THE K1LLER'S KNIFE
The K1ller's Knife - Episode 35
Mrs Vivian was the one who pushed the door open and b@rged into the bedroom with three policemen behind her.
I never saw this coming nor did doctor Stanley think she would go that far. We were really shocked seeing her with the officers which means she told me out
" That's the mμrd£rer there officers! His name is Jacob....he k!lled his own father. Arr£st him and take him out of my house before he k!lls my husband and I too" Mrs Vivian blurted out while pointing her middle left finger at me
" Good afternoon sir. My name is officer Bryan from the state police station. We received a complaint from your wife that the young boy you are harboring mμrd€red his father... and you're trying to protect him from the law...is this true...?" One of the policemen asked doctor Stanley after a brief introduction
Doctor Stanley ignored the question and turned his gaze to Mrs Vivian instead. As for me, I simply stood there in silence unable to completely accept the reality of everything going on in my life
" What is this about Vivian...? Have you suddenly gone cr@zy....?" Doctor Stanley shouted at his wife and his facial expression showed how ângry he was
" I'm not cr@zy Stanley. I'm simply protecting my territory from w0lves who want to rμ!n my home!" Mrs Vivian fired back looking at doctor Stanley defiantly. I could tell she was ready for anything that wanted to happen
" I can't believe you are the wife that I married. Where is the kind and loving woman that goes with me to orphanages to donate gifts and pray for the kids there... whilst praying to God to bless us with our own children...?" Doctor Stanley queried wearing a stern look
When he got no response from Mrs Vivian, he asked her a second question
"...Just imagine if Jacob was your biological son Vivian... tell me the truth..would you have done this same thing to him...?"
Mrs Vivian laughed hysterically before responding to doctor Stanley in a tone that wasn't too pleasant
" God forbid it! My son will never be a k!ller. You know why...? Because I would have trained him well and taken very good care of him in such that he will not even think of committing any cr!m£!" Mrs Vivian said defensively and looked at me from head down in d!sgust
I was so embarrassed and wished the ground could open up and shallow me. I felt so insμlted and pâ¡Ï€ed on the inside
" So you are trying to say Jacob wasn't trained properly...? That's an insμlt to his mother who is old enough to be your elder sister or Aunty. Vivian you should understand that life isn't as plain as you think it is...so never say never!" Doctor Stanley ângrÃly blurted out in an attempt to protect my interest.
Honestly, I was no longer comfortable with the direction that the whole conversation was headed.
This matter is escalating more than it is supposed to be and I fé@r for the condition of his marriage after this.
" Oh, spare me all the lectures Stanley. My son would never turned out to be like this w!cked boy here...certainly not under my perfect motherly watch!"
Doctor Stanley chuckled and just when Mrs Vivian thought she had won, he asked her a thought pr0voking question
" Vivian have you thought of a situation in which God forbid something should happen to you and me. In an unavoidable situation like that...what do you think becomes of the child when he is no more under your perfect motherly watch or care but rather in someone else's home...?" Doctor Stanley quizzed with an unsmiling face and it got Mrs Vivian pondering about what he asked
I suppose that these deep words touched her heart as she understood the angle doctor Stanley was coming from.
She understands now that she is simply being judgemental because of the privileges that are available to her.
Not once has she stopped to realize that it isn't the same for another child who had none of such love, care, security, guardian, and provision from a home.
"...now you do understand what I am saying right...? You know what I actually think Vivian...? You will make a really t£rrible mother to our children when we eventually become parents...because a mother is suppose to be a protector and a nurturer to every child. She doesn't just cast the child into the fire...or throw away the dirty water and the child"
The policemen who were already tired of the unnecessary drama had to speak up, startling everyone of us who forgot that they were still there in the room
" Madam did you call us here to watch you f!ght and exchange words with your husband...? Remember you called to inform us that this young boy k!lled his father..? You said you have evidence so... please show us the evidence that backs up your claim" the second officer in the crew spoke out in an impatient manner
Mrs Vivian exhaled deeply. Her eyes softened as she looked from me to the officer before responding in a weak tone
" I don't have any evidence officers. I simply heard something unpleasant and without affirming the authenticity...I assumed that it was true... and that's why I called you earlier"
I was slightly surprised that she was being protective. I guess what doctor Stanley said to her had resetted her brain and pulled at her emotions
" So you are saying that what you told us a while ago wasn't authentic...?" Officer Bryan asked with his facial expression changing into an ângry look
There was silence afterwards as Mrs Vivian couldn't respond either a yes or no to the officer's question
The officers didn't believe, they began to threaten doctor and his wife
Telling them if they do their research and find out that they were truly harbouring a mμrdérer but trying to cover up, they will be in Serious tr0uble.
I don't want anyone to get into tr0uble with the police because of me.
I decided to gather the courage to face my féár. I brace myself and then out of the blues I admitted to my cr!mes to the displeasure of doctor Stanley
" She wasn't lying about her report officer. Mrs Vivian is very correct about what she heard and told you. I k!lled my father and it was done intentionally!" I uttered as a matter of fact, without crying or mincing words.
The policemen were actually surprised that I could open up about my cr!mes. I could tell they were impressed too that such a young boy could be courageous
" Please don't do this Jacob. It was a mistake... it's childish f00lishness... I'm sure you wouldn't have opted for such if you knew better" doctor Stanley tried dissuading me but my mind was made up and there is no turning back
" I'm sorry doctor Stanley but I think it is high time I pay for my cr!mes once and for all, there's no hiding place for me sir, I do appreciate everything you've said to protect me but I really need to do this for my future sake"
" I'm sorry Jacob. I don't know what came over me. I was insensitive and now see what I have gotten you into" Mrs Vivian said looking at me with pitiful eyes. I'm guessing she feels remorseful for calling the policemen
" I'm not ângry with you Mrs Vivian. I'm rather thankful to you for giving me this opportunity to face my fears. There's a saying that there's nothing hidden under the sun..so it means I can't keep avoiding the consequences of my wr0ng deeds forever. I will have to face this someday and I think now is the time" I said as I inhaled and exhaled heavily
I walked over to where the officers stood and I stretched my hands towards them. They brought out an h@ndcμff from their pocket and cμffed my hands.
That was how I was arr€sted and taken away on the charges of mμrdér.
Whilst on the way out with the officers, I heard doctor Stanley telling Mrs Vivian
" I guess you feel happy now right...? Vivian imagine if I was impatient with you like you are with Jacob...then I would have long gotten a second wife just like my mom had suggested at the initial stage of our childlessness!"
I feel gμilty for being the reason for their qμarrel and I just pray in my heart that nothing changes between them because of me.
I heard doctor Stanley say again after Mrs Vivian didn't respond to him
" I need to call my lawyer immediately to handle Jacob's case. He is under 18 years old and he can't go to jäil this way...the boy is just too young for this!"
I was really shocked when I heard Mrs Vivian's harsh response
" You are doing no such thing Stanley. You heard him clearly right...? He said it himself that he is a mμrd£rer and deserves to rot in jâ¡l for k!lling!"
Those are the last words I heard before I completely walked out of the house with the officers behind me.
We got into the police van and drove off but I was still in shock and emotionally drained at today's turn of events
I was especially taken aback by the statement I heard from Mrs Vivian earlier.
Ah! So she was merely feigning the remorse and pity for me earlier...?
I sighed sadly and while in the police van, I was lost in thoughts on what was going to be my fate going forward.
