I bowed my head, and mumbled audibly. “Yes. I've seen you in this form before. You might have forgotten that you transformed in front of me some time ago, and I lost consciousness.”
“You… I thought you forgot about that because you never asked me about it even the next morning.” Atlas's eyes narrowed, confused.
With a faint smile, I replied. “It is unclear to me why you are like this at night, but I still hold you special, no matter how you look. Atlas, I want to help you. I know you are an alpha, and you might not want to impose on me. But you are the reason I'm free from slavery, and you gave me the position of being your Luna. We have to get rid of the curse, regardless of what.”
“I don't know what to say, Allison. I apologize for keeping this a secret from you. I thought you would leave me if you found out that I'm cursed.” His voice was teary, and he blinked his eyes rapidly. He was probably trying to prevent himself from shedding tears.
I placed my hand on his shoulder, and tapped it gently. Honestly, I really can't tell why I'm not afraid, even if he looks so hideous right now. Then, I consoled him and said softly. “I'll help you, Alpha Atlas. Since I'm your fated mate, I'll help you get rid of the curse.”
“Thank you so much, Allison. I don't know how to appreciate you for accepting who I am. Besides, the conference ends tomorrow, and we will be going back to the Cold Moon Pack house too.” He replied.
Then, I exhaled deeply and asked. “Are you sure that the pack elders will accept me, a slave, as their Luna? I'm worried, Atlas. What if they don't accept me as their Luna? My priority is to make sure that your curse is broken. That's what I care about, it doesn't matter, even if you don't make me a Luna.”
“Don't say that, Allison. The curse is not the reason I'm with you. I chose you because I have fallen in love with you, not because I see you as a cure. I love you, Allison Acosta.” He held my hands. I don't understand why I wasn't scared even if his hands were covered with hairs, and his fingers were so long and fearful.
With a smile, I replied. “I don't know how to thank you, but I sincerely appreciate everything that you've done for me. You gave me a Pack when I was rejected, and you made me know what it feels like to be loved and protected. Just when I thought that everyone had forsaken me, you showed up and lightened up my world. Thank you, Atlas.”
“Silly girl, I should say thank you.” With that, he hugged me tight. I fell asleep in his arms and slept off.
The next morning, he was already transformed back to his normal self. We headed to the conference room together. I was still feeling slight pain, so he aided me with his hands around my neck.
The first person I met at the balcony was Natalie. On seeing me, her eyes widened in shock. She was probably not expecting to see me, especially not alive.
Trying to hide her astonishment, she approached me, glaring hard at me. Then, she asked with a malicious grin. “Here you are, survivor. Who would have thought that a weak werewolf like you would survive such a brutal stab?”
Alpha Atlas wanted to attack her, but I shook my head in disapproval, so he stopped himself immediately. The battle is not his to fight, but mine. I smirked at her, and replied. “You look very disappointed to see me, Natalie. I'm sure that you are very shocked to see me alive, right? Just a piece of advice for you, I can never be killed easily. Do you want to know why? I bet you are so curious to know, that's because you can never hurt me. You're not qualified to do that.”
Anger engulfed her, and she raised her hand to slap me, but Alpha Atlas grabbed her hand and twisted it angrily while she growled in pain. “Let this be the first and the last day you'd ever try to hurt Allison because I'll make you regret it.”
“Argh! Go to hell, Allison!” She yelled angrily, and rushed back to her room.
Atlas turned his gaze at me with so much concern, and asked. “Are you okay, Allison?”
“I'm fine. There is nothing that you would say that'll ever hurt me. I'm used to her harsh words. Let's go.” I replied, as we walked into the conference room.
Meanwhile, Natalie rushed back into the room, fuming angrily. “How could she still be alive after everything? She must have nine lives to survive such a brutal stab, huh? That annoying b****!” She growled angrily.
“Why are you still here? I thought you already left to go to the conference room, huh?” Marcus asked as he walked out of the bathroom.
Natalie gulped hard. “I just saw Allison. She's fine now. Isn't that… isn't that so quick?” She faked a smile.
“Yes. Allison is one heck of a strong lady.” Marcus said this with a smile, and that got Natalie even more angry. She clasped her palms angrily, and watched him walk out of the room.
“You'll pay for this, Allison.” She groaned.
In a few minutes, the conference meeting was over, and Atlas led me to the already waiting Roll Royce.
We were interrupted by a yell from behind. It was no one else but Marcus. He looked furious as he approached us. Atlas turned to me and said. “I really don't care if he was once your Alpha, but I'm definitely going to k·ll him if I have to. After all the maltreatment you got from him, he's got the nerve to come to you without shame.”
“Please, Atlas, you mustn't hurt him. Yes, he hurt me when I was his slave, but most of the maltreatment was as a result of the scheming witch, Natalie.” I pleaded with him.
Marcus got closer, and grabbed Atlas by that collar, yelling. “What makes you think I'll let you take her with you? She's my pack member.”
“Did you listen to yourself before making such a dumb statement, Alpha of the Night Wind Pack? A pack member that you threw out in the streets, huh? I would rather not get angry with you for how you treated my mate.” Atlas glared at him.
Ignoring him, Marcus rushed to me and held my wrist. “Allison, come back with me to the Night Wind Pack castle. I promise, I won't let anyone mistreat you anymore.”
I spat at his face immediately, and snapped. “Get lost! I don't ever want to set my eyes on you again.”
With that, Alpha Atlas got into the car, and we zoomed off immediately. I felt a bit bad for Marcus, but he deserved everything.
We drove in silence. In a few hours, we were already in the Cold Moon Pack castle. The car drove into the compound, and Alpha Atlas helped me down.
The entrance of the castle was thrown open and the elders of the pack walked out in a queue to welcome the Alpha.
Well, I heard a strange voice. An elderly but gorgeous looking lady in her late 50s walked straight to Atlas, whose jaw had already dropped.
“Aunt Barbara, what are you doing here? You didn't tell me you were coming back to America?” He asked anxiously.
Her smile disappeared as she feigned a frown. “Aren't you excited to see me, Atlas, my darling nephew?” She turned her gaze to me, and I bowed slightly at her. Without any response, she turned back to Atlas and asked. “Who is this? Is she your personal slave?”
