Alexander's POV
After enduring the impromptu concert Alice had treated me to, I finally found myself in my room, ready to take a shower. The clock read 3:14 PM, and it was exceptionally early for me to be back home, all thanks to Alice.
To be honest, I was beginning to regret agreeing to the ice cream party. I yearned to show my father that I wasn't under his control anymore, but I felt trapped, like a programmed robot designed to obey his every command.
My rebéllion was coming later in life than most. My existence had been shaped entirely by my father's desires, with my path preordained for me. It wasn't what I wanted, but I felt powerless to change it. I had always strived to please my father, but no matter how much I tried, I could never be the son he envisioned.
Perhaps it was time I stopped trying to please him and started pleasing myself. I could never be the obedient son he desired, and it wasn't my fault I was born this way. The fault lay with him.
Descending the stairs, I looked around for Alice, but she hadn't arrived yet. I took a seat on the couch, picked up the remote, and began searching for something worthwhile to watch.
The last movie Alice and I watched was fine, but it didn't quite resonate with me. I wanted to watch something I could truly enjoy and understand. Alice had given me free rein to choose, but I was drawing a blank. I had no movie in mind.
While I aimlessly flipped through the channels, Alice entered and placed bowls of ice cream on the table. She took the remote from me. "What do you want to watch?" she asked, scrolling through the TV listings. "What genre?"
"Anything but romance or magic or heroes," I responded, listing everything I found uninteresting.
After a thoughtful pause, Alice reached for her phone and initiated a movie on the TV. "I hope it doesn't..."
"It doesn't," she cut me off, shaking her head. "It has no romance or any of the things you mentioned." She handed me one of the ice cream bowls, and I hesitated before digging in.
I appreciated that she chose a movie that matched my preferences. However, as the movie progressed, I began to feel a bit drowsy, and my yawning became increasingly uncontrollable.
I didn't want to go to bed, fearing another restless night plagued by nightmares. Alice insisted I go to my room to sleep, and she even offered to accompany me. The idea of sleeping with Alice, not in that way, but in the innocent sense, was appealing.
When we reached my room, Alice settled on the couch, seemingly expecting me to lie down on the bed. However, I had different plans. I held her hand and guided her to the bed, laying my head on her lap.
Who needs a pillow when you have Alice? Her lap was comfortable, and she smelled nice. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep, her gentle fingers playing with my hair.
"Good night," Alice whispered in my ear, her touch soothing.
I had a remarkably peaceful night's sleep, a rare occurrence for me.
---
I awoke to slight movements and opened my eyes to find Alice shifting. My vision was initially blurry, so I closed my eyes briefly before reopening them slowly.
Alice was still there, seated with my head resting on her lap. Her eyes were closed, and her neck appeared strained.
Realizing that she must be uncomfortable, I sat up, checked the time (9:05 PM), and decided to adjust her position on the bed.
I moved to make her lie down properly, but in my groggy state, I accidentally stepped on her foot, waking her up.
"Sorry," I quickly apologized before she could react.
"When did you wake up?" she asked, stifling a yawn.
"Not long ago," I replied, watching her massage her neck and shoulders. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
She stood up, smiling at me. "I don't mind, as long as you had a nice sleep. You're hungry cuz I am?" She put on her pink flip-flops and picked up her phone from the nightstand. Before leaving the room, she turned back to me. "I'm making sandwiches; see you downstairs."
"It is past dinnertime." Gaping at her, I blurt.
"Yeah, it doesn't matter," She said, picking up her phone from the nightstand. Before she opens the door, she turns to me. "I'll be downstairs making sandwiches, see you."
Of course, she will. This is the second time I have slept perfectly fine after staying close to Alice. Every drúgs I have taken didn't work as much as Alice does. I didn't have a pay any money to have her, although technically I don't have her, this might be considered kidnà pping because I won't let her go, at least not now.
How can I let her just go like that? My life will go back to its normal schedule and that's what I didn't want. I want my Sweet Poison with me even if I never get to have her, she is a friend that I never thought I will have -- a very good friend who didn't have a ice cream party she said she will.
Of course, I won't let her go. Sleeping next to Alice had provided me with an exceptionally good night's rest. I didn't need to pay for this remedy; all I needed was Alice. How could I let her go back to her normal life? My life had changed, and I was determined to keep Alice by my side, even if only as a friend.
