiting more often for her daughter's sake
She initially wanted Melissa, her daughter to come with us and stay for some time,
I couldn't say no, Marvel would've been dëâd by the roadside if Rosemary haven't stopped that day.
She saved my little girl's life, having her daughter over is the least I can do for her.
But along the line she changed her mind and said I should go with Marvel first
Then later, Melissa can come visiting.
And that has been the routine for over four months.
Marvel was over at their place two weeks ago and when I went to pick her up, Melissa followed.
Zena has been trying to get along with Marvel, she asked Marvel to forgive her and ever since Marvel returned Zena working so hard to be the sister that Marvel always wanted but Marvel is acting cold towards Zena
Marvel now has a new best friend whom she acknowledge as a sister.
Zena fears that Melissa was taking her place in Marvel's Life
She should blame herself for that, when Marvel needed her most she wasn't there for her.
When Marvel did everything possible just for Zena to acknowledge her existence instead Zena denied her and lied to her friends that Marvel wasn't her sister but we adopted her out of pity because of her condition.
She hâtes it when anyone refers to Marvel as her sister back then
Her Mom did all she could in correcting her severally but Zena still refused to acknowledge Marvel as her little sister.
I know I contributed to that.
I spoilt Zena way too much and by the time I realised, it was already late.
Jonah on the other hand was a sweet big brother who cherished Marvel so much.
Although Zena has repented and knows better now but Marvel needs time to heal properly from everything
At her little age she has suffered way too much chaos.
I'm super lucky that she holds no fault on my head but loves me regardless.
Her returning home has brought back the spark and peace to my home and to my life
My Mom came rushing down immediately she heard Marvel was found and home finally after a long search.
She seems like the most happiest person when she arrived and saw Marvel.
She hugged Edna who held onto her and wept like a child
Edna was overwhelmed having her Marvel back.
My Mom was over excited.
I just watched them laughing, talking, embracing and shedding tears of joy.
It's fulfilling to watch.
My Mom asked me to do better, to be the loving father to Marvel and a perfect husband to Edna.
I promised her that I won't fail again in any of my responsibilities.
She stayed a week with us and even get to meet Marvel's friend Melissa.
She also pleaded with Edna to forgive me and continue being the good wife she has always been.
Other family members and friends visited to meet Marvel
It was a great busy moment
Edna got a live in nanny not just because of Marvel but also for Melissa's sake.
Sitting on the table with my family and staring at their bright faces makes me feel at peace.
My wife recovered so fast and miraculously immediately she set her eyes on Marvel.
I remembered how she rolled on the floor, screaming and thanking God.
I watched in awe, fighting tears that clouded my vision.
Having Marvel back felt too good to be true.
I would've forever live in sadness and regret if Marvel was never found.
Edna held Marvel so tight not willing to let go.
She cried like I haven't seen her do before but it was tears of joy.
Marvel held onto her mother so tight.
I can still remember how Marvel screamed out "Daddy" the first time she saw me.
She cling onto me like her life depends on it.
Holding my little girl in my arms has felt like heaven on earth.
I couldn't hold back my emotions as I went thanking God
Apologising to Marvel and promising to be a better father to her
She seems to believe me, she giggled happily and hugged me so tight.
I know then she has forgiven me
I got back my little girl, my life, my family, my happiness and my job
I will never trade all of these for anything in the world
The relationship with my wife is still a bit shady.
I never knew Edna was this tough and unforgiven.
I don't know this side of her really existed because she used to be too sweet and kind to a fault.
She usually overlooked all my drama and forgives me so fast whenever I offend her
But this new Edna is so hard on me and unforgiven.
She only speaks to me or listen to whatever I have to say only when it concerns the kids
If the kids are not involved in the talk she will never respond.
I have recently went down on my knees apologising and asking her to return back to the master bedroom that we once shared as couple but she state it clearly that she wasn't ready
She needed time
I don't know what other time she need.
I desperately want my Edna back
Marvel was back to us, we're good and together as one family
I'm taking my fatherly role more serious than I ever done
Edna and I have Live like strangers for a year and within this year, I have never stopped pleading for her forgiveness
I don't know why it's hard for her to let go.
We can't continue living like this.
I can't deny the fact that I have initiated feared that she will end the marriage with the way things were going between us. My féár was greater than my faith
I prayed to God to spare my marriage and give Edna heart of forgiveness.
It's a great relieve to know that she didn't trade on that path of ending our thirteen years of marriage
I don't know What would become if Edna had moved on during the storm without looking back.
I'm happy that she's still here, seeing her daily makes me really happy.
I'm still waiting and hoping that God will answer my second prayer which is given Edna a heart to truly forgive.
That late evening as the kids were getting ready for bed
I went to Edna's room.
I have always tried to have a conversation by going to her but she refused giving me audience and would rather ask me to leave.
Today, I have made up my mind no matter how she pushes me I wasn't going to leave.
I feared this will be opening another wound
I'm ready to risk it.
