Alice's POV
You know, when Maddie mentioned that we would be out all day, I initially thought it was just a figure of speech. Little did I know that she was actually telling the truth.
I was enjoying a peaceful moment, nestled in Alex's warm embrace, when an unexpected knock on the door disrupted our tranquility.
Alex hissed, pulling me closer to him, and though I wanted to savor the moment, I couldn't ignore the fact that I had a date waiting for me. And to top it off, this would be my very first date with a girl - Madison Romano, to be exact.
Throughout my high school years, my father had never allowed me to date any guys, but that's a story for another time.
Right now, I need to gather the strength to leave the comfort of Alex's arms and start getting ready.
As I gently attempted to remove his hand from my body, he woke up, his sleepy eyes locking onto mine, causing my stomach to do a series of flips. "Where do you think you're going, Kitten?" he asked, his voice husky and incredibly seductive. "It's only seven in the morning."
I run my fingers through his hair, and he lets out a sigh. "Your sister and I have plans, so I need to get ready," I say. I sit up, stepping off the bed.
"I'm not sure I like the term 'date'," He remarks. Alexander stands up, facing me.
"Deal with it, Alex. I'm going out with Madison," I assert.
"When will you be back?" he asks, concern evident in his voice.
"I'm not certain," I reply. "Do you need me to get anything for you?"
"No," He responds. Alexander walks closer to me. "Please, always stay close to the guards," he pleads.
"I'll be fine," I assure him.
"I just don't want to lóse you, Alice," he says, gently stroking my hair. "I really don't."
I smile at him, proud to have become someone important to him. Someone he doesn't want to lóse. "I promise to stay with Madison or one of the guards," I assure him.
"Are you sure?" He ask.
"Yes. Now, stop worrying about me."
"How can I stop worrying about you, Alice?" he asked, playfully flicking his fingers on my forehead. I gasped, rubbing the spot and pretending it hurt more than it did.
Before he could respond, there was a knock on the door. "Alice, come downstairs immediately."
"I have to go. Have a great day at work," I said quickly.

Sitting in Maddie's car in the parking lot of the shopping mall, I sipped my medium-sized caramel macchiato from Starbucks.
My phone beeped, indicating a new message. Excitedly, I retrieved it from my pocket and read the text, feeling my heart flutter.
It was from my Alexander, who I affectionately saved as "Hot Lips."
The message read, "Please take care of yourself. Don't have too much fun without me. Cosmo is with my card if you need anything Madison can't afford."
How adorable!
He didn't want me to have too much fun without him and even gave me permission to use his card. It was the sweetest gesture a man could make.
"Alex and Alice sitting on a tree, kissing," Madison sang as she got out of the car.
I followed suit, eager to start our shopping adventure, tucking my phone back into my pocket.
"I'm surprised he didn't call you," she adds.
I hummed softly, glancing at Cosmo, Zeke, Sky, and Déath as they emerged from the black SUV.
I'm quite friendly with all of them, except for Déath. He lives up to his name, appearing intimidating with his massive, tattooed arms, and he hasn't given me a single smile since we became acquaintances.
Although I have no idea what déath actually looks like, I'm certain they would bear a striking resemblance.
My phone vibrated, playing Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood." I retrieved it from my pocket, keeping an eye on the four guards who seamlessly blended into the crowd. Hot Lips was calling me, just as his sister had mentioned.
I showed the screen to Madison, and she smiled.
"Hi, Alex. Aren't you supposed to be working?" I greeted, speaking into the phone.
"You were supposed to be at home, safe and sound, but instead, you're on a date with my annoying sister,"
I looked Madison, who was engrossed in her phone, leaning against her BMW.
Just then, I noticed someone staring at her.
"Oh, so you don't trust the four guards I assigned to follow you?" I asked.
"Of course, I trust them. If I didn't, I wouldn't have sent them with you," He replied nonchalantly.
Here we go again with my heart's somersaults.
"You have no idea how much you mean to me, Alice," he added. "Don't let any guy flirt with you, or else you'll witness their déath before your eyes."
The first sentence barely had time to register before he hÃt me with another one. Noted, I definitely don't want to be the reason for someone's déath.
"What if they're just talking to me?" I asked, hoping for a more reasonable response.
"It's fine if it's just talking, but if it goes beyond that, they'll drop déad at your feet," he replied, his tone serious.
"I should probably start being scà red of you," I said, and I heard him chuckle. "Maybe I should go to the police and report you."
I stared at Madison, who was staring at the guy who had been staring at her earlier. Her face was bright red, and she had a wide grin on her face.
Why was she smiling like that? Did she have another crush on this guy? Wait, was this the guy she had a crush on?
"Sure, Kitten," he said. "Go ahead, I'll be happy to let it go."
I didn't understand why he wouldn't just drop it if he didn't want to be the head of the Italian MÃ fia anymore. Fine, I got it. He wanted to make his dad proud and be acknowledged for once, but he was sacrificing his lÃfe and happiness for it.
I could totally relate to that. I knew what it felt like to have one's life dictated by one's father.
"See you at home, Princess," he hung up, and I let out a deep sigh.
Putting my phone back into my pocket, I tapped Madison on the shoulder. She looked at me as if I had just pulled her out of a trance.
"You won't believe it, but that's the guy I told you about."
"Is that the Spanish MafÃa guy?" I asked quietly, and she nodded in response. I glanced at him once again, engrossed in conversation with another man.
My eyes carefully observed his features from head to toe. Undeniably, he was attractive, just as she had described.
With a tinge of longing, I wished things were different. If only everything could be perfect, and everyone could be with the ones they truly desired. If only everyone could become who they aspired to be.
"Shall we go inside now?" I gently shook her when her intense staring became unsettling.
"Do you think I should wait until he finishes talking to that guy before approaching him?"
"But he's occupied over there, how can you possibly wait? Why initiate something that you know won't end well?" I gestured towards where he stood engaged in conversation. "Come on, you promised me a good time."
"You're right," she finally snapped out of her delusional trance, offering me an apologetic smile. "Let's shop until my black card gets rejected."
There we go. As we entered the shopping mall, I noticed the Spanish guy watching us.
I really hope he will approach her instead of the other way around.
A brief fling can be harmless if it ends quickly, but she seemed genuinely infatuated with him, like a lovestruck teenage girl.
Despite my efforts to push it out of my mind, thoughts about the underlying animósity between Italians and Mexicans flooded my thoughts. Alex and Madison claimed not to know the cause.
Something must have happened to ignite this hà tred, right? Am I just overthinking?
On one hand, it feels right to forget about it, but on the other hand, discovering the truth seems more appealing.
I'm torn between these two options and unsure of what to choose.
What should I do?
